One of the ''Final Fantasy X'' writers found it amusing that they tried to make a new world and ended up aping ''Final Fantasy VII, particularly the idea of TheLifestream. This is actually {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by Rikku, who states that Lulu doesn't look pregnant. The developers said that they didn't feel like making a new character model for her. Ditto Wakka, who's supposedly out of shape since the events of the last game, but also just reuses his old model.

* RetroactiveRecognition: Rick Gomez would later be picked as the voice of Zack Fair in The Compilation of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII''. Also, George Newbern, Nooj, became Sephiroth.

** Subverted, as they eventually released ''Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster'' on the UsefulNotes/PlayStation3, UsefulNotes/PlayStationVita, and later; UsefulNotes/PlayStation4, and {{Steam}}, which contains both the International content and Last Mission.

** There was also a prequel game that would have focused on Jecht, Auron and Braska's pilgrimage. Fearing that would end up becoming repetitive, developers opted to work on this one instead.
