However, it turns out his wife had found him in bed with that woman, jumped to the wrong conclusion and killed the "mistress." She's led away in cuffs as the man begs Horatio "tell me this is part of the game" and Caine can only give a grim shake of the head.

Now, imagine you are a mother and suddenly two people suddenly accuse you of kidnapping their child, even if it's your own. Then having someone hold YOU back while they kidnap her and you are powerless to stop them. THAT is terrifying and having to see a mother break down into tears over the whole thing and being desperate throughout is kinda hard to watch.
