* The bull terrier himself is a rather troubled character as well. When he first shows up, he's [[AngryGuardDog extremely agressive and vicious]], to the point where he initially seems to be a completely [[AxCrazy feral brute who only cares about tearing his targets apart]]. Yet all it takes for him to change his ways is one ''single'' act of kindness from Babe, the very same animal he was trying to kill. This moves him so much that wastes no time in [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe becoming very loyal to the little pig]], and even opens his heart to him, revealing he believes it's his "job" to be so vicious and implying he was never allowed a chance to be anything else before.

* A good chunk of the story from the Landlady's perspective is heartbreaking. Imagine one of your loved ones has to be rushed to the hospital and you go with them hoping that they’ll be alright, only to watch them die right in front of you. You return home in a state of depression and things only get worse when you find out your home has been ransacked while you were away. You'd be very upset, too.

* The scene with Flealick chasing a car, [[spoiler:almost dying, and briefly finding himself in a sunny green field where he jumps at butterflies with his wheelchair abandoned to the side]] is almost too much for any person to take.

* Despite behaving like a {{Jerkass}} for most of the time, Thelonius is a pretty tragic character if you think about it too much. Take for example Uncle Fugly's death and his reaction to it.
-->'''Thelonius:''' I couldn't wake him. I tried. But he wouldn't wake up.

* One can't help but feel a little sorry for [[ButtMonkey Esme]] as well. Not only did she get bombarded with a ton of work on the farm after Arthur's injury, she was forced to leave her injured husband's side and embark on a business trip when her efforts prove to be insufficient to save their home from foreclosure. From the moment she steps out of the farm, she gets dragged into a new and hostile world full of shady people and goes through many humiliating situations, and yet keeps fighting for both her beloved husband and Babe's sake, never once showing any concern for herself. While her misfortunes are all played for laughs, it can still be fairly saddening to see this motherly and devoted wife being humiliated to hell and back, all because she just [[CountryMouse doesn't know how to fit in with the urban denizens]].

** It's also [[FridgeHorror rather concerning that he was so savage in the first place]], considering that animals are just as sentient as humans in this setting. What kind of upbringing did this poor dog have to have such a bleak view of the world and on his own existence?

* The animals getting taken away by the pound people. Their whimpers and screams of sorrow as well as the soundtrack make that scene hard to watch without choking.

-->'''Narrator:''' Something broke through the terror--flickerings, fragments of his short life, the random events that delivered him to this, his moment of annihilation. As terror gave way to exhaustion, Babe turned to his attacker, his eyes filled with one simple question:\\
'''Babe:''' Why?
