Granted, [[spoiler:she did [[HeelFaceTurn have a change of heart]]]], but the initial duels between them was so memorable that it stuck in a lot of players' minds.

* After the "Unreconciled Stars" Event, some players ship Scaramouche with either the Traveler, or Mona. Fans of the latter like to have Mona acting all smug towards Scaramouche after he demands to know how she recognized him as a threat. [[spoiler:The announcement that Scaramouche would become playable under the moniker "Wanderer" seems to have only boosted the ship's popularity.]]

* In Shenhe's character trailer, her interactions with Chongyun struck a chord with some fans. With the revelation that Shenhe and Chongyun are aunt and nephew, it just makes those fans more excited. Japanese fans are especially ecstatic with the ship due to the "onee-shota" (mature woman x young boy) dynamic, to the point where the term trended on Website/{{Twitter}} after the trailer dropped.

** Childe/Zhongli have many different name combinations for their ship, but the most commonly used ones are "[[EdibleThemeNaming Chili]]", "Tartali", "[=ZhongZi=]" [[note]]Zi is based off of Childe’s Chinese name, Gongzi[[/note]] and "[=TaruSho=]" [[note]] This is primarily the Japanese ship name written out as "タル鍾". "タル/Taru" is based off of the Japanese pronunciation of Tartaglia and "鍾/Sho" is part of Zhongli’s Japanese name, "鍾離/Shouri".[[/note]]

* Soon after Yelan was revealed, people began to ship her with Shenhe due to Shenhe being the next most recent Liyue 5-star, both of them being [[MsFanservice highly attractive ladies]], and the aesthetic similarities between them and the often-shipped Xingqiu and Chongyun. Come Yelan's release, and she ended up having no connections with or voicelines about Shenhe at all.

* Another rare ship is Alhaitham and Layla. While Layla is aware of Alhaitham (as seen in her ''About: Alhaitham'' voice-line), the only interaction they have is Alhaitham providing commentary on Layla during the ''A Parade of Providence'' event, but that is only due to his role as a commentator. Otherwise Alhaitham doesn't seem very aware of Layla, not even having an ''About'' voice-line for her. Even so, they still have a small following among fans.

Due in part to the game's popularity and the communities extensive reach, the western end of the fandom has become particularly infamous for its infighting concerning ships.

* After the conclusion of Chapter IV Act V, Wriothesley/Neuvillette and Neuvillette/Furina shippers quickly fought like cats and dogs on which pairing is better, citing age gap discourses and power dynamics as reasons why the other ship is problematic. Wriothesley/Neuvillette shippers even argue that Neuvillette/Furina is an incestuous pairing since they fit a familial dynamic more (due to Furina's short female model and histronic personality) while Neuvillette/Furina shippers fire back that the two see each other as equals with many ShipTease moments and point out that miHoYo themselves has paid content creators to promote the two in various media.

* From Fontaine, Navia/Clorinde shippers normally pair Neuvillette/Wriothesley, while the Neuvillette/Navia fans also ship Wriothesley/Clorinde.

* Shippers immediately latched onto Alhaitham/Kaveh after Kaveh's reveal due to their LikeAnOldMarriedCouple dynamic and the fact that they're canonically described as "roommates" (which in and of itself is a meme for an entirely different reason). The first scene we see of them together is of the two arguing. As well, leaving the scene and returning immediately after will feature yet ''another'' NPC conversation of the two arguing.

** [[LauncherOfAThousandShips Zhongli]]/[[spoiler:[[PostHumousCharacter Guizhong]]. The latter is stated to have died long ago before the events of the game take place.]]
** It's not unusual to see Kazuha shipped with his deceased friend ([[FanNickname often named Tomo by fans]]) who was killed by the Raiden Shogun. The fact that Kazuha keeps [[TragicKeepsake his friend's Vision]] with him also helps, [[spoiler:although he ends up leaving it on said friend's grave after successfully reawakening it and ending the Vision Hunt Decree]].

* Kaeya has a big fanbase that ships him with [[IncestYayShipping Diluc]], Amber, Rosaria, Albedo, Eula, [[ShipsThatPassInTheNight Tartaglia]], and the Traveler. As of version 3.5, Kaeya has also been shipped with Dainsleif.
* Kazuha has been paired with Gorou, Ayaka, the Traveler, Beidou, Xinyan, his late friend, Heizou, and even Scaramouche.

** Right after all the Harbingers debuted as a group in the ''A Winter Night's Lazzo'' trailer, despite little detailed information available about their individual dynamics or personalities, Arlecchino was most popularly shipped with Columbina due to their real-life counterparts being a couple, as well as the other female Harbingers to a lesser extent. Dottore is also commonly shipped with Pantalone as their real-life counterparts are character {{Foils}}, and the Wanderer's voice line about Pantalone's "choice of partner" and him working closely to the Doctor added fuel to the fire.
