Pulpo Oscuro is a troper of high school age who lives in the DeepSouth, which he moved to unwillingly a few years ago. His name is GratuitousSpanish for "dark octopus", which has no meaning in particular. His writing interests tend towards speculative fiction, though he has tried other genres with mixed success.

His interests include CallOfDuty, writing short fiction, [[{{Honorverse}} the Honor Harrington novels]], cross-country running, the SCPFoundation, and amateurish drawings. He also has something of an interest in military matters and the possibility of intelligent life on other planets.

He lies on the cynical side of the SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism; in his own words, he "believes the world is bad, but it can and should become better." He is also a FakeBrit; being born in Britain but having spent the majority of his life in America. (His parents are Australian.)
