# Trivia.SaikoRocksInkopolisTour: Chapter 6’s Turf War was originally going to take place at Walleye Warehouse, before the author settled on Starfish Mainstage.
# Trivia.SistersTangledAdventure: According to [=Angelxoxo8,=] Harmony's name was originally going to be "Luna" or "Aria". Varian was originally not going to accompany the gang on their journey to the Dark Kingdom, just like he was absent in the 2nd season in canon. Harmony was also initially going to be a resident of Old Corona like Varian. This meant that she would have not been related to Rapunzel.
# Creator.ColinFirth: He was originally cast as the voice of Paddington Bear for the Live-Action Adaptation. However, after recording his lines, both he and the producers came to the mutual conclusion that his voice wasn't the right fit for the character, and he ended up being replaced by Ben Whishaw instead. This was somewhat awkward as there had already been posters printed out and distributed with Colin's name on them. However, there were no trailers featuring Colin's voice.
# Trivia.ToAllTheBoysPSIStillLoveYou: Sean Kaufman, who portrays Steven Conklin in The Summer I Turned Pretty, auditioned for John Ambrose.
# ReferencedBy.TheElricSaga: Journey into Mystery (Gillen) [[WhatCouldHaveBeen was originally supposed to be inspired by the saga]], and while plans changed, one can still see some similarities especially in the final fate of main characters.
# Trivia.ThePictureOfDorianGray1945: Basil Rathbone badly wanted the role of Lord Henry. When he lost the role to George Sanders, Rathbone blamed it on his association with Sherlock Holmes and swore off the role.
# Trivia.StarWarsTheCloneWarsS5E20TheWrongJedi: Barriss was originally supposed to commit suicide using a bomb she'd hidden after giving her Motive Rant speech. Filoni decided against that, feeling there was more story to tell with her, though that still has yet to be revealed.
# Trivia.MarvelMysteryComics: The original Sub-Mariner story was intended to be a standalone story, released as part of an aborted comic series called Motion Picture Funnies Weekly, and was only 8 pages long. The comic never took off, so Bill Everett took the story to Timely and included it as part of the anthology, adding four more pages to the story. There was a brief point where Timely did consider changing their name to Marvel to coincide with this comic, but the change didn't stick—it would be a couple more decades before they really would change their name to Marvel Comics.
# CommonKnowledge.VideoGames: Harvest Moon 64 and Harvest Moon: Back to Nature are often mistaken for the same game but fans will make it clear that they're not. The latter was [[WhatCouldHaveBeen meant to]] be a port but the porters ended up changing so much they just completely retooled the game. The two games have the same cast and Super-Deformed artstyle but otherwise play like two completely separate installments. The characters personalities, relationships, and roles were changed quite a lot. The remake Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town makes the differences clearer by redesigning the characters to fit their Back to Nature characterizations more than their 64 ones.
# Trivia.SkinDeep: Dudley Moore was the original choice to play Zach; he'd was already a part of Edwards' Production Posse.
# Trivia.TheSimpsonsS4E22KrustyGetsKancelled: All the then-living ex-Presidents of the United States were offered roles in the episode. Only Ronald Reagan bothered to actually respond (he declined, obviously). The Rolling Stones and Wynonna Judd declined to appear in the episode.
# Trivia.{{Toki}}: The HD Remake had many ideas that were dropped at the [=endInitially,=] the HD remake was intended to be released for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Of course, thanks to the Development Hell mentioned above, those plans were moved for newer consoles. Two new monkey enemies, a thief monkey who stole coins and a monkey that released birds as projectiles were designed, but ultimately left unused. An easy mode where Toki could take 3 hits◊ instead of one was ultimately cut. In the first trailer, a timer indicating how much time a special item lasts was seen.
# Trivia.RaySeries: R-GEAR, a true sequel to [=RayForce=] was originally planned until the development of [=RayStorm=] took its place.
# Trivia.ZeraMythsAwaken: The game started out as a Spyro the Dragon Fan Game that was given a cease-and-desist. Zera was originally half-sugar glider, not half-bat.
# Trivia.LivingWithInsanity: Had the series continued past volume three, there were plans for a wedding and focus returning to David and Alice.
