And in both cases, the tracks were added to the games in reverse order.

* RefittedForSequel: Kamek was originally set to make his series debut in the Wii U version after his spot in ''VideoGame/MarioKart64'' was taken by Donkey Kong, but ended up being DummiedOut, as his kart emblem was discovered in the game's files. It wouldn't be until ''8 Deluxe'' and the Booster Course Pass that he would be properly added to the game.

** GCN Waluigi Stadium was originally intended to be in Wave 3 as the second course of the Moon Cup, but was moved to Wave 4 and was replaced by Wii Maple Treeway (which was originally intended for Wave 6). Similarly, Bangkok Rush's presence in the music leak indicated that it was initially supposed to be in Wave 5, but it was moved to Wave 4 and took the spot of Singapore Speedway as the first course of the Boomerang Cup, with the latter course now being the last course of that cup instead (which was originally intended for Los Angeles Laps).

** Thanks to the Banner leak, Prefix Leak, Music Leak and a data mine for ''Tour'', most people were able to accurately predict the tracks coming to Wave 4 of the Booster Course pack, including that a ''VideoGame/YoshisIsland'' track would be the last track of the Fruit Cup.
** When Riverside Park showed up in ''Tour'' during November 2022 with a drastic overhaul, many people correctly guessed it would be among the course features in the Booster Course Pass.
** Petey Piranha and Kamek were both heavily speculated to appear prior to their reveals; Kamek had [[WhatCouldHaveBeen previously been planned]] for both ''VideoGame/MarioKart64'' and ''8'', while Petey Piranha was originally from ''VideoGame/MarioKartDoubleDash'' and was planned for ''VideoGame/MarioKartWii''. Additionally, Petey Piranha received a course themed after him in ''Tour'' months before his reveal in ''8 Deluxe'' in the form of Piranha Plant Cove, which made him a prime target of speculation once it was announced that characters would be added in the Booster Course Pass.

Removing this example after prior consult in the "Is this an example?" thread in the forums here. The unavailability of the Wii U version doesn't mean the game itself is unavailable, as it's been ported to the Switch which can be readily accessed (it also has the original's DLC as part of its base content)

** With the closure of Wii U [=eShop=] at the end of March 2023, digital copies of the Wii U version will no longer be able to be purchased. You'll either need a physical copy (which is now out of print) or have previously purchased a digital copy if you want to play the Wii U version. * AuthorsSavingThrow:
** One of the biggest complaints about Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass was that the textures, due to being taken mostly from ''Tour'', were fairly low effort in comparison to the SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome of the base game. This would end up being addressed in later waves, with most of the textures having at least some effort put into them, and some courses like [=3DS=] Rainbow Road being frequently described as looking like they came from the base game.
** A massive complaint about the first two waves of the Booster Course Pass was that, aside from Sky High Sundae, all the tracks lacked anti-gravity, Mario Kart 8’s main feature. This has been addressed in Wave 3 with Boo Lake, Rock Rock Mountain, Merry Mountain and [=3DS=] Rainbow Road, all of which have actual anti-gravity segments.
** Some items, such as coins, are often considered undesirable, so a way to disable specific items was a long requested feature. A way to customize what items appear was finally added to the game with the release of Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass, nearly five and a half years after ''Deluxe'' released.
