** A pilot script for a revival on the Sci-Fi Channel called ''A Bold Leap Forward'' was written by Trey Callaway in 2003. It would have starred Sam's daughter Sammie Jo as the new leaper. Al would have returned as the hologram and Sam himself would have a supporting role. Although Don Bellisario apparently liked the script, he later changed his mind and the project was cancelled.

** One of the episodes Donald Bellisario was planning for ''Quantum Leap'' before it was canceled was for Sam Beckett to leap into Thomas Magnum, thus merging the ''Series/QuantumLeap'' continuity with that of ''Series/MagnumPI''. They apparently ''did'' film the initial "leaping in" scene, with Scott Bakula in the familiar red Hawaiian shirt turning to the camera and doing Creator/TomSelleck's famous comical eyebrow raise from ''Magnum, P.I.'''s opening credits. This would have resulted in a CelebrityParadox, since in "Another Mother", Susan Buckner is seen watching ''Magnum'' on TV. However, according to the ''Starlog'' publication ''100 Years of Science Fiction'' the plan was for Bakula to leap into the body of Tom Selleck as he filmed the series, not the character.
