** ''[[VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim Skyrim]]'': Delphine is a rude abrasive {{Jerkass}} who, despite claiming that Blades are created to serve the Dragonborn, constantly orders the latter around. But the biggest source of the fandom's ire comes from the ''Paarthurnax'' quest, where she orders the Dragonborn to slay Paarthurnax (who is shown to be nothing but helpful towards the PlayerCharacter throughout the whole game and is the reason humanity is free from the Dragon's oppression), completely refusing to help them otherwise unless they do what she ordered ([[UngratefulBastard in spite of everything the player did to help her rebuild the Blades]]). To add insult to the injury, the game does not give the PlayerCharacter the opportunity to call her out on this or even murder her instead as she is marked as essential the whole game, with no other way of resolving the quest unless you murdered someone who did more than she did for you. As a result, many of the game's most popular mods involve either adding an alternate resolution to the quest (usually involving the Dragonborn intimidating her to back down) or simply removing her and Esbern's essential status once the quest has started.

** Unfortunately, ''Skyrim'' saw the Altmer take their place due to their association with the [[ANaziByAnyOtherName Thalmor]], even though the game stresses that the Thalmor victimized the Altmer too (they came to power by claiming to have dealt with the Oblivion Crisis; the Altmer in Summerset didn't witness Martin Septim ''actually'' saving the day and only saw the daedra suddenly vanishing, so the Thalmor were able to capitalize on their gratitude to take power, exile or assassinate all threats, and clamp down on all contradictory information) and associating all Altmer with the Thalmor is like claiming AllGermansAreNazis (a significant number of NPC Altmer are ''refugees'' from the Thalmor). It certainly doesn't help that the main mortal villain of the previous game, Mankar Camoran, was an Altmer.

** Nozomi Suemitsu, the "Gourmet King", in ''VideoGame/Persona3'''s Moon Social Link is widely considered the worst Social Link in the entire series, and not entirely without reason. He's disliked for having one of the weakest backstories in the series, as while the impact his brother's death had on him is genuinely sad, the fact that it's only revealed in the final event means it's too little, too late for many. As if Creator/{{Atlus}} was made well-aware of this, both he, Mamoru and Saori are the only Social Link characters who don't appear in ''any'' of the Drama [=CDs=], and while Saori is both well-liked and has the excuse of being the only completely new character as the [=FeMC's=] Hermit social link, and Mamoru is decently-liked as a character and is universally-regarded as an essential Social Link for [[GameBreaker Helel alone]], Nozomi has no such excuse.

Not even ''VideoGame/Persona3Reload'' adding voice acting to the Social Link was enough to redeem him for players, as while his actors do a good job voicing him, he's written more or less the same as his original self was, meaning a lot of players not only were reminded why they didn't like him, but it also introduced new players to him, who ''also'' grew to hate him.

* ''VideoGame/DarkSoulsI'' has two ''very'' different examples.
** [[WhenTreesAttack The Bed of Chaos]], widely considered the ''worst'' boss in not just the game, but the entire franchise. This is primarily because of it being an UnexpectedGameplayChange that focuses on the games unpolished and imprecise platforming mechanics, worsened by the FakeDifficulty of the Bed's attacks usually knocking players into pits while they have no means of responding, clashing massively with the otherwise tough but fair boss design which is a series trademark. The fight is also viewed as being disappointing from a narrative standpoint, cheating players out of a proper fight with [[spoiler:the Witch of Izalith]] in favour of another generic monster, and lacking the satisfaction element which comes with the other major bosses in the game. Even [[https://www.giantbomb.com/forums/dark-souls-6255/dark-souls-design-works-translation-npcs-and-monst-576001/ Miyazaki himself]] admitted to seeing the boss as an OldShame.
** [[SinisterMinister Petrus of Thorolund]] is a HateSink for [[spoiler:his heartless potential murder of Reah and her companions]], but he fails to cross into LoveToHate territory. He lacks any likable or admirable traits, boasts an insufferable SmugSnake attitude, never feels any remorse for his actions, and has an unappealing, slightly {{gonk}}-ish visual design with a horrid bowl haircut. As such, he's become the fandom's favorite punching bag (with many people labeling him an "incel"), and is considered the single most hated NPC in the game.

** You thought the Pegomastax was bad? Wait till you see the Ichthyornis. Fortunately, it won't steal as many stuff as the Pego, but it can make players drop weapons. The real pain though is that they steal mainly food, which has caused people to lose things like veggie cakes, high level wyvern eggs, and kibble to these stupid seagulls. And remember, they eat the WHOLE stack, so you won't get any of those back. Really frustrating considering how risky it is to grab a wyvern egg, let alone a high level one. They spawn on EVERY beach and are a new player's worst nightmare. This can be subverted because once tamed an Ichthyornis is worth keeping, as it can hunt and retrieve for you, allowing players to harvest prime meat from very small creatures like Dodos and Lystrosauruses, and can be used to annoy others on PvP. Some servers may also disable Ichthyornis spawns due to how annoying these birds are.

