* Dr. Gel's Hyperdimensional Magic Hand is controlled using what looks like a UsefulNotes/{{Wii}} Remote (or a Playstation Move controller) and resembles {{Creator/Nintendo}}'s [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_Hand Ultra Hand]].

** Which might have been a [[EarlyBirdCameo hint]] about Namco releasing a ''Space Dandy'' themed ''Galaga'' game for mobile, appropriately titled ''Space Galaga''.

* Aliens resembling [[Film/{{Ghostbusters}} Slimer]] and Film/ETTheExtraterrestrial can be seen in several scenes.

* The bird perched on the column Dandy is chained to looks very similar to [[Anime/CowboyBebop Vicious' pet crow]].

* There's a PastelChalkedFreezeFrame of a bruised and bloodied but still smiling Dandy as he passes out that looks [[AshitaNoJoe strangely familiar]]...

* Honey's pink spacecraft (and possibly Honey herself) was a nod to Penelope Pitstop in ''WesternAnimation/WackyRaces''. The design of the car resembles one that appeared in ''Anime/AbenobashiMahouShoutengai''.

** Special mention must be made of the 'shounen manga hero' Dandy, who moves and vocalizes like Creator/MichaelJackson [[note]] complete with crotch grab and Jamone [[/note]], flies on a [[Manga/DragonBall magical cloud]], and is searching for people with [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure star-shaped birthmarks]]. And just to top it off, he was pretty clearly designed by the artists of ''Anime/SuperMilkChan''.

* The teacher conducting the teleporter experiment is a [[Film/TheFly fly-man]].

* The Little Aloha's [[TransformingMecha transforming]] HumongousMecha almost perfectly replicates the [[Anime/GunBuster Super Inazuma Kick]] when fighting the Deathgarian, minus the [[CallingYourAttacks Attack Calling]].

* Squeak, Prince's rat teammate who's also a lawyer, is a TakeThat to both MickeyMouse and {{Disney}}'s notorious litigiousness. He also resembles Kenji's hijacked avatar character in ''Anime/SummerWars''.

* At the beginning of the episode, Meow has what appears to be a {{McDonalds}} cup.

* The appearance of the Armed Legendary Equipment Legendary Giant Weapon is based on the Ideon in the ''SpaceRunawayIdeon'' series. This is perhaps no surprise given that veteran mecha designer Kunio Okawara was involved in the episode's production.

* Multiple occurences echo the ''Star Trek: The Next Generation'' episode "Cause and Effect", where the ''USS Enterprise NCC-1701-C'' and its crew are stuck in a time loop.

** The flying car Dandy attempts to escape in explodes in midflight. At the end of every loop in the TNG episode, the Enterprise blows up just as Captain Jean-Luc Picard makes the order to abandon ship.

* The firing sequence for the [[WaveMotionGun Aloha Beam]] is straight out of ''SpaceBattleshipYamato''.

* Dr. Gel's Hyperdimensional Magic Hand is controlled using what looks like a {{Wii}} Remote (or a Playstation Move controller) and resembles {{Nintendo}}'s [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_Hand Ultra Hand]].

** Several scenes within this (especially the 'running up a steep staircase wearing geta' bit) are a callback to ''Anime/GunBuster'' in particular, and comes complete with a gloriously cheesy vocal theme that parodies the kind used in any number of similar montages in 70s and 80s anime.

* Isaac the bully/jock with his [[TheIncredibleHulk "Isaac smash!" and green skin.]]

* The overall premise of the episode (focus on a GenkiGirl, hyper-stylistic drawing, loving nature and exploration, and ''[[DoingItForTheArt many scenes]]'' of SceneryPorn) are practically StudioGhibli InSpace.

* Another contest goer looks suspiciously like MCHammer.

** Additionally, the scene where Bea [[spoiler: shoots Dr. Gel]] looks very similar to when Gendo [[spoiler: shoots Ristuko.]]

* The Gentooan mind swapping ability and its 666 second limit might be a CreatorInJoke by the episode's writer, considering [[ValvraveTheLiberator another recent show he worked on]].

* The Jaicro Empire seems to employ HumongousMecha that look like either the [[GundamUnicorn Unicorn or Banshee Gundams]]

* After beating up the Gogol mooks sent to capture Dandy at the ramen shop, Scarlet [[StarWars apologizes to the owner for the mess]] as she pays the bill.

* When Meow checks in at Boobies, a quick blink-and-you'll-miss-it tweet mentions [[StarWars Tatooine]].

* On that note, there's also the space train, which recalls the one from [[Main/GalaxyExpress999 another famous Leiji Matsumoto work]].

** The A.L.E. also has a head and barrels reminiscent of a [[MobileSuitGundam Guncannon]].

* Scarlett's ex-boyfriend is a [[Franchise/{{Gundam}} Mobile Suit pilot]] wearing a Universal Century Earth Federation Space Force pilot suit and piloting what looks like a cross between a Gundam and a [[MobileSuitGundamF91 Crossbone Vanguard mobile suit]]. His name is Dolph, and looks just like Creator/DolphLundgren.

* There's a brief instance where, when describing how adult women have big boobs and round asses, Dandy seems to imitate [[CrayonShinChan Shin Chan]].

* The fight between the giant robot and super-sized QT bears some resemblance to the Eva vs Angel fights of {{Evangelion}}, particularly those from RebuildOfEvangelion.

** The [[http://i.imgur.com/BAkdFzt.png patterns on the surface of Legado]] bear a strong resemblance to [[Series/DoctorWho Circular Gallifreyan writing]].

* During the cross-examination of Meow, it's revealed that Dandy once tried to sell Meow at a pet shop, couldn't get a lot of money, and decided to keep him on the crew. This is much like how Ein joined the crew in the second episode of ''CowboyBebop''.

** The phenomenon known as gestalzerfall was [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8QbErR2tfM previously examined]] in ''Anime/DetectiveConan''.
