** There's a FridgeHorror element to this, as well (or Fridge Tear Jerk, if you prefer): Cats are often lost ''accidentally'' during a move, whether it's due to the cat freaking out at all the upheaval, or just due to people running out of time to look for their wayward outdoor cat. So it's entirely possible that Mittens' family ''did'' love her very much and are just as heart-broken as she is at their separation, and she'll never know.

* The moment where Bolt finally realizes he isn't a super dog: he thinks he was able to escape from the pound trunk, only to learn it was Rhino who helped him out. Then he sees his "birthmark", really a tattoo, is beginning to smudge. The sad look he has when he rubs the tattoo and finds ink is just soul-crushing, as his world comes crashing down around him.

*** [[SarcasmMode Oh, but it gets better!]] Many pet owners are unaware at how declawing an animal isn't just painful, but makes it impossible for them to defend themselves. If we're to assume that this is what happened, it's the equivalent of accidentally blinding someone, then leaving without telling them. In fact, many veterinarians refuse to do this procedure, believing it's too cruel.

* If there's one thing Creator/{{Disney}} is notorious for, it's for being good at getting viewers to cry but even then, ''Bolt'' is considered one of their most tearjerking movies yet.

* Bolt and Penny finding a way out of the burning building, only to discover that the vent is big enough for him, but not her. And there's no way Bolt [[UndyingLoyalty is going to leave her behind]]. The look on poor Bolt's face when he thinks his beloved owner is dead.

** What follows this scene is Penny's Mom asking in fear if anyone found her daughter, with none of the crew being able to help her. If you're a parent, this part will shake you to your core.

* Oh, God, the bit where Penny's mom is searching through the crowd outside of the burning set.

* Surprisingly, Rhino, the comedy relief side character, out of all people gets one during the climax when he uses his hamster ball to prop up the falling rubble of the studio so Bolt can get inside and save Penny. Even though it was clearly the ball that was holding up the rubble and not Rhino, the fact that he was willing to die just so Bolt can save Penny is a mixture of TearJerker/Heartwarming. Though, had it not been for Mittens rushing in and pulling Rhino into safety, imagine what could have happened to him.

* If there's one thing Creator/{{Disney}} is notorious for, it's for being good at getting viewers to cry but even then, ''Bolt'' is considered [[UpToEleven one of their most tearjerking movies yet]].

* Penny trying to get Bolt to play with his squeaky carrot toy. It's a small sign that this lifestyle has stopped him from even knowing how to behave like a real dog. His replacement is later seen playing happily with it, showing that, while he's not as talented as Bolt, he's at least a normal dog.

* Having finally accepted the world as he knew it was a lie, Bolt continues holding on to the one true thing he has left - the love of his person - only for [[spoiler: the first thing he sees after reaching the studio to be Penny in rehearsal, hugging the [[TheOtherDarrin studio's replacement Bolt]].]] And he leaves just before he can see [[spoiler:[[OutOfContextEavesdropping just how miserable she is without him]].]]
