I realized I just wanted to have friends, good long-term friends that I could count on at the end of the day, no matter how abrasive, cruel or insecure I've been to them--to be accepted for who I am, the good and the bad, regardless of being rejected or not to people I don't think I could get close with. The second is that I want to express my boundaries and what I want more, if I couldn't establish my boundaries, others would step all over mine unintentionally offending me. I've been getting to know a good friend of mine, and I've learnt a lot from being good friends with that person, and he's the reason that I learnt that I need to cut this shit out with how I view things, and something is wrong with me--unintentionally triggering a [[{{FreakOut}} freak out]]. So yeah, I'm loving every second of it, whether things would end up for something more or not. The reason why I wanted to keep on living is that I realized it's a journey of wanting to understand other people and hope they could be the best person they could be, no matter how hard it is--as I expected it might happen with me at some point.

I learnt a lot of things when I was with you--especially how to never lose sight over who we are or what we believe in, to continue to do everything I wanted regardless of the outcome, to learn how to let things go and to trust a person wouldn't get frustrated and abandon me if they couldn't understand me.


And that if I found a person who's willing to go through that for me, I'll make sure to be consistent.

It really is tedious, giving people long pieces of advice and having them pick through it for negative conclusions about themselves. I used to think that made people selfish and petty, before I experienced depression myself; now, I think it's just because depression has a way of shrinking your vision. It's not that you don't care about other people, it's just that the world is pressing in on you and compacting itself until it really feels like there is no one else but you, and your problems legitimately feel like world-changing catastrophes because they really ''do'' affect the world as you know it. And I have the hardest time getting depressed people to expand their perceptions a little; for me, it was having other people come to me with their problems; at first I was annoyed with them for whining all the time, because I had too many problems of my own to spare the energy for anyone else. That reminds me of something kinda similar back when I was in high school.

I was hanging out with some friends from the school's rock/metal band, as well as some of their friends. When one of the friends of friends found out that I was single, he suggested setting me up with someone. Later in the evening, I told all of them about the girl I was crushing on at the time.

I have to admit I also don't know much about your situation in particular so I don't know who "she" is and similar things. Also I feel wierd giving you advice since most of the time you realize this stuff yourself and it feels more like when your posting you are actually talking to yourself rather then anyone else (mind you, not necessarily a bad thing) :p. But sometimes it helps to hear it from someone else so here goes:

Telling "her" all these things will almost always lead to her thinking you are being smug or superior, especially when she is complaining to you and wants pity not advice. Not falling for that is the correct thing to do but in the end the only one who can help her is herself and she needs to realize that. In the end I can't tell you whether cutting off your ties is the correct thing to do because I simply don't know.

As for the friends telling you when you are pissing them off, I also suffer these insecurities rather often but Immi is right there. I mean I tell them they should tell me when they take issue with something about me. But alas most of the time I still spend all the time worrying about whether I'm doing something wrong. Either way, I've found it's not wrong to tell them to mind their health, but if they simply won't listen repeating it a hundred times won't help. It's the same thing as above. As you said, they live their own lives with their own consequences and while it may be hard to do it sometimes, you can't spent your entire life worrying about others. If they know what they are doing is bad for their health, then it is their informed decision as individuals. And they need to accept that you as an individual also make your choices and if living healthily is one of them there's nothing wrong with it. If they can't do that, well what can I say? In the end the one who's important is you and only you. So yeah being selfish is no fault as long as you don't completely disregard everyone else as ants to be crushed to your liking. That's taking it into extremes. Don't hate your personality. It's a part of you after all and rather then forcing yourself to change for the sake of others, others need to accept you for who you are. That is not to say trying to improve oneself is wrong. But there shouldn't be self-loathing involved. As for not being you anymore when you change, people always and constantly change.
