* AwardCategoryFraud:
** Alan Kim was nominated at the [=BAFTA=]s as a supporting actor, even though he's the main character. Granted, it's an EnsembleCast, but he's still the most prominent role. It wouldn't be as noticeable were it not for Creator/StevenYeun and Yeri Han competing for leading awards.
** Similar to ''Film/TheFarewell'' the previous year, the film was nominated for (and won) Best Foreign Language Film at the [[UsefulNotes/GoldenGlobeAward Golden Globes]], despite a significant amount of English dialogue and the fact that it is not a foreign film. This led to severe backlash against the Globes, particularly given films in this category are ineligible to compete for Best Motion Picture awards. (The [[UsefulNotes/AcademyAward Oscars]] use the Best '''International''' Film category, which excludes U.S. films like ''Minari'', and the film was indeed nominated for Best Picture there.)
