** Kamal's line "People think time is a river that flows in one direction, but time is an ocean" references the Prince's OpeningNarration in ''VideoGame/PrinceOfPersiaTheSandsOfTime'': "Most people think time is like a river that flows swift and sure in one direction. But I have seen the face of time, and I can tell you: they are wrong. Time is an ocean in a storm.". Both characters were voiced by the same actor: Creator/YuriLowenthal.
** In the original version of Rani's introduction, she would have scoffed at Sarah John's baby name choice of Dorothy Jane, an allusion to Rani's actress Olivia Burnette's role on ''Series/TheTorkelsons''.

** Speaking of chatters, there's the early scene with Rani in which she works for an entrepreneur, Trevor, to produce cheap, disposable chatters for refugees. To do this, Trevor bought a "printer/fabricator." Come 2012, and 3D printing has gone from an experimental industry technology to one that's increasingly available for consumer and hobbyist use, not to mention one seeing more and more adoption in professional sectors. It won't be long before real 3D printers can do the same kind of whole-device fabrication of the printer/fabricators seen in ''I Love Bees''.
