* TheBadGuyWins: Gert learned this the hard way in "Miss Lenigem" where he thought to teach Alberto a lesson that Miss Lenigem can't be easily interested in him by prank calling him and making him think that Miss Lenigem accepted his marriage offer, this somewhat backfired as Miss Lenigem actually showed up, but only to take Alberto, Burgemeester and Octaaf on a date instead of marrying them, leaving Gert devastated.

* FurryConfusion: Consistently avoided throughout the franchise. Although Samson has been in contact with lots of animals through the years, no other dog has ever appeared alongside Samson to avoid confusion with the fact that Samson is, obviously unlike real dogs, able to talk and no one in the franchise's universe seems to consider it unusual. The only other dog that the franchise mentions is Samson's girlfriend Bobientje, but she is never seen (apart from a non-speaking cameo in a music video) and is otherwise somewhat implied to be similar to Samson.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** The parental bonuses were taken UpToEleven in the Farewell Concerts of Samson en Gert in 2019 and 2022, of which they also organised late evening shows that were specifically targeted at nostalgic adults. In these specific shows, most sketches were purposefully spiced up with all kinds of DemographicallyInappropriateHumour, verging into the territories of SelfParody.

* An additional running gag is that people always tend to knock on Samson and Gert's door while one of them is in the middle of a sentence, which frequently causes confusion in the conversation.
* In early episodes, Samson and Gert would frequently be called up by local snack bar owner Fred Kroket on the most inappropriate moments, only to ask them if they would be interested in buying mayonnaise and pickles. Not even in five-liter jars.

* ParentalBonus: Not so much in the television series, but the live shows have always tended to include little gags that are meant to amuse the parents that accompany the children in the audience. The occurance of these gags has however clearly increased in later shows, mostly from those of the late 2010's on, in which the cast and crew have begun to deliberately sneak in content that isn't really targeted at children (mostly subtle double entendres, LampshadeHanging and self-referential jokes). This tendency can be explained by the fact that the cast en crew of the franchise are pretty much aware that most parents who take their children to the shows in the 2010's, have likely grown up with the franchise themselves in the 1990's, and thus pretty much enjoy the characters from their youth being involved in some ironic 'adult' humour.

* ParentalBonus: Something that is increasingly prevalent in the later live shows, in which the cast and crew have begun to deliberately sneak in content that is specifically meant for parents and older audiences to enjoy (mostly sexual innuendos and subtle self-mockery). The increasing occurance of these kind of humour in the live shows of the 2010's, has mostly to do with the fact that those shows increasingly began to attract people who grew up with the show in the 90's and now came to the shows with their own children.

This became only subverted in the 2017 summer series, in which 25 years later, when Joop's brother Jaap Mengelmoes appears.appeared in the 2017 summer series.

* CharacterOutlivesActor: In december 2003, Ann Petersen, the actress who played Jeannine, died. Jeannine herself is still implied to be alive in-unverse however, as some dialogue referring to her seems to indicate. There have been numerous tributes to the character in subsequent live shows and video clips, most notably in the Christmas show of 2003-2004, as a way to commemorate Petersen.
