** My lucky stone. That's what I call it, anyways. It's actually a small Siberys dragonshard, about the size of a coin. I was on a picnic with 12 other family members. I was very young, six years old. While the others were talking and eating, I snuck off unnoticed, following some ants I saw. 13 of them, though I accidentally stepped on one. I was almost out of sight of the picnic when it happened. I got hit on the head. Not terribly hard, but it still hurt. The others noticed I was not with them when they heard my yelp. My mother came to get me, and she noticed the stone. She called it a sunstone, and asked if that's what fell on me. I said yes, and she said that it was a good luck sign, told me to always keep it with me, but to never show it to anyone lest the luck run out. Of course, nowadays I know that it's actually a dragonshard, and that I shouldn't show it to anyone because someone might want to try and buy it or steal it or even kill me for it if they knew. That's a hell of a way for the luck to run out.

Irdana Kaltoreth, a moderately wealthy half-elf art aficionado, the woman who invited me to that art show still has it. She occasionally brings it out when showing her collection, though I accidentally stepped on one. I was almost out of sight of the picnic when it happened. I got hit on the head. Not terribly hard, but it still hurt. The others noticed I was not with them when they heard my yelp. My mother came to get me, and she noticed the stone. She has it credited to a rather reclusive man called Tarl Tander, whom conveniently nobody other than Irdana has ever met. I prefer it a sunstone, and asked if that's what fell on me. ** '''Lance''': I was growing restless, they wouldn't listen to me. I tried to convince them that we had to leave, but they just kept trying to calm me down and insist it was ok. I knew better, we didn't have time. I- I tried to force them to leave, I snuck into their minds and tried to plant the idea that I was right. But something went wrong, they knew, and the look of fear and betrayal in their eyes forced me to leave them behind.

** '''Lance''': A job in Sharn went bad fast, (They always seem to, they never go bad slowly, with plenty of warning) and I was growing restless, they wouldn't listen to me. I tried to convince them that we had to leave, but they just kept trying to calm me down running for my life from The Guards of House Lobrashk. They're one of the 40 Families and insist it was ok. of the few who are Half Orcs, Tracing their Lineage to the Founding of the Gatekeepers. In the Sewers beneath the estate frantically looking for a porthole or storm drain to scramble through, Lobrashk Is Known for Combining Artifice and Druidism and I knew better, we didn't have time. I- I tried want to force them to leave, I snuck be on the receiving end of either. After Dragging myself through a broken gutter grate into one of the less well to do areas to put it simply, I had a moment to catch my bearings. Just some rundown slum market with some merchants trying to scratch out a living here in the twilight cast by the city of towers. The guards weren't far behind me, and they'd sent a pair of bloody mages after me, all closing in fast. In a Panic I used a psychic burst to guide their minds attentions and tried aggression to plant some poor shopkeep who was just passing by, just for a second. He hadn't done anything, but while I ran as fast as my legs could carry me I heard the idea WHOOMPH of a fireball igniting behind me, followed by a wave of warmth a few seconds later. I'm not sure I've ever forgiven myself that act of cowardice, that singular instance to surpass all others. I was right. But something went wrong, they knew, managed to Escape, Laying low down in the Cogs after paying a street-mage to scramble my trail. "Inferno's Respite" Is not the nicest of places, but Lenny, The Barkeep and the look of fear and betrayal owner, knows me lets me lend a room when I'm in their eyes forced me to leave them behind.need. He's a Nice enough guy, Tough as dragons teeth, Though that's not unusual for a Dwarf I guess. Just Don't start a fight in his bar. Seriously. Don't.

** I've always held images in my head in exceptional detail. Probably something to do with my psionics. My mother, Anri, was a painter, and I tried to follow in her footsteps. I haven't been able to so much as lift a paintbrush since the Day of Mourning. Gets me thinking of my mother, which gets me thinking about how I didn't save her, how I didn't save anybody because I was too scared. I just wanted to get out, didn't know how long I had, and nobody would listen. If I knew I had a whole month, maybe I would have tried harder, but.. And now I'm in a bad mood. Thanks a lot.