# Trivia.CanneryRow: The Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization were at one point planning a movie of Pipe Dream ... with The Muppets! Kermit the Frog as Mac, Miss Piggy as Fauna and Fozzie Bear as Hazel. Doc and Suzy as the human guest stars.
# Trivia.SupportYourLocalSheriff: Warren Oates was offered the role Jason [=McCullough,=] but turned it down to appear in The Wild Bunch.
# Trivia.ChouSeiKantaiSazerX: The character of Jackall wasn't planned at the start of the series and went through several changes in the development phase. Originally, he was planned to appear in Part 1 and be a character called "Hunter", then it was changed to a woman who was Commander Shark's former lover and who got left in the past while he was time-traveling. Ad was originally going to be a female warrior called "Aries". Thundera was at first planned to appear much earlier in a more prominent role and with a different, more tyrannical personality. The four Ryuuseishin mecha were also planned to combine into one at some point.
# Creator.Level5: Back in 2008 they announced a game for the PSP called Ushiro, it was going to be a Horror RPG of all things which had quite a creepy atmosphere and an interesting Premise (Trailer for it here). And it was, like Ni no Kuni, a collaboration with Studio Ghibli, a game very different than what either company has worked on. Sadly it was canceled though. Three Light Novels and a Manga for it has been released, and ten years later it was announced that it will be brought back for the Switch due to fan demand
# Trivia.PinkyAndTheBrain: Shares a page with its parent series.
# Trivia.TheKingsMan: Nicolas Cage, Brad Pitt and Rachel Weisz were considered for roles in the film.
# Trivia.GameTheoryLyricalNanoha: Game Theory was originally a Peggy Sue fic. (No guesses as to who would have gone back).
# Trivia.{{Scrooged}}: Sam Kinison was originally slated to play The Ghost of Christmas Past. The part eventually went to David Johansen due to his friendship with Bill Murray. Sydney Pollack was briefly attached to direct but left due to differences with the writers. Richard Donner originally wanted John Williams to score the film. Lee Majors' cameo was originally meant for Chuck Norris, whom Donner was a fan of, but he wasn't available.
# Trivia.AdventureTime: More Less - More - [=AlternativeCha…=] [=ContinuityNod=] [=DoesThisRemind…=] [=EnsembleDarkho…=] Foil [=GainaxEnding=] Haiku [=HarsherInHinds…=] [=HilariousInHin…=] [=ImageLinks=] It [=ItAnimazioneOc…=] Memes [=MoralEventHori…=] [=NauseaFuel=] [=ReferencedBy=] [=SequelEpisode=] [=ShipTease=] [=TheWoobie=] [=WhamEpisode=] [=WhatAnIdiot=] [=WhatCouldHaveB…=]
# Trivia.OnlyFoolsAndHorsesS4E08ToHullAndBack: The episode was shot with the expectation of having a Laugh Track dubbed onto it, as demonstrated by there being noticeable pauses after the major jokes, but for whatever reason, none has ever been included with any release of the episode.
# Trivia.DiamondsAreForever: Enough for its own page.
# Webcomic.DrawYourOwnStory: AbortedArc: The series is littered with these. Contributors sometimes became inactive and left their side-plot unresolved, or they'd forgotten about a side-plot or simply didn't want to continue it.In an example of [[WhatCouldHaveBeen WhatCouldHaveBeen]], [=DaemonDD's=] Lucifer arc in DYOS XI would have provided a whole new act that brought together many of the story's "secondary" protagonists in a battle to save the universe. Ennui from the prolonged Hacker plot led him to drop it, and he has stated that he has no plans to continue the arc in future threads. Similarly, Kan' Sharuminar and [=Captain2=] were working on a side story originally intended to carry over into DYOS 12; but with the former apparently quitting DYOS over Creator Backlash, this is unlikely to be resolved any time soon.
# Creator.DominicMonaghan: He auditioned for Frodo Baggins but ended up cast as Merry instead. He also auditioned for Sawyer on Lost before getting cast as Charlie.
# Creator.JeanPaulBelmondo: Belmondo was supposed to star in Barracuda, a film about a Hostage Situation in Chad. Creative differences and Belmondo's commitment to Le Professionnel killed the project, although Le Professionnel retained the françafrique thing (French meddling in post-colonial African politics). It was announced in 2018 that he would return in a sequel to 1988's Itinerary of a Spoiled Child. He passed away in 2021 without the project having had time to materialize.