** Yumi Ozawa, the one of the two Sun Social Links from ''VideoGame/Persona4''. She's constantly rude to you, and not in a funny or endearing way like Kanji or (depending on who you ask) Marie, but in a way that makes her simply unpleasant to be around. ** The Microraptor is NOTORIOUS for how annoying it is. They will target riders on medium-sized creatures and knock them off their mount, stunning them for 10 seconds, and putting them at risk, especially if you're levelling a creature like an Argentavis by killing an Alpha Dinosaur, and then a swarm of Microraptors dismount you off the Argy, and both you and the Argy get killed by the Alpha, all because of one STUPID little creature. Luckily, they're usually skittish, and may run away if approached, but sometimes, especially if they have a pack, they will most certainly attack you and dismount you. The screech they make can be very annoying, but once tamed, they can be used for trolling riders on PvP, and make a nice shoulder pet on Singleplayer and PvE.

** The Pegomastax is one of the most hated creatures in the game because they have the ability to steal from players. Usually the player will kill the pego and retrieve his or her stuff, but the Pegomastax may sometimes get away with the belonging as you don't know where it is. This results in people losing stuff like valuable weapons, armor, blueprints, saddles, consumables, and even cryopodded creatures to these annoying little creatures. Even in-game, it is considered one of the "ugliest" dinosaurs because of it's appearance. And whenever they are not stealing, they are simply annoying and aggressive for no reason, causing them to kill tames set on passive sometimes.
** You thought the Pegomastax was bad? Wait till you see the Ichthyornis. Fortunately, it won't steal as many stuff as the Pego, but it can make players drop weapons. ** During the day, the Troodon is not that annoying, and has a very small aggro radius. However, at nighttime, they become very aggressive, and since it's dark, you won't be able to see them until they pounce you out of nowhere. The bites they inflict have a poison that increases torpidity on humans, and a LOT of torpor, way more than a Scorpion. Once you're unconscious, you are vulnerable to anything as you can't do anything, making you killed easily by the Troodons. And if the tame is on passive, it's much, MUCH worse. It's even worse when you have very strong armor, leaving you in an infinitely unconscious state, and you'll essentially be waiting for YEARS until your dead. Taming them is arguably a stressful job, as it requires live dinosaurs, and they have to be on neutral and unridden, which is very hard to get, although it's easier to simply use baby dinosaurs. Feeding them small creatures like Dodos and Parasaurs will obviously take forever, so the reccomended tames are baby rexes, baby wyverns, or baby gigas. Once FINALLY tamed, it can be useful as base defense and scouting out enemies for PVP and as a trophy for effort on PVE.

** The Cnidaria is probably one of the most overpowered creatures in the game. They ONLY attack players and tames, nothing else, and they will aggro as soon as you start swimming in the ocean. They're rare on most maps, but on some maps like The Island or Fjordur, they are absolutely everywhere and are here to ruin your day. Once you get [[ElectricJellyfish shocked by one]], say goodbye to your precious life, because they only attack like this, and the shocks put you in an infinite stunlock, where you CANNOT move at ALL, and the jellyfish slowly start killing you. People have lost things like Rexes, Spinos, and even GIGAS because of this jellyfish's broken mechanic, as it can dismount a player off their mount too. This can be subverted if you use a Tusoteuthis as it's immune to torpor and you will not be dismounted from one if the jellies attack, not to mention a long attack range that usually kills them before they can reach you, or entirely averted with a Basilosaurus as it's immune to being electrocuted by these Jellyfish. That's also why the Basilo is the go-to underwater caving mount, as underwater caves will have jellyfish. Electric eels in the game are also considered annoying, but they don't have the same stunlock as the jellyfish, though their shocking mechanics can still be a pain to deal with, and it's even worse because they're much weaker once tamed and can't be ridden despite being the same size as an Anglerfish which CAN be ridden.
** Most small weaker creatures like the Dilophosaurus, Compy, Piranha, Leech, and Hyaenodon are simply annoying, with Dilos spawning EVERYWHERE and causing the most deaths while players are offline.

In one ending where you make a Youth Potion that restores her normal age, Astrid '''sabotages''' it to only age her back to 14 with her memories still a wreck, with Astrid delivering the above message. In another, Witch's Tea Party, she forcefully renders all 3 Arland protagonists and herself to be 14 forever, citing it as an "ideal age". Some fans even treat the endings as the MoralEventHorizon. There’s also the fact Steve was a clear substitute for fan favourite Leon, which as you can imagine are shoes he’d never be able to fill.