** I was born in Cyre, in Metrol. My family moved to Seaside when I was three, and I lived there until four years ago. About a month before the Day of Mourning, I started feeling really anxious and wanted to leave the country, I wanted everyone to leave the country. I told my parents, but they thought I was going crazy. Everyone did. I didn't like leaving them behind, but they were being too stubborn and I really didn't like the feeling I was getting. So, I got out of Cyre and moved to Sharn. Then, a month later, kaboom. All gone. Dagger take the Valaes Tairn and those damn goblins - and that Lord of Blades, too! If it weren't for them, I'd still have a homeland!

* What do you most regret doing with your powers?
** Well.. It was on a mission for the Trust. It was supposed to be a simple information grab. Quick, harmless, secret. This was some sensitive information that I probably shouldn't elaborate on, in the head of a half-elf called Nantel Swiftshoe, who worked for House Medani. It wasn't so quick and harmless. Though he could not see me, Nantel put up a fight, aware of my mental intrusion. I hadn't encountered anything like this before, so I pressed on, harder and harder. I was eventually able to break his mental barriers and get the aforementioned information, but he ended up in a coma that to my knowledge he has not woken up from. I never wanted to do anything like that, and I won't let anyone make me do it again.

* What do Against whose advice did you most regret doing with your powers?
** Well.. It
help Irem when she was on a mission for fleeing from agents of the Trust. It Trust?
** Heh, hers, actually. You see, I
was supposed just heading to be a simple information grab. Quick, harmless, secret. This the latest little job I had gotten, (uh, this was in Sharn, by the way,) taking a shortcut through some sensitive information that alleys I probably shouldn't elaborate on, knew when I saw her run past me along an alley crossing the one I was in. I looked in the head direction she was going, and then to where she came from, and saw some other people running the same way, though a ways back. I put two and two together and figured this girl was in trouble, so I decided, on something of a half-elf called Nantel Swiftshoe, who worked whim, to go ahead help her out. Or, ya know, catch her if it turned out she was bad news. Of course, she wasn't. Anyways, I may not be the best runner, but I'm decent, so I caught up to her as she turned a corner. She, uh, blasted me with a lightning bolt, on reflex, I'm sure. Luckily for House Medani. It me I had my inertial armour on. Can't ever be too careful. So, I wasn't so quick hurt. I ducked around the corner with her and harmless. Though he talked her down quickly. She explained that she was being chased by the Trust's catspaws. Well, she really was scared, I could not see me, Nantel put up a fight, aware it in her head, so I believed her. I had heard of my mental intrusion. I that particular organisation from Zilargo, and hadn't encountered anything like this before, so liked what I pressed on, harder heard. So, well, I said I'd help her. She wasn't too keen on the idea, went on about how it was her problem and harder. she'd be the one to solve it. I still think that's tower spit, I mean, you can't do everything alone. But the conversation stopped there, because we heard them getting closer. We popped out from around the corner, she blasted one, I averted one, and the last one just skidded to a stop, eyes wide open at what had just happened, and turned tail. Literally, I guess, seeing as he was eventually able to break his mental barriers and get the aforementioned information, but he ended up in a coma shifter. At that point, we ran away ourselves to make sure we lost them, and when we were, she told me to back off, that it wasn't any of my knowledge he has not woken up from. business. But hey, my business is what I never wanted make my business to do anything be. Gotta have a mindset like that, and I won't let anyone make me ready to do it again.anything, in a situation like mine. And anyways, while she was still talking stubborn, she was thinking grateful. And I'm glad she was, because that made being late for work worth it.

** My cousin, Selna. She removes people for the Trust. Permenantly. She carries too many knives around and likes her job too much. Definitely more than a little nuts (so I don't like going in her head), but she does her job well. So the Trust keeps her around, usually keeping an eye on her. Moreso than most.

