Soon after, rumors began surfacing online that it was being delayed to 2015, which was officially confirmed by Rocksteady on June 3, 2014, with it's new release date of June 2, 2015 being confirmed on September 9. Then on March 23, 2015, it was delayed another three weeks to June 23, nearly four years after ''Batman: Arkham City''. The reason being that Rocksteady needed more time to develop the game and ensure that the series goes out with a bang. YMMV on whether it did or not.

In reality, they're just reskinned League of Assassins Ninjas that can do an aerial attack.

** Several people correctly speculated that the plot of ''Arkham Knight'' would involve a power-vacuum after the death of the Joker, based solely on the ending to ''Arkham City'' and that Scarecrow would be the BigBad.

* TroubledProduction: The above near DevelopmentHell can go under here, but the PC port in particular needs mentioning. Not only was it outsourced to a completely new developer, but it was only 12 people that worked on it.

* AscendedMeme: Some of the later trailers use the tagline "Be vengeance. Be the night. Be the Batman", referring to Bats' famous BadassBoast from [[WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries the animated series]]. [[spoiler:The phrase itself is used verbatim in the very last section of the game, as Batman's furious rebuke to Joker.]]
** For extra [[BuffySpeak ascendedness]], the original line was from the episode that introduced The Scarecrow in that series, whereas he's the BigBad of the game.
