Added DiffLines:

* AllStarCast: For a film that went through DevelopmentHell, it has an All-Star cast. Aside from the leads, it includes Strother Martin, David Steinberg, Joanne Woodward, Creator/NormanFell, Creator/MyrnaLoy, Pat O'Brien, and Creator/CarlReiner.
* DevelopmentHell: The script was written in 1971, but couldn't move forward until Creator/BurtReynolds took an interest in it. Even then, United Artists refused to do the film unless Reynolds also made ''Film/{{Hooper}}''.
* DuelingWorks: Both ''The End'' and ''Hooper'' were released the same year. ''Hooper'' was a smash hit; ''The End''... less so, though it wasn't a box office failure.
* ProductionPosse: It was TheSeventies, and Reynolds and [=DeLuise=] [[ThoseTwoActors were joined at the hip]]. Field had also appeared in the previous year's ''Film/SmokeyAndTheBandit''.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The script was originally written as a vehicle for Creator/WoodyAllen.
** The ending had Marlon ''killing'' Sonny; Reynolds changed it to prevent the film from being needlessly dark.
