** The song was so popular that despite Slash publicly saying he hates the song's hit status (although he otherwise liked it), he still played it every night on his solo tours, simply because people wanted to hear it.

* MagnumOpusDissonance: "Sweet Child o' Mine" was meant to be [[AlbumFiller just a song to fill space on the album]]; it wasn't expected to do particularly well. Now, it's acclaimed as the band's SignatureSong alongside "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City", the album's two other major hits. "Sweet Child o' Mine" is particularly considered to be the defining song by Slash, who mindlessly came up with the main guitar riff as he was warming up, and the rest of the band thought it was so good they had to build a song around it.

* RealSongThemeTune: "Paradise City" serves as the theme song for ''VideoGame/BurnoutParadise'', though [[LyricalDissonance it's not quite a perfect fit for such a cheerful game.]]
** Then again, [[ComicallyMissingThePoint a game about cars smashing into each other is not exactly "cheerful" either,]] so...

* ThrowItIn: Producer Spencer Proffer suggested adding a breakdown after Music/{{Slash}}'s solo in "Sweet Child o' Mine". The band agreed, but didn't know what they wanted to do. Axl started saying to himself "Where do we go, where do we go now?" while listening to the demo in a loop. Proffer said he should sing that, and the rest is history.
