** King Dedede is sporting a tuxedo and hat in this game, dressing up as [[Characters/BatmanThePenguin The Penguin from Batman.]]
** Nightmare Angel is an octahedron of SinisterGeometry inspirations, shaped just like [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Ramiel.]]
** Nightmare Reaper is clearly based on TheGrimReaper, but the cloak and expressions are inspired by [[Franchise/MastersOfTheUniverse Skeletor]].

** Stage 5 of Spooky Seaside tours Kirby through an underground gallery, inspired by the VideoGame/{{Ib}}'s Guertena Gallery.
** Stage 3 of Skull Street has the player take float in a [[Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus flying circus]], while the Clown face exterior is modeled after the Circus stage in VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom2 in the game's artwork.
