Given the rest of the High Rulers consist of racists, cheaters, slavers, abusers, genocidal warlords (and one former genocidal warlord who does nothing to atone for her past and tries to sweep her crimes under the rug), religious zealots, rulers who benefit from their people's suffering, a massive ableist who keeps his mentally disabled daughter locked up, a stupid and irresponsible teenager, a guy who got his wife sent to mental hospital for calling him out for cheating on her, and one who straight up has random people kidnapped and tortured to power her secret space program, it's easy to call him a saint.

* In ''WebVideo/TheGuild'', despite the team name of "The Knights of Good", Codex and Vork are the only ones who seem to quest with anything but loot in mind. Then we find out how Vork gets his electricity and internet access [[spoiler: by stealing it from his Alzheimers-afflicted neighbor]]. Offline Codex is the only one who isn't either self-centered or completely divorced from reality.

* In ''WebVideo/TrappedInTheBirdcage'' Reader is more like the token Lawful Teammate as none of the other three are actually evil, just self centered and disregarding of the law which is why Reader keeps a notebook where he records their crimes.

* In ''Literature/MagikOnline'' among Concordia's High Command and dragons in general, the Golden Prince stands out with his strong morals is the only Minister interested in diplomatically assimilating over races into Concordia and building a working culture beyond conquest. He's also the only dragon shown to not have a superiority complex.

Meanwhile, he just wants to merge with technology and finally get "that robot dick".

* ''Literature/{{Worm}}'':
** When she joined the Undersiders, Skitter was originally this, being a HeroicWannabe who only became a bad guy because the first villains she met were the also the first capes who actually treated her with kindness and respect. She eventually comes to downplay this ''hard'', becoming just as ruthless and amoral as her teammates, if never quite losing her altruistic intentions. When she joins the team late in the story, Parian is a much firmer and more consistent version of this trope.
** Burnscar is this for the [[CarnivalOfKillers Slaughterhouse Nine]], being an otherwise-normal girl who was DrivenToVillainy because using her pyrokinesis [[EmotionlessGirl mutes her emotions]]. She deliberately avoids lethally hurting anybody whenever the rest of the Nine isn't around (notably with Faultline's Crew), and generally comes across as much more sympathetic than the rest of her group. Of course being the most sympathetic member of a group of psychopathic serial killers isn't saying all that much.
** [[BigGood Legend]] is this for [[AncientConspiracy Cauldron]], if only because they usually don't provide him with knowledge of their morally shadier dealings. By extension, he's also this for [[spoiler: the Triumvirate, since all three of them are in Cauldron's pocket.]]

*** In terms of politics, Ancom is depicted in the most positive light. While quee is certainly a crazed and violent maniac, quer positions are less morally objectionable than those of the other extremists. Compared to their desires for things like unchecked corporate exploitation, brutal class warfare, and even outright ethnic cleansing, Ancom wanting a society with no hierarchies and horizontal leadership is positively benign -- even if quee does have some out-there ideas, like wanting to give children LSD.
*** But in terms of personality, Ancap is this. He's the [[AffablyEvil most polite]] and [[MartialPacifist least violent]] of the extremists, [[spoiler:flat-out refuses to kill his moderate counterpart despite Anti-Centrist's orders]], and [[spoiler:displays considerable angst over whether he's a good person, unlike his compatriots who either take their presumed righteousness for granted or just don't care]].