# Creator.NcutiGatwa: He was the last person to audition for the role of the Fifteenth Doctor. Showrunner Russell T Davies has said that he had almost settled on another actor before Gatwa tried out for the part.
# Trivia.TheBeastArises: A Black Library editor stated that the original plan for the resolution of the War of the Beast involved the Imperium awakening the Men of Iron— the very same banned-by-the-God-Emperor Abominable Intelligences which ended the Dark Age of Technology and nearly wiped out humanity— to fight the Beast; the plan was scrapped due to the lack of forthcoming Iron Men miniatures.
# Trivia.MadagascarEscape2Africa: Alec Baldwin was initially cast to play a satirical version of himself, and the film's human subplot would have revolved around him tricking young actors into building a private resort for him in Africa, under the guise of running an actor's studio. This was ultimately dropped, though they wrote the character of Makunga (who's character design is directly based on Baldwin) so that he could still play a character in the movie.
# Series.BlakesSeven: CanonWelding: Canon Welding - Chris Boucher's spin-off works have suggested that the show takes place in the same time period and spatial area as his popular Doctor Who story "The Robots Of Death". It could have happened earlier and with a much higher profile, as Tom Baker and some of the actors from Blake's wanted to do a crossover story, and Terry Nation originally wanted the alien invasion at the end of S2 to be the Daleks from Doctor Who. [=invokedWhich=] would have been awesome.
# Trivia.LinusTechTips: Audiophile [=YouTuber,=] and member of The Headphone Show, DMS, used to be a writer for Linus Tech Tips.
# Trivia.SpongeBobSquarePantsS8E14TheWayOfTheSpongeBubbleTroubles: Fuzzy Acorns' belt color was originally gold, not black.
# Characters.MarvelComicsMystique: Originally Chris Claremont intended Nightcrawler's parents to be Mystique and Destiny, meaning that the former would technically be Nightcrawler's father. As this plot was conceived in the 80's it was aborted before it could even be fully introduced. In 2023's "X-Men Blue: Origins" #1, it would finally be confirmed.
# Trivia.NewYorkStories: Steven Spielberg was originally going to be the third director. He eventually dropped out and was replaced by Francis Ford Coppola. The part of the magician in "Oedipus Wrecks" was originally written for Wallace Shawn.
# Trivia.StarsReach: There were (briefly) plans for a live-action miniseries based off of the book. According to Word of God, it never got out of the planning stages due to a fundamental disagreement between him and the erstwhile creator.
# Trivia.{{Creepshow}}: The film began as a remake of the Amicus film "Tales From the Crypt", based off of the EC Comics line. In the end, it became somewhat of a tribute to the comics. According to [=IMDb,=] "Something to Tide You Over" originally had a different climax. In the initial draft, Vickers would be visited by undead Harry and Becky, who don't kill him. Vickers calls the police and reports the undead visitors to the disbelieving responding officers, who write him off as being drunk. Vickers attempts to play them a video recording that captured the pair of them, but it has been replaced by the video footage of Richard burying and taunting Harry. He's arrested immediately. There would then be a jump cut to Richard's trial, where he's convicted and sentenced to death, and a final jump cut to Richard being executed in the gas chamber. The last scene was to have been a hysterical Richard screaming he could "hold his breath for a long time" as the gas is killing him.
# Trivia.CodexAlera: The working title of Furies of Calderon was Shepherd Boy's Fury, but Jim Butcher's marketing people made him change it.
# Trivia.JumpinJackFlash: Burt Reynolds was the original choice for director but he had a falling out with producer Joel Silver and left the project.
# Trivia.TheMagdaleneSisters: Vanessa Redgrave was cast as Sister Bridget. She dropped out due to her mother's ill health, and was replaced with Geraldine [=McEwan. The=] scene with Una's father returning her to the laundry was originally much longer - and he had a longer speech. Director Peter Mullan felt that any actors they tested weren't getting it, so he decided to do it himself. Upon seeing the scene, he realised the speech didn't work, and cut it down.
# Trivia.ThePenumbraPodcast: Sophie and Kevin originally wanted the Penumbra to be a series of one-shot stories with a hard horror slant, like Shaken and Home. The Twilight Zone (1959) is a good comparison. But it most certainly didn't go that way.
