* The drug Prozium is a {{Portmanteau}} of existing drugs Prozac and Valium. Valium is from the category of anti-anxiety drugs known as [=BZs=] (Benzodiazepines), which slow down activity of the central nervous system by enhancing the effect of GABA, which is a neurotransmitter that has a general quietening effect on many of the neurons in the brain. Prozac is from the category of antidepressants known as [=SSRIs=] (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors), that increase levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which regulates mood and anxiety. This reflects the combined purpose of the drugs within the context of the film, because of 'equilibrium' – Father makes enough sense to explain it removes the highs and lows of emotion which is believed to be the cause of humanity's demise.
