*CreatorBacklash: Patrick Stump played with this trope in a 2013 interview with Rolling Stone after the band reunited; the backlash wasn't for the band itself or even for the music, but more for the emo scene they became associated with.

* ChannelHop: Creator/IslandRecords signed them early on in their career, but Island executives employed an unusual strategy: give the band an advance to sign to a small indie label for a one-off album to test the waters. They signed to Creator/FueledByRamen for ''Take This To Your Grave'', and once it became a smash hit in the indie circuit, they hopped back to Island, where they stayed for six albums in two three-album deals. Once their second deal at Island was over, they hopped back to FBR, which by now had become a major player under the Creator/WarnerMusicGroup umbrella thanks in no small part to the success of ''TTTYG'' and Pete's vanity label Decaydance.

* BuryYourArt: ''Evening Out With Your Girlfriend'', mainly due to the recording circumstances and the intent for it not to be released. Whenever the band discusses their history, ''Evening Out...'' almost never comes up. "Growing Up" was acknowledged on "What a Catch, Donnie" and it made an appearance on ''Believers Never Die'', mainly due to it being the band's first song. The band disliked the record so much that years later, they paid to buy the record off Uprising to keep it from ever getting rereleased.

He made a cameo in Toe Tag Riot, created by fellow vegan straight edge Matt Miner, who also created the animal liberation focused comics Liberator and its followup Critical Hit. Andy came on board for Toe Tag Riot due to being a fan of Liberator; he also on a signed variant cover for Liberator, wearing one of the comic's t-shirts sold at Hot Topic. Andy also has a podcast with long time friend Matt Mixon called [[http://tryillianmassacre.com The Tryillian Massacre]] where they discuss nerd pop culture topics of the day.

The whole band has even been to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkW0GmObxD4 Skywalker Ranch]]!
** As a promotion for ''Folie a Deux'', they even rolled out [[http://starvingeyes.com/archive/games/falloutboytrail/ their version of Oregon Trail]].

Patrick also has a preference for oldschool video games (when he gets a chance to play), but to the sadness of many fans, he thinks he "missed the boat" on VideoGame/{{Pokemon}}.

Hey Its That Guy and Hey Its That Voice examples are being cut per TRS.

* HeyItsThatGuy: The video for their cover of "Beat It" features Donald Faison (Turk from ''Series/{{Scrubs}}''), Hal Sparks ({{Queer As Folk}}, {{The Soup}}) and Tony Hale (Buster from ''Series/{{Arrested Development}}''), with John Mayer on guitar,
** Most of their music videos also include a host of friends from bands on Pete's record label Decaydance.
*** Seth Green and Michelle Trachtenberg (both from ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'') show up briefly at the funeral scene in "Arm's Race", and Katrina Bowden who plays Cerie on Series/ThirtyRock is the mean girl in "Dance, Dance"
*** Brendon Urie and Spencer from Panic! at the Disco make an appearance in the video for "What a Catch, Donnie".
*** The "A Little Less Sixteen Candles" video has William Beckett and Mike Carden from The Academy Is..., Travie [=McCoy=] from Gym Class Heroes, and Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith from Panic! at the Disco all as various vampires from different clans. Travie [=McCoy=] also shows up in the video for "Dance, Dance" and "Arm's Race". Brendon and Spencer both show up again in the video for "What a Catch, Donnie" and "Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet". Brendon shows up solo in the video for "Uma Thurman".
*** Another "Dance, Dance" example, Ben Jorgensen from Armor For Sleep shows up, introducing Travie into the dance-off. This lead to RomanceOnTheSet between him and fellow "Dance, Dance" cameo maker Katrina Bowden, who later got married in 2013.
*** Fall Out Boy's long time manager, Bob [=McLynn=] makes cameos in "Dance, Dance" as the principal, "A Little Less Sixteen Candles" as the priest, and as himself in "Uma Thurman"
*** Cassadee Pope, then of Hey Monday and later on of ''Series/TheVoice'', cameos in the "America's Suitehearts" video.
*** The music video for "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) consists entirely of 2Chainz and two other women setting fire to Fall Out Boy's discography and memorabilia.
*** Big Sean shows up in the video for "Alone Together", as set up for his appearance in The Mighty Fall.
*** Tommy Lee is the Devil in the video for "Death Valley", along with SOFI (aka [=SomeOtherFemaleInterest=], known for her collaborations with Music/{{deadmau5}} and needing a ladder), as a turncoat member of the organization hunting down the boys that's willing to help them out. While this is Tommy Lee's first time in a Fall Out Boy video, this isn't SOFI's. She appears alongside Butch Walker briefly in the video for "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race" And last but not least, Music/EltonJohn AS God himself!
*** The video for "Centuries" features [=DCD2=] labelmate Lolo...and Music/RickRoss!
*** The video for "Uma Thurman" means Big Sean is tied with Travie for "Most Appearances By A Rapper In A Fall Out Boy" video. Appearances are also made by [=DCD2=] labelmate Max Schneider, Music/ActionBronson, Alan Wilkis of Big Data, and Brian Logan Dales from The Summer Set.
*** The video for the version of "Irresistable" with Demi Lovato features (naturally) Demi Lovato, but since it's also a semi-spinoff of Music/{{NSYNC}}'s video for "It's Gonna Be Me", Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick show up!
* HeyItsThatVoice
** William Beckett sings in "Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year".
** The other screaming voice on "I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me" is Chad Gilbert of Music/NewFoundGlory.
** In "7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen)" and "20 Dollar Nosebleed", Brendon Urie lends his vocals. However, it may be hard to pinpoint his parts as he and Patrick have similar voices and singing styles.
** In "What a Catch, Donnie", a few guest stars lend their voices to sing a few of their greatest hits.
*** [[Music/ElvisCostello Elvis Costello]] sings "Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet"
*** [[Music/CobraStarship Gabe Saporta]] sings "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy"
*** Travie [=McCoy=] sings "Sugar, We're Goin Down"
*** [[Music/PanicAtTheDisco Brendon Urie]] sings "Dance Dance"
*** [[Music/TheCab Alex [=DeLeon=]]] sings "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs"
*** [[Music/TheAcademyIs William Beckett]] sings "Growing Up"
** [[Music/LilWayne Lil Wayne]] sings the bridge on "Tiffany Blews"
** You know the second singer in "Save Rock and Roll"'s title track? Its only [[EltonJohn Elton Fucking John]]!
** [[Music/CourtneyLove Courtney Love]] is featured on "Rat a Tat", Big Sean on "The Mighty Fall", and Foxes on "Just One Yesterday".
** A non-musical example: Creator/TaraStrong narrates the opening of the "Miss Missing You" video for The Youngblood Chronicles. Her opening spiel is actually reversed text on the back of the Save Rock and Roll album.
