* AcclaimedFlop: Despite boasting much of the same ProductionPosse from ''Anime/SamuraiChamploo'' and garnering critical acclaim, ''Michiko & Hatchin'' ultimately flopped in Japan and didn't get properly licensed in North America until three years after it originally aired.
* AllStarCast: ''Michiko & Hatchin'' used {{Celebrity Voice Actor}}s as the main cast in the Japanese version, all who were big-screen actresses at one point. Yoko Maki voiced Michiko, [[Film/MemoirsOfAGeisha Suzuka Ohgo]] voiced Hana, and Maki Sakai voiced Atsuko. Advertising took advantage of this and played it up in one of their [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-wL2wBOnas commercials]], marketing the show as "an anime that Yoko Maki and Maki Sakai star in!"

* NoExportForYou: Bizarrely enough for a series with strong influences from the Brazilian culture, even with Brazilians involved in the soundtrack, this series was ''never'' officially released in the country.
* PlayingAgainstType: Considering she plays so many little kid roles, Creator/MonicaRial voicing Michiko caught everyone off guard.
* ProductionPosse: Saya Yamamoto worked on ''Anime/SamuraiChamploo'' under Creator/ShinichiroWatanabe, who would compose the music on both ''Michiko & Hatchin'' and Yamamoto's later work, ''Anime/LupinIIITheWomanCalledFujikoMine''.
