* Finding out that [[spoiler: Nicole was DeadAllAlong]] in Dead Space. Despite being a HeroicMime, You can help but feel sorry for Isaac at the part.
-->[[spoiler: ''Nicole:'']] I didn't want it to end like this. I really wanted to see you again...just once. I loved you. I've always loved you.
** The animation Isaac goes through during the revelation - even though you never see his face, his body language speaks volumes for just how badly it hits him. Even worse if you read his in-game diary: [[spoiler:he knew Nicole was dead, but kept himself in denial up until that point]]. Ouch.
** [[spoiler: Kendra]] rubbing salt in the wound by calling Isaac insane for [[spoiler: hallucinating Nicole]] doesn't help either.
** The worst part is easily during the final cutscene of the game. After reaching safety, Isaac removes his helmet and the video of Nicole once again begins to play. [[spoiler: He briefly closes his eyes for a moment, clearly in subdued anguish at seeing it knowing now that she kills herself at the end.]] Unwilling to watch it again, he turns the video off.
* The audio log from the poor bastard who ''cut all his own limbs off'' to keep himself from being a danger when he got infected--and only asks that someone tell his wife and kids that he loves them.
** What makes it even worse? [[spoiler:It didn't work.]] Although, his efforts weren’t futile in the long run, since when he did become infected [[spoiler: the resulting Slasher only had one working limb and was barely even a threat, greatly diminishing the threat he posed and making it vastly easier for Isaac to finish the job he started]].
* Finally finding Acting Chief Engineer Jacob Temple and Dr. Elizabeth Cross, whose audio logs you've been listening to through half the game. After going through hell to find each other again [[ShootTheShaggyDog they get captured by Dr. Mercer and killed off right in front of you]]. And try as you may, ''you can't do anything to save them.''
* In the colony, in the room where you find Neumans emergency broadcast, there is a writing on the wall addressed to someones father, to not leave things unsaid.
* [[spoiler: The gruesome death of Hammond, considering he was pretty much one of the few semi-decent characters.]]
* [[spoiler: Dr. Kyne's death and his last words to his long dead wife]].
** [[spoiler: It's somehow worse on a second playthrough, as you know it's coming but can do absolutely nothing to help the poor guy.]]
* The game's (and trailer's) rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star", even if NightmareFuel unleaded, can also be pretty damn sad depending on the context. Doesn't really helps that the singer sounds like she's crying her eyes out (or doing her damnedest to hold back tears) while singing.