It’s comfy, and it reminds me of my ex-girlfriend. (She added the beads.)

to:

** My cousin, Selna. She removes people Mm. His name's Gerren Cantor. Human. Rather temperamental. Has some kind of dragonmark. I guess it's what they'd call 'aberrant'. He lived in Seaside, and I knew him since he was smaller than me. We were actually friends for a while, until one day when we were hanging out by the docks. Not much was happening, since were were both rather quiet kids, and I was getting kinda bored. So I decided to have a peek in his head, see what he was thinking. Maybe spark up a conversation. I did not in any way expect what I heard in there. He was thinking about leaving to try and join that House Tarkanan! This was very strange, seeing as they no longer exist. So, since I was his friend, and I didn't want him making any stupid decisions like that, I decided to give him my two copper on the matter. He got really pissed off that I was in his head. I tried to calm him down, I mean, I look in everybody's heads. Not exactly a sign of distrust on my part, just casually looking like that. And it's not like that was the first time I'd peeked in his head, either. But still, he took it really badly. Maybe it was the subject matter. As I said, temperamental. He even pulled out a dagger on me. Nothing like that had ever happened to me before, and having someone I thought was a friend doing it made it worse. I tried to apologise, but he wouldn't listen. But, I wasn't about to let myself get cut, so I dazed him. Dazed him and ran. Never saw him again, and I plan on keeping it that way. Still, wish I could've done something to help him out.
* In what unexpected way did your psionic powers originally manifest?
** It happened one day when I was thirteen. I was walking home from school when all of a sudden there was a veritable deluge of voices in my head. I was stunned for a few seconds, and then I thought I was going crazy. Of course, then I remembered the fact that if you actually go crazy, you probably wouldn't realise it. It all died down over the course of a few minutes, over which I realised I was reading people's minds, by the fact that I could hear what they were thinking of saying before they actually said it. I thought about it for a bit and then tried doing it purposely, which, at that very early point, didn't work that well. I had to really focus or I would just get noise, like a waterfall. After a week or so of this, I found myself surrounded by three statuesque figures in an alleyway. I felt something pushing against my mind for a bit, but after it stopped, they were confused. They were Kalashtar, and had assumed that I was a sleeper agent
for the Trust. Permenantly. She carries too many knives around Riedrans, but when they found no quori spirit they realised that I was a genuine psion. After the confusion came relief, and likes her job too much. Definitely more than they offered to teach me about being a little nuts (so psion, which I don't like going in her head), but she does her job well. So the Trust keeps her around, usually keeping an eye on her. Moreso than most.
accepted.

** '''Staghorn''': I gained these not too long ago. I was hired by House Denieth to "take a look" at the leader of the Sharn branch of one of the other houses. They never said what one, just that they wanted to know what they were up to. I shouldn't have accepted in retrospect, but the reward that they offered looked really, really good at the time. It was when I saw the basilisk on the crests of the guards that were pointing crossbows at me the second I went through the window that I realized that I was sent to spy on House Medani. Performing espionage against the house with the Mark of Detection was about as smart as trying to kiss a troll. I tried to back away before I got shot, but I backed myself off of the tower. I tried grabbing on to anything that I could to slow my fall, but everything I tried grabbing onto only cut my hands. Fortunately, I was caught by a passerby before I could hit the ground. I still don't know why House Denieth wanted me to do something that was pretty much guaranteed to fail.

That is not their way. I agreed with her, something was wrong, something I could not fix or identify while under their scrutiny. If I left then, I thought, they'd chalk it up to nothing more than me losing my nerve, thus allowing me to attempt to find the solution to whatever it was that was causing the Trust to behave so unusually.

