** Originally, the new emotions would've included Shame and she would've been the "arch villain" of the story rather than Anxiety being a WellIntentionedExtremist. However, Shame was cut from the final draft for a variety of reasons; the moral of "Don't shame yourself" came off as a bit too preachy, it was difficult to think of a way to redeem someone as negative, harsh, and critical as Shame, her attitude brought down the overall enjoyment of the movie, shame isn't something universal that everyone deals with or has a positive use to it like the rest of the emotions did, and psychologists that Pixar consulted with over the movie even noted that it technically wasn't even an emotion.
