* Once Janet is able to see Kang for what he really is she has a SadisticChoice to make: Look the other way, go home, and get her lost time back with her family, or destroy the core, sparing trillions but staying trapped in the Quantum Realm, with the belief at the time that it was the only ticket back to Earth. She chooses to sacrifice her family for the safety of the multiverse, but you can tell how much it hurt and how hard it was for her.

* Janet's ordeal throughout the film: she's forced back into the Quantum Realm after being trapped inside it for thirty years, pursued by the very man she swore to never speak of again and is clearly terrified out of her wits, not just for her family, but for her life. She can't even bring herself to talk openly about all she endured to her husband and daughter. She's filled with obvious SurvivorGuilt and she spends quite a bit of the movie with a ThousandYardStare, not unlike J. Robert Oppenheimer after the Manhatten Project.

* It can be a sad moment for Darren, when he angrily yells at Scott and Cassie that "Darren" is dead and only MODOK remains, being deformed, become to Darren Cross, a businessman Smug, Jerkass and a PsychopathicManchild in the maniac MODOK. You have to feel a little sorry for this man.

* LaResistance is doing quite well in their frontline assault on Kang's stronghold with the help of Ant-Man and Wasp, but once Kang enters the battlefield, it takes a horrifying turn. Jentorra soon finds herself desperately trying to get her people away from the rampaging Conqueror, but more and more are dying before her eyes. Perhaps the most awful is Xolon's death, who dies right before her by getting his laser redirected right through his head.

* Scott being ForcedToWatch as Kang tortures Cassie to make him comply. He begs with all the grievance of a desperate father to Kang for him to let her go, willing to endure every ounce of pain himself if he only leaves his baby girl alone.
* Cassie has a severe personal crisis when she realizes just how awful the situation is, as Scott is forced into Kang's servitude and has to risk his life just to spare hers. It's utterly heart-breaking how she breaks free of her captor's restraints just to run and leap into her father's arms, crying and apologizing that they're in this mess. Scott is quick to assure her she's not the one to blame, but Cassie spends much of the movie atoning for this.
* While it's mostly PlayedForLaughs, M.O.D.O.K./Darren Cross' death is still quite tragic. He finally saw the error of his ways and wanted to do something good for once in his life. The only comfort is he died a hero in the end, with Scott even (reluctantly) acknowledging him as an Avenger.