* Who once inspired you to a particular calling, and why do you no longer hold those aspirations?
** I've always held images in my head in exceptional detail. Probably something to do with my psionics. My mother, Elni, was a painter, and I tried to follow in her footsteps. I haven't been able to so much as lift a paintbrush since she died. Bad memories, all in exceptional detail.
* Who would you least like to meet in a dark alley at night?
** My cousin, Selna. She removes people for the Trust. Permenantly. She carries too many knives around and likes her job too much. Definitely more than a little nuts (so I don't like going in her head), but she does her job well. So the Trust keeps her around, usually keeping an eye on her. Moreso than most.
* What makes you stand out in a crowd?
** '''Kara''': The design embroidered on the back of my jacket is pretty distinctive, I think. Not many people wear a picture of a tiger’s face in shades of green, with the eyes done in amber glass beads. It would be easier to be inconspicuous without it, but I like the jacket too much. It’s comfy, and it reminds me of my ex-girlfriend. (She added the beads.)
* In what unexpected way did your psionic powers originally manifest?
** '''Ivy''': For as long as I can remember, I've been able to feel others' thoughts. To hear their presence, to know what they were thinking. It was not until I was in my thirteenth year that I learnt that not everyone is like this! How lonely they must be.
* How did you get the nasty scars on the palms of your hands?
* When you were sent to peek inside Irem's head, how did she convince you to flee with her?
** '''Lance''': Her mind showed me a discrepancy, a discrepancy I myself could notice, in retrospect, but had not seen before. The Trust extracted me, carefully, quietly. They did not get rid of me.
* Who can you always count on to help you when you're in a bind?
** '''Jinx''':

[+++Sandra Meteora+++]

