* WhatCouldHaveBeen: As you can tell, there were a lot of plans scrapped.

** Goh was initially supposed to unleash the Unown but [[spoiler: was swapped with Parker instead. The author explains that Goh just wasn't the more creative type to fully use the Unown's power and the implications of just keeping a copy of Chloe by his side was a bit unsettling. Parker was shown to be more creative and much more ''dangerous'' due to his younger age and inability to let bygones be bygones.]]

** The Unown Arc was going to last even longer but was scrapped to about 3 chapters so that it didn't overstay its welcome.

* CreatorBreakdown: The author admits in Chapter 11 that Chapter 13 and beyond is going to be a lot more depressing than usual due to the effects of her grandmother's passing.

* InMemoriam: Chapter 11 is dedicated to the author's grandmother, who passed as the chapter was being written.

** The Chapter after The Crayon Car was supposed to be the Hidden Temple Car, but the author wanted more focus on the Pokémon world characters and moved it to Chapter 14 which would come ''after'' the Intermission because she didn't want the adventures of the Hidden Temple clash with the depressing farewell letters Chloe wrote.

** Another idea that was scrapped was when Goh would've been found on the train. Chloe would've escaped into something called "The Fog Car" -- which is essentially ''VideoGame/SilentHill2'' but on the Infinity Train -- and Goh was teamed with Simon to rescue her with Goh and Simon having to face their inner demons, while Chloe -- who had no sins at this point -- was free to frolick across the Car and escape early. Goh would've fallen into despair at this point; no matter how hard he chased after Chloe, she would always be out of reach. However, as noted above, Simon's fate had that scrapped.

* InspirationForTheWork: The author wrote the story because she was annoyed by the lack of CharacterDevelopment Chloe had been receiving in the anime, and the partly number of fan works exploring the character (there was only one other Chloe-focused story on [=AO3=] at the time). Ironically, the first chapter was posted just ''days'' before Episode 29, which turned out to a major Chloe-focused episode that delved a bit into her backstory. She also pointed out a DoubleStandard moment from Episode 11; when asked about what Chloe wanted to do in life, everyone immediately assumes that she's going to become a Pokémon Trainer or Professor, whereas the student prior to her (a boy) got away with a "My life is a work in progress" without any criticism.

** From what was seen in Episode 2, it looked like Goh never goes to school at all. Episode 49 has him in the school uniform and walking to school along with Chloe, explaining that he goes there for mandatory testing.

** The scene where Chloe's classmates were chewed out in Chapter 6 was originally going to be done by Ash, but scrapped as he was even less familiar with them than Goh.

* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Many changes in the story had to be worked around due to Book 3, particularly [[spoiler:Amelia being the original third member of the party but was swapped with Lexi instead.]]

** From what was seen in Episode 2, it looked like Goh never goes to school at all. Episode 49 has him in the school uniform and walking to school along with Chloe, explaining that he has to go there for mandatory testing.