# Trivia.{{Alias}}: Jenna Fischer auditioned to play Sydney. Roger Moore's role as Edward Poole was originally planned to be recurring, but Moore and the producers couldn't agree on his salary so the character was killed offscreen a couple episodes after his first appearance. Charlie was intended to be cheating on Francie with a man, but in those days when TV shows were leery of any kind of gay content, it became with a woman.
# Awesome.KimPossibleAxessHero: After Jim and Tim caused James to break his leg, Kim considers [[WhatCouldHaveBeen placing her brothers in Juvenile Prison]], but Miracle manages to persuade Kim to do something less rash. She takes away their [=PETs=] instead.
# Trivia.TheDevilsOwn: The original script for the film was much darker than the version used for the final film. Frankie slaughters all of the inhabitants inside a crackhouse and crooning Irish music at a local pub. O'Meara was described as being a "hair bag cop" who got that unflattering nickname because he's been a uniformed officer for so long. There was also an entire scene consisted of O'Meara and his partner throwing vile insults at each other. This draft was the one that Brad Pitt read before deciding to sign onto the project. Sean Connery and Gene Hackman were considered for Tom O'Meara. Bryan Singer was asked to direct.
# Trivia.MyDeepestDarkestSecret: One of the things in the notes of A Teeth-Clenched Alliance mentions that originally Solon's kidnappers were the Sunshine City werewolves. But since that story got too complicated and dark (plus the author didn't want Solon loving Enzy via Stockholm Syndrome), the werewolves became his friends instead and the Blood Moon hunters were created in their place.
# Trivia.TreasureHoard: Or not have been. The entire story grew from what was intended as nothing more than a writing exercise.
# Fanfic.DeathOfANation: DifferentWorldDifferentMovies: An in-universe newspaper article states that the ordeal of Jim would be made into a film called 28 Days Later. Naturally, this receives a huge amount of controversy among the displaced British people worldwide. One user mentioned the possibility of the Spider-Man Trilogy being more successful than our timeline due to superhero movies being seen as an optimistic take to the entertainment industry in times of catastrophe.note Only the first Spider-Man would have been finished by the time of the outbreak. Therefore, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, and [[WhatCouldHaveBeen other sequels]] would be unrecognizable with respect to our timeline. Another user also mentioned the possibility of the Marvel Cinematic Universe being produced earlier than the late 2000s.
# VideoGame.MedalOfHonor: TankGoodness: Any and all of the pre-2010 games has at least one tank for the Germans/Japanese. The first game had an unoccupied Tiger that [[WhatCouldHaveBeen was originally going to be fought]].
# Trivia.VictorVran: The initial concept was a Motorhead-themed game; it has been turned into the Motörhead Through The Ages expansion. About Motörhead Through The Ages itself, since it has been released more than one year after Lemmy Kilmister's death and Motörhead's disbanding but was officially announced as a DLC several month before the events, it's safe to assume parts of the plot and dialog were initially supposed to be different.note The released game has a silent cutscene of Lemmy giving his guitar to Victor, then leaving the Hub and never returning.
# Trivia.WarOfTheWorlds2005: Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise approached J. J. Abrams to write the script. He declined, as he was busy working on the pilot for Lost. In the final scene with the Tripods, the last Tripod shown on screen was supposed to collapse entirely on its own. The US military disliked that part of the script and wanted it rewritten to portray the nearby troops in a more heroic ideal light, which made it into the film. This change contrasted he film's overall ambiguity as to what the aliens are supposed to represent the terrorists, the American military, or both.
# Literature.TadaoNagahamaRobotRomanceAnimationChronicleInfobook:
# Trivia.ManOnALedge: Amy Adams was considered for the part of Lydia Mercer.
# Trivia.GordonLightfoot: "Sit Down, Young Stranger" and "Don Quixote" were originally written for the soundtrack of Hail, Hero!, a 1969 movie starring Michael Douglas. Both were rejected by the film's producers, although two other Lightfoot songs (a Title Theme Tune and an alternate version of "Wherefore and Why") were included.