!!Aspects:
* High Concept: Narcissistic Pyromancer Vigilante
* Trouble: A Warlock In The Family
* Phase One Aspect: Short Fuse to a Literal Explosion
** Sandra was born in Peeksville, Ashland County, Wisconsin to Jim and Marie Coleman. They lived outside the town. Jim was verbally and physically abusive, and a sorcerer. He blackmailed Marie into marrying him. One night, when Sandra was 10 her parents got into a very heated argument which ended with her father killing her mother. When she saw what had happened, she got angry and started yelling at him. He turned to her to smack her, but she was so angry that her dormant magical abilities found expression, setting the house on fire. Both escaped. Sandra found her way to Peeksville, while Jim was nowhere to be found. She was taken in by some of the townsfolk. This arrangement only lasted a few years, as she would inadvertently set fires whenever her temper flared. The more superstitious residents called her a curse or a demon. After staunchly insisting that they wouldn't abandon Sandra, her house was invaded in the night by angry townsfolk. They restrained her parents and attempted to kill her. She ran away a bit and got some ground between them and started yelling at them. Fires sparked all around her, and none of her pursuers dared go near. This is about when she realised that she was making these fires happen. This is when she cast her first conscious spell, a fireball at the pursuing townsfolk. They began to scatter, afraid. The fireball exploded - nobody was killed, but some were injured. Spurned by this sight, some of the more brave pursuing townsfolk charged her. She prepared to sling another fireball when a woman with a sword appeared almost from nowhere and stopped them in their tracks with a word. This is when Sandra met Warden Josephine. She had been keeping an eye on Sandra ever since she investigated the mysterious fires of Peeksville and realised what was really going on. She was hoping on Sandra's adoptive parents helping her control her anger, but seeing how far the townsfolk would go, Josephine had to step in. After explaining a few things to Sandra's parents, she took her away from Peeksville.
* Phase Two Aspect: It's Not Murder If They're Not People
** Sandra was at this point under Josephine's tutelage. The Warden set out to teach Sandra how to properly control magic, and herself - no better way to prevent a possible Lawbreaker than to teach them yourself. While Josephine tried to expand Sandra's repetoire into other elements and Thaumaturgy, Sandra was entirely focused on Fire Evocation. She saw fire as something that helps her and protects her, thus she would use nothing else. Josephine resigned to helping Sandra refine her control of Pyromancy, noting that the girl's conviction in the element would make her powerful, needing to be tempered by an equally strong discipline. This training went well. After a while, Josephine even started bringing Sandra on her missions to stop such things as necromancers and ogres. This is where Sandra got her affinity for taking down threats. On one mission in the city of Los Angeles, they were fighting against a mysterious sorcerer who had killed various people. It was too late when they realised that he had led them into a trap. His minions - various constructs - closed in on the duo while the sorcerer himself taunted them from the shadows and occasionally fired a spell. They got through the minions, but it was a tough fight. Both of them were nearly exhausted. Then the sorcerer rvealed himself - it was Sandra's father, Jim Coleman! Sandra screamed at him like a berserker and started slinging fireballs at him, which he redirected, setting the building they were in on fire. Jim took advantage of Sandra's state of mind and cast a lightning spell at her, intended to kill her. Josephine saw this and jumped in the way, saving her apprentice but dying in the process. Sandra was shocked at what just happened. She wanted to be more angry at him, now that he had just killed her mentor, but something clicked. She knew that she couldn't just rage at him, that would never work. She focused her anger into power for her magic, taking control over herself. After a fierce magical battle in the burning building, Sandra found herself in the position of power, having turned the tables on her father. However, the burning building was collapsing now, and she had to act quickly. She wanted to kill him, but not with magic. She ran back to find Josephine's sword, picked it up, and charged at her father, but debris fell right in her way. She wasn't quick enough. If she hadn't bothered with the sword and just immolated him, she would have killed him. But Josephine's teachings were too ingrained in her for her to do that. She couldn't break a law of magic, and for that, her father escaped from a burning building once again. It was after this that she began her career as a vigilante.
* Phase Three Aspect: My First Love Is Money
** Old Flame: When various creatures from the Nevernever are unleashed to terrorize the city of Los Angeles, the vigilante pyromancer Sandra Meteora steps up to take them down. Can she stop the monsters before they overrun the city when she is confronted by an old enemy and the ghouls he has hired?
* Phase Four Aspect: Showing Up The Wizards
** Sandra's appearance in ''Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Court'': After his unsuccessful confrontation with the Winter Court, Pugnacius is attacked by seemingly unknown assailants. After fending them off, he hires the vigilante pyromancer Sandra Meteora to make sure that no further interruptions to his investigation like that happen. Except that, when attacked again, one of the assailants, a faerie, hits a sweet spot with an insult to Sandra, setting her on a rampage to burn him to dust - and burning down the building they were in, and any evidence with it.
* Phase Five Aspect: Like Carrying A Minigun In Each Hand
** Sandra's appearance in ''Where There's Smoke'': After all this trouble, Prataab desperately tries one more divination to find the arsonist. He focuses intently on finding the source of the fire... and finds the biggest source of fire in town: Sandra Meteora! After confronting her, falsely believing her to be the culprit, she begrudgingly agrees to help the kid, if only to get him off her case.

[+++Julian Enoch+++]

!!Aspects:
* High Concept: Master Magesmith and Swordsman
* Trouble: Attracting the Wrong Kind of Business
* Phase One Aspect: Continuing the Family Business
** Julian is the latest in a long line of magesmiths. From when he was a small child his father taught him metallurgy and the practice of imbuing metal objects with magical power.
* Phase Two Aspect: My Reliable Old Sword
** Throughout his youth, Julian read fantasy and mythology, old and new. He especially latched on to the idea of the magic sword. With the knowledge his father taught him, he wanted to craft the likes of Excalibur and Sting. His father was happy with his son's choice, noting that more often than not, the members of this lineage were indeed swordsmiths, though he himself made rather utilitarian items. Before even beginning to make a sword, however, he took training in swordplay from across the globe. When he figured he knew enough about how swords work, he began work on his first magic sword. He has kept that sword ever since, it having much significance for him.
* Phase Three Aspect: Fight My Way Through the Darkness
** Deadly Riposte: Master Magesmith Julian Enoch was approached by a representative of the White Court, offering a large sum of money for the crafting a specially enchanted sword - one that can make quick work of a Red Court vampire! Having no love for the Red Court, he accepted the commission. But after completing the sword, his workshop was broken into and it was stolen! Can Julian find the thief and retreive the sword when he is being chased by Red Court assassins?
* Phase Four Aspect: Network of Favours
** Julian's appearance in ''Child Psychology'': After singling the cause down to faeries, Josie calls in an old favour from magesmith Julian Enoch, wanting him not just to bring his own sword, but one for her too. What do the faeries want with these children? Can they be stopped?
* Phase Five Aspect: Unarmed, Unwilling
** Julian's appearance in ''Hot Set, Cold Chills'': When Gordon and Chris get out to the backlot, they find the monster already occupied in chasing down an unarmed Julian Enoch, who had been comissioned to make some props for the movie. After they save his life, he runs back inside to get his sword, and then joins them in the battle!

