** One of the many things about Carlton that annoyed Antonio was the fact that he kept addressing him as Angelo, despite Antonio's constant efforts to correct him.

* LeapDay: Roy was born on Feb 29 and holds a birthday party for himself every 4 years, where he pretends to be one quarter of his real age. While Roy acknowledges his real age, he demands that everyone follow the tradition of throwing him a kids' party based on his Leap Year age.

Not related to the 1927 Academy Award winning film ''Film/{{Wings}}'' (also produced by Creator/{{Paramount}}), [[Music/{{Wings}} Paul McCartney's '70s solo group]], the final volume of the ''Literature/NomesTrilogy'', the Creator/DiscoveryChannel show about military airplanes which eventually spawned its own network (now known as the Creator/MilitaryChannel,) or WingedHumanoid.

* CommutingOnABus: Though Rebecca Schull remained credited for every episode, she cut back on her appearances for the final two seasons, resulting in Fay taking a number of vacations.

* {{Mondegreen}}: Antonio misheard the lyrics of a song to be ''My goat knows the bowling score'', when it's actually ''Michael row the boat ashore''. And then the next line (''Sister, help to mend the sail'') as ''Sid's new hair is in the mail''.

* ComicallyInappropriateFuneralUrn: One episode has the group try to help Fay [[spoiler: scatter the ashes of her late husband George]]. As they're flying to the drop-off point in the plane, Brian [[spoiler:breaks the urn and they have to vacuum up the ashes with a Dustbuster. They end up using that to scatter the ashes]].

* WhoIsLaughingNow: Joe has a tendency to do this whenever Brian's gotten himself into trouble he can't talk his way out of.

* ButNotTooGay: When Antonio unknowingly enters into a same sex relationship with a gay TV star, the episode ends with the gay actor bizarrely showing his affection for Antonio by kissing him on the nose instead of the lips. Most likely because Tony Shalhoub or the network (or both) didn't feel comfortable with a same sex kiss.

* OneSteveLimit: A minor subversion; all of Fay's husbands are named George. [[BlackHumor They're all dead, too]]. When she gets into a relationship with someone named Lyle, she plans to marry him until she finds out that his first name is George.

* OutOfOrder: In "Just Call Me Angel", Antonio mentions having recently moved in with Brian. The episode where this takes place, "House of Blues", was produced earlier but would not be broadcast until afterward.

* RealSongThemeTune: Piano sonata No. 20 by Music/FranzSchubert. Doubles as an InstrumentalThemeTune.

* BatmanGambit: In "The Puppetmaster," Brian hires an actor to play Helen's ideal man, who is supposed to make Helen fall in love with him, then he'll confess that he's a pilot so that Helen erases the 'no dating pilots' rule, and she'll no longer be able to use that excuse for Brian. This [[HilarityEnsues fails]] later, of course.

* DoubleStandard: Joe declaring that Helen and Davis' impending marriage is "''our'' marriage!" is considered romantic and passionate and results in Helen accepting his proposal. Sandy Cooper declaring that his and Helen's impending wedding is "''our'' wedding!" and actually staging one is presented as the behavior of a deeply disturbed woman.
** Even Brian falls victim to this, despite being a man--Joe denounces his efforts to get Alex back even as he's preparing to chase after Helen.
