* ''WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones'' was pretty much an animated version of ''Series/TheHoneymooners'', only [[AC:[[RecycledInSpace in prehistoric times!]] The similarities were so obvious that Jackie Gleason, who created ''The Honeymooners'' and played Ralph Kramden on the show, considered suing Creator/HannaBarbera, only to relent upon being told that getting one of the most popular shows on TV canceled would probably stain his reputation for years to come.

Added DiffLines:

* Much like the ''Flintstones''/''Honeymooners'' example above, ''WesternAnimation/TopCat'' was basically Creator/HannaBarbera's animated version of ''Series/ThePhilSilversShow'', only with a cast of [[FunnyAnimal talking cats]]. They even got Maurice Gosfield, who played Private Duane Doberman on ''The Phil Silvers Show'', as the voice for Benny the Ball, while Arnold Stang's voicework for the title character was an impression of Silvers' voice as Sgt. Bilko.

Both characters have a different framing device than others, focusing on TheLancer of the show, both are also extremely sad and emotional episodes in which [[spoiler:the FramingDevice turns out to be false. Robin never had any kids and was telling the story to herself to cope with it and Ruthie telling a story to her class is actually just a make-believe scenario that Princess Carolyn uses to feel better]]

A modern person discovers an old stick/cane underground which turns out to be the disguised weapon of a mythological god/hero, which transforms him into said god/hero. Greg regrets this similarity.

** It could also be seen as a Western animated adaptation of ''Franchise/KamenRider,'' as it revolves around a male HenshinHero with a transformation/henshin device to transform into various forms, with other characters that assist him. It's also a sci-fi series that deals with aliens that challenge the hero to battle like ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' and ''Franchise/PowerRangers'' and some series of ''Kamen Rider.''

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'' is probably the closest we'll get to an animated series based on Creator/DouglasAdams' work.
** The episode, The Late Philip J. Fry is one for "Literature/TheTimeMachine".
** It's also been referred to as ''Series/RedDwarf'': ''The Animated Series''.
* ''WesternAnimation/TaleSpin'' [[Series/TalesoftheGoldMonkey Of The Gold Monkey]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers'' is this to ''WesternAnimation/JonnyQuest'' as it shares not only the same premise, but the same continuity as well. (Race dies at the beginning of a season 1 episode, and adult Jonny becomes a reoccurring character.)
* ''WesternAnimation/ReBoot'' is this to ''{{Disney/Tron}}'', but limits the User to PlayerCharacter in Games and DeusExMachina, focusing on the lives of the programs instead. Also increased the premise's scope beyond a single system by factoring in the internet.
* ''WesternAnimation/TimeSquad'' is just Sherman & Peabody, if Peabody was a gay robot and Sherman had Peabody's genius mind and were accompanied by a CowboyCop.
* ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack'' has an identical premise to Creator/FrankMiller's comic from the 80's, ComicBook/{{Ronin}}.
* ''WesternAnimation/GIJoeRenegades'' may as well have been an animated remake of ''Series/TheATeam''

* ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'':
** ''Regular Show'' is this generation's ''WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButthead'', complete with the non sequitur but hilarious humor and the slacker protagonists, who are pretty much Beavis and Butthead in animal form.
** ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'' is even more of this to ''VideoGame/SamAndMax'', only set in California rather than New York - Sam and Mordecai being the taller , laidback straight men to the short and easily annoyed Max and Rigby especially. In both shows, the characters have been inseparable friends since childhood, find themselves in extremely strange situations, and solve mysteries, and are basically the only people who can put up with each other. The main difference is obviously that SamAndMax are freelance detectives, whereas Mordecai and Rigby are park workers under contract to Mr Maillard (albeit with Benson supervising them).
*** There are also pretty obvious parallels with ''WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants'' in ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'', some feeling that it is Cartoon Network's version of the show. If nothing else, Benson is clearly an {{Expy}} for Squidward.
* The ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' animated series has more in common with the comic book ''ComicBook/YoungJustice'' rather than the original ''ComicBook/TeenTitans'' series it was based on. In fact, it was originally pitched as a ''Young Justice'' show. In contrast, the ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'' animated series which was released years later is more like the comic book ''Teen Titans''.
* ''WesternAnimation/WackyRaces'' is fairly close to being an AnimatedAdaptation of ''Film/TheGreatRace''.

* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'':

* The ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'' episode "Hearts and Minds" heavily reimagines the mythology behind the DC villain Despero to make him a former outcast desert nomad who used his psychic powers to rise from obscurity and become a tyrannical prophet, promising to remake his barren home planet into a lush paradise and lead his armies in a fanatical religious crusade across the galaxy. The result? The closest thing to an animated ''Literature/{{Dune}}'' adaptation that you'll ever see.
* ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'' is the best animated adaptation of ''Literature/TheSpiderwickChronicles.''

* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' is an animated adaptation of ''Toys/MilkyWayAndTheGalaxyGirls'' featuring [[CivilizedAnimal anthropomorphic]] ponies instead of [[AnthropomorphicPersonification anthropomorphic]] planets. The Mane Six are [[{{expy}} strikingly similar]] to the Girlaxy. The similarities are due to the fact they share a creator.
