* TroubledProduction: A fair bit of it. The actress originally hired to play Dr. Berman never showed up, forcing the director to cast Marianne Kanter instead. There was also a lot of tension between the director and Maddy's actor Louise Lasser, the only actor in the film with any kind of fame even though her best years were behind her at this point. The director even quit in the middle of a shoot, according to Kanter, although she was able to convince him to come back.

anyway. Arrow Video released a Blu-ray in 2015 with both cuts, plus a third version that combines all the scenes of both cuts.
* TheShelfOfMovieLanguishment: The film was completed in 1983, but the film wasn't released until 1987, when an edited cut titled ''Nightmare at Shadow Woods'' turned up in a few theaters. The original version was dumped to VHS the same year.

* DeletedScene: Instead of the (rather important) scene where Maddy visits Todd in the asylum, ''Nightmare at Shadow Woods'' has a sequence where everyone is hanging out at the pool, which is missing from ''Blood Rage''.
