* Example about a CompleteMonster being defeated, which is sad because it happened right when said villain was about to kill TheScrappy.
* Example about a CompleteMonster using CrocodileTears to manipulate someone. They were only pretending to be sad, but if you take the scene out of context, ignoring all of the horrible things this villain has done and will go on to do, it superficially looks like an emotional moment, so it can count.

* The fact that the adults and children are trapped in a looping cycle by the Signal Tower and can never escape no matter what they try.
* Six’s grief-stricken breakdown at the beginning of chapter one of the first arc as she struggles with the losses of Raine and Mono can tug at a few heartstrings. This is then followed up by Six considering suicide to end the pain, however implied by the story, it never worked.
* It’s even worse in the narration with the use of music and crying sound effects.
* Makes it even worse when you realize she’s done this before and it’s implied not once was she able to save her loved ones.
* Raine shedding tears at the realization that she’ll never see Six who she continues to be a little sister, or any of the kids she rescued or her family again.
* Mono blankly staring out at the Pale City from one of the House’s open windows , mourning over the loss of his comrades at the house and the betrayal of Six, the latter nearly bringing him to tears.
A bit of dialogue reveals that the Signal Tower cruelly dug tv cables into his back in an ironic mockery of Six’s betrayal she did at the end of the second game. Ouch.
A bit heartwarming as despite every cycle that went on, Mono could never get himself to hate Six.
Six being scared to the point of shedding tears as she, Liz and Raine fly in the rough winds of the storm in chapter 7.
The Lady sorrowfully gazing out the main window of the Maw’s control room much to the concern of the Wax Bellman and the hooded children.
Also this dialogue:
The Lady: “They’re out there, they’re heading in the direction of the storm. Oh please be okay Liz and Raine. Please be okay Six.”
Six grieving over the loss of her friend when the trio wash up on the beaches of the Pale City wilderness. Thankfully she’s alive and okay, but still.
Hell, even the dialogue is tearjerking: “Raine? Raine? No, no, no Raine, you can’t be dead, you can’t. No please, please, don’t leave me, please…you can’t fucking leave me. Not now, not after all this, not after all this pain of trying to survive only to lose you to her…please…I know I fucked up…but you can’t leave me. I’m sorry, I’m sorry…for not being able to save you…I’m so fucking sorry…I love you…”
The Lady’s hidden grief relating to the loss of her daughter at the Nest, even if she covers it up with her usual stoic demeanor, the grief is still there.
