It would have been interesting seeing someone outside of the family having permanent powers, and the fact that the show runners actually considered making him a regular character makes his absence even more disappointing.
* Detective Cho has some good ReasonableAuthorityFigure moments that could have made her a great character for the whole show if [[spoiler:she hadn't died in the second episode.]]
* Except for [[spoiler:a BackForTheDead appearance in the penultimate episode]], the hard-nosed Detective Cordero vanishes from the show just an episode or two after he finally warms up to Jim. This can feel disappointing, as a lot of fans enjoyed this reasonable and outgoing new side to his character.
* Earthquake-inducing Rebecca Patton (who is stealing drugs to try and suppress her powers) and the amnesiac Tom Seeley (who has SuperSmoke powers and wants revenge on the people who transformed him) are both {{One Shot Character}}s. Their cool powers and sympathetic IJustWantToBeNormal characterization cause some fans to wish they'd been recurring characters.
* Chloe and Troy Cotten have some fun interactions with the Powell siblings and [[spoiler:are the children of one of the show's more sympathetic criminals]], but they never show up after their debut episode.
* George's colleague Amanda Grayson is nonfatally shot by one VillainOfTheWeek, is dating George, and is played by Creator/AmyAcker, who is known for some BewareTheSillyOnes roles and appeared in ''Series/{{Angel}}'' along with series regular Creator/JulieBenz (Stephanie). She only has two appearances, where she and Stephanie never get ''Series/{{Angel}}'' {{Shout Out}}s and barely interact, and Amanda doesn't get any moments to be a BadassBystander or especially quirky before vanishing from the show as George starts dating other people.
* Kenny appears in a few episodes as a LovableJock friend of JJ and his final appearance has him stressing out after learning that his girlfriend is pregnant, but then, right when his character is poised for a potential ADayInTheLimelight and potential CharacterDevelopment, he disappears from the show without another mention of him.
* Pyrokinetic villain Theo has one of the most powerful and visually striking power sets of any villain in the show and has an interesting place in the supervillain dynamic by committing his own crimes while not being fully independent of Dr. King, but he only lasts one episode.
* Jim's TrappedByGamblingDebts brother Mike has some good chemistry with him and departs the show as a SecretKeeper and expectant father out to turn his life around. Still, he never does reappear afterward to either help Jim or be helped by him.
