* GainaxEnding: The "What If Doctor Doom Became a Hero?" Elseworld ends with the vile Mephisto, annoyed with Doom successfully rescuing my mother's soul much earlier than in the normal canon, [[MoralEventHorizon forcing me into a]] SadisticChoice between him taking the soul of my lover, or my own. Doom reluctantly chose the former because I could not let the vast good I had done for the world to be erased, and vowed to rescue my lover from Mephisto. The story ended at this moment, but there can be no doubt in the end Doom was successful.

But do NOT call me a coward for that.

** When Shadowcat, a member of the {{X-Men}}, was very grievously injured and on the verge of death after a battle with the villainous Marauders, the X-Men foolishly asked Reed Richards to heal her. When Richards displayed his utter incompetence in failing to do so, in my infinite kindness I used my own far superior talents to restore Shadowcat to life. Although Doom does not care whether such a meager being as Shadowcat lived or died, it was indeed worthwhile to demonstrate Richards' chronic inferiority.

* DealWithTheDevil: Mephisto and I had a specific deal that allowed me to attempt to rescue my mother from Hell once a year, but each time I failed, the people of Latveria would hate me more and more. I eventually succeeded with some slight assistance from Doctor Strange. Though admittedly, with a [[PyrrhicVillainy very heavy price]].

** In an old [[{{Elseworlds}} What If]] story the experiment to rescue my mother from Hell goes without a hitch, resulting in a universe where Doom becomes Earth's greatest hero and marries the love of his life. However, because of my actions, Doom earns the ire of [[GhostRider Mephisto]] who imposes on him a... stringent SadisticChoice...

** On another occasion, an alternate universe Doom rescued a Franchise/FantasticFour formed of GhostRider, TheIncredibleHulk, {{Wolverine}} and Franchise/{{Spider-Man}} from being slain by their enemies. Once again, although Doom does not care as to whether these individuals lived or died, the principle remains that Doom --'''and Doom alone'''-- has [[TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou the right to destroy the Fantastic Four]]. I should point out that the aforementioned incident drove this "version" of the Franchise/FantasticFour to disband ''immediately''.

** My incarnation in the 90s Fantastic Four cartoon subverts this as both season finales of the show end with a plot revolving around him stealing the powers of the SilverSurfer. Doom will forgive the show for [[RecycledScript using the same plot twice]] since they [[CreatorBacklash admitted their first attempt was a butchered]] [[AdaptionDecay adaption]] of a classic story where I stole the Surfer's power and brought the world to its knees. Doom forgives them as they wished to make amends.
* NinjaPirateRobotZombie: Doom is a dictator scientist that wears a suit of PowerArmor and dabbles into the supernatural and has an army of robots. A recent storyline involving TheMightyThor had me create zombie cyborg Asgardians, and created a suit of armor from Asgardian magic that I modeled after the Destroyer, though it sadly proved a poor imitation was destroyed by Thor. Doom thankfully [[DangerousGenreSavy had a teleportation device setup in case of that outcome.]]

Rumor even has it that the film-maker, GeorgeLucas, took inspiration from myself to create that cultural icon, [[StarWars Darth Vader]]. How fortunate for Mr. Lucas that Doom has better things to do than indulge in petty litigation or more direct means with him.
