* "Lay Me Down" and "Crush": Duke [[spoiler: being forced to killed Wade to protect Jennifer, and how clearly traumatised he is by it and the things his brother did and overcome with guilt, despite Jennifer's attempts to reassure him]]. It carries over into the next episode, where he is still struggling to process everything to the point of lashing out in frustration and self loathing, cumulating in him finally [[WhatTheHellHero calling out]] Audrey and Nathan for their self-centredness.
** Audrey's cold reaction makes it even worse—despite Duke repeatedly going out of his way and even risking his own life to help them, raising a good point about their actions (they aren't even trying all that hard to find another way, either), and being clearly upset and shaken, she just dismisses it all without a second thought. Nathan manages to make her see at the end, but it's a bit jarring for someone who has been so concerned and compassionate towards others.

** The fact that he's one of the ''only'' series-long major characters who [[spoiler: remains dead]] in an ending that has [[spoiler: multiple characters come BackFromTheDead, even one who died pre series]]. Especially since the entire reason [[spoiler: for his sacrifice, Croatoan taking the Troubles collected inside him, is rendered moot when Croatoan gives up his plans and goes back into the Barn, making Duke's death feel more like a SenselessSacrifice]].

* Vince's breakdown after [[spoiler:Dave's death]]. He sobs at [[spoiler:Dave's]] feet, begging him to come back. He then has a breakdown at the police station, waving a Stanley knife and accusing everyone of judging him for [[spoiler:not noticing Croatoan was possessing Dave]]. He has to be sedated. It's only after a stern talking-to by Gloria that he's finally able to grieve [[spoiler:Dave]] properly, openly crying as he holds Gloria's hand and asks her to stay with him.

* "The Lighthouse:" The scene in which Duke actually [[spoiler: kills Ben, which subverts the PreSacrificalGoodbye the scene had been setting up in just the ''worst'' way. Ben is saying goodbye to his son, and tells Gloria and Audrey he's going inside to get the baby's favorite blanket. This leaves them to muse about the existence of an afterlife. A gunshot breaks the calm. The baby starts crying, and nothing happens, which confirms that Ben is now dead. Duke exits the house, traumatized, and hands Gloria the blanket.]]