It was after this that she began her career as a mercenary.

** Sandra **Sandra was born in Peeksville, Ashland County, Wisconsin to Jim and Marie Coleman. After explaining a few things to Sandra's parents, she took her away from Peeksville.

was at this point under Josephine's tutelage. [+++Julian Enoch+++]

[+++Sarah the Singed+++]

!!Aspects:
* Phase 1, Childhood:
** Sarah was born in a bad part of Philadelphia to a couple of poor, ignorant, working-class people. She showed signs of mental imbalance right from the start. However, being poor, nothing was done about it. Nothing good, anyways. Her parents, not understanding her situation at all, beat her in an attempt to get her to "straighten up". She also had a little brother called Larkin who didn't have these problems. However, he would frequently side with Sarah against their parents, as such, he got beatings, too. Her most prolific neurosis ended up being Pyromania. She quickly landed herself in juvy after a couple arsons, and when she proved to be too much for them, she was brought to the newly built Byberry Asylum in 1912, one of its first 30 patients. However, conditions in the institution quickly went sour - especially with Sarah around.
** Pyromaniac
** Disdain for Ignorance

* Phase 2, The Great War:
** Sarah was still in Byberry when the war started. However, as she had showed signs of intelligence under her insanity, she was taken by the military in 1915 in their experiments for Project PASMAT, or "Psychological Adaptation for Self-control of the Mind for Advanced Tactics". While the experiments were a success and Sarah was now in better control of herself, the war ended before Sarah could be given a formal military education and be put to use. Soon after the end of the war, the general that had overseen the project died of being set on fire. Sarah saw it happen, out of nowhere. Spontaneous combustion. However, none believed her claims of innocence and she was imprisoned in a secret military base.
** Project PASMAT Subject Gone AWOL
** Caged Emotions

* Phase 3, Post-War Antics, in Book Form:
** Sarah the Singed in 'The Byberry Assault': Some say she escaped from a secret underground military base. Some say that she was just let free after funding for the project in which she was experimented on got cut after the Great War ended. Some say that the project isn't over. Whatever the case, the pyromaniacal and meticulous '''Sarah the Singed''' was out now. She returned home to Philadelphia and found that her brother, Larkin, had completely taken over the city's criminal underworld! Now with a secure network of resources to draw from, she sets her sights on the devil from her past with a dark secret: Byberry Asylum! Can she stop the horrid and dastardly happenings and save the lives and wellbeing of the mentally ill held there?
** Brother in Crime

* Phase 4, Sarah's appearance in ''Great Dane McCallister and the Grasp of the Black Talon'':

However, her iron mind has him utterly baffled, keeping him there longer than he should, trying to puzzle her out - now they have to fight the deadly Ordo Corvi agents together!
** Steely Resolve
** Trigger-Happy

* Phase 5, Sarah's appearance in ''Millie Diamond and the Mysterious Mistress of Memphis'':
** When Millie Diamond can't dig up any more clues, even with the help of Samson, they must call on Sarah the Singed, who they happened to find in Cairo's Century Club chapterhouse, far away from Philadelphia.. She agrees to help them, knowing that she'll be able to have a little fun scaring the wits out of Egypt's meanest!
