* CastingGag: Chrollo Lucilfer, who conjures his stolen Nen abilities as a notebook, is voiced in the 2011 anime by Creator/MamoruMiyano -- Miyano previously played Light Yagami in ''Manga/DeathNote.''

* ChildrenVoicingChildren: The Brazilian Portuguese dub for the movies featured two teenage boys voicing the characters Gon and Killua, who were respectively 15 and 13 years old at the time. Pairo in ''Phantom Rouge'' was voiced by a then-13 as well in the dub.

** Togashi's [[CreativeDifferences experience]] writing ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'' have also seemed to play a role in the direction Hunter X Hunter has gone. Namely, the rotating cast of characters and the {{Deconstruction}} of Gon's character during the Chimera Arc. The latter of which [[WhatCouldHaveBeen Togashi wanted to do with Yusuke in Yu Yu Hakusho.]]
** Togashi's comments in the author's section of ''Shonen Jump'' in 2016 are downright depressing and sorrowful, with him complaining about being in pain and generally miserable. It's no surprise he went back on hiatus sometime later.

* GodNeverSaidThat: There's a persistent rumor spreading around that Creator/NaokoTakeuchi will continue working on the manga if something happens to Togashi that even [[https://www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/hunter-x-hunter-chapter-361-rumors-togashi-wife-collaborate-to-finish-long-overdue-chapter/53893.htm news articles]] and [[https://www.mobilenapps.com/articles/36071/20170129/hunter-x-returns-february-creator-togashis-wife-takeuchi-reportedly-assigned-write-next-chapter.htm fansites]] picked up on, yet there's no official interview of Togashi or her confirming they said this. She ''was'' an assistant to Togashi doing screentone in the early days of the manga before their marriage, which might have been the basis of the rumor, but she left due to the heavy workload and to focus on Manga/SailorMoon.

*** The mysterious announcer (actually Prince Baka Ki El Dogra from another Creator/YoshihiroTogashi series, Manga/LevelE) is voiced by Takuma Suzuki and David W. Collins instead of Creator/DaisukeNamikawa[[note]]Who wouldn’t have been hard to get back since he already voices Hisoka.[[/note]] and Creator/VicMignogna.

* SeriesHiatus: Several, leading the more cynical readers to refer to the series as Hiatus x Hiatus. At ~390 chapters to 2019, it would be quite the mental task to determine how long the series would have been ''without'' the hiatuses. That is, were it not for [[https://hiatus-hiatus.github.io/ this]]. As of 2022, the series has actually been on hiatus for more of its run than it hasn't. Its current hiatus of 156+ skipped issues of ''Magazine/ShonenJump'' missed is the manga’s longest ever.

** Togashi mentioned in a discussion after returning from his Hiatus in 2017 that he originally planned for [[spoiler: Machi to also get killed by Hisoka, alongside Shalnark and Kortopi, after his fight with Chrollo. Togashi decided to leave her as a survivor because he felt the narrative would have better stakes if she returned to the Phantom Troupe as a messenger.]]

** In the Latin American Spanish dub of the 2011 series, Mexican voice actress Susana Moreno voice Gon. Averted with the one from the 1999 series, which was voiced by a male one, the Colombia-born Leonardo Salas.

** Gon is voiced by Belgian voice actress Creator/JackieBerger in the French dub.

However, when the series become finally dubbed in the language, the entire cast were changed. ** Turns out that the 1999 adaptation would have had an anime only ending with two extra episodes where Kurapika and Chrollo would have a final duel to the death with both of them dying in the process setting their score, and with Kurapika dying in Leorio’s arms. * TroubledProduction: The Colombian Spanish dub suffered of many problems during its production: Besides of having a very irregular quality, the script of the dub was ''plagiarized'' from a fansub, complete with [[TooLongDidntDub honorifics and all]]. ''Unlike'' what happened with the other Latin American dubs who used plagiarized scripts (like the Mexican Spanish dubs of the first ''Manga/CaseClosed'' movies, who were caught red-handed with this), they dubbed '''the whole first TV series and the [=OVAs=]''' with those scripts with no problems whatsoever with the Japanese licensors, who normally are very strict about using non-official translations for dubs.

** Gotoh in his first three appearances was voiced by Dave Mallow. Following Mallow’s retirement, Joe J. Thomas takes over in his later appearances.
** Bloster/Brovada was first voiced by Chris Cason in the first half of the Chimera Ant Arc before Creator/JoeZieja takes over.