# YMMV.LinkinPark: FandomRivalry: Many Deftones fans are resentful towards Linkin Park for allegedly copying the band's sound. Deftones are indeed a major influence on the band, although many Linkin Park fans enjoy Deftones, and the two bands have gone on tour together many times. Also, there's the fact that two members of Deftones contributed to Reanimation, with Stephen Carpenter playing guitar on "By_Myslf" and Chino Moreno's Team Sleep remixing "My December", [[WhatCouldHaveBeen which was deemed too dark for the album and has never been released]]. There's also the fact that Chino contributed to one of the songs on Mike's solo album Post Traumatic. There's also one between LP and Limp Bizkit fans, arguments over which band is better are common, though LP have admitted to being fans of LB.
# Trivia.Left4Dead: [=WhatCouldHaveB…=]
# Trivia.SpaceCamp: In the original script, a Russian Buran shuttle with Russian kids would have rescued the kids.
# Trivia.TheSimpsonsS6E23TheSpringfieldConnection: Marge was originally designed to retain her Beehive Hairdo while in her police uniform. It got changed into a ponytail when it caused staging problems in certain scenes. Besides, if they'd kept the design, David Mirkin (who was the show runner at the time) would have asked them to change it anyway since it would go against the intent to portray Marge as a serious cop.
# Creator.JeanMarais: One of the reasons the fourth Fantômas film never got made was Marais growing tired of the series and resenting the spotlight-stealing by Louis de Funès, who by then had a meteoric rise to superstardom.
# Trivia.FamilySwitch: The movie initially received a PG-13 rating before being edited for a PG instead. Given the things the movie already gets away with with the less strict rating of the two though, it definitely leads to speculation as to what exactly was cut in the first place.
# SubvertedKidsShow.WesternAnimation: The Powerpuff Girls: There's the episode "Neighbor Hood", about a children's TV show host who entreats his young viewers to send the show "happy paper" from their parents' wallets to keep the show's stars alive and happy (a nod to what Soupy Sales pulled in the early 60s on his kids' show). This season 5 episode was originally planned for the first season but the staff feared a lawsuit from Fred Rogers (Mister Rogers' Neighborhood) as it paralleled his show a bit too closely. It was given to DC Comics as issue #7, "Remote Controlled," and then refurbished as this episode. The original prototype short was this. "Whoopass Stew" was never meant to be a kids' show, yet is drawn in the same little girl show inspired style, with a kids show narrator, as the show proper. [[WhatCouldHaveBeen The show itself was going to be this]], but since there's no equivalent to [adult swim] at the time, it became a kids show. Ostensibly, what with the violence and all.
# Trivia.TekkamanBlade: Tekkaman Evil was considered for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom early on, but was dropped because the development team wanted to focus on heroic characters. What makes this notable is that he was to appear in the Cross Generation version of the game, well before the Updated Re-release that eventually included Blade.
# Trivia.StarTrekS1E18Arena: In the original script, Kirk and the alien captain's battleground had translucent walls, making it seem as though they were in a giant terrarium.
# VideoGame.UndertaleBitsAndPieces: FanRemake: While Bits and Pieces is actually a mod of the original Undertale, it's essentially, for all intents and purposes, a ground-up reimagining of the game — keeping the same story and gameplay of the original, while also updating the graphics and (optionally) music, expanding upon the story with new areas and dialogue, restoring [[WhatCouldHaveBeen unused]] and console-exclusive content, and making various general quality-of-life improvements.
# Trivia.StarTrekVoyagerS6E7DragonsTeeth: This episode was originally envisioned as a Two-Part Episode, but it was pared down to a single episode. (No wonder we never see the Vaadwaur children!) The writers then changed their minds again, but by then they didn't have time to make a new script, so they threw in a Sequel Hook at the end... which was never followed up on (at least, not in the series itself; they would eventually show up again in Star Trek Online).
# Trivia.Mask1985: Rob Lowe was nearly cast as Rocky Dennis. He declined due to scheduling conflicts with an unannounced movie that was eventually cancelled. Kevin Costner was also considered. Cher wanted her then-boyfriend Val Kilmer to play Gar, but he was rejected for being too young for the part. Producer Martin Starger wanted Jane Fonda to play Rusty Dennis. He and Peter Bogdanovich both agreed that they couldn't see her as a biker.
# Trivia.EmpireRecords: The original timespan was filmed to take place over two days, but edited into one. Warren was supposed to have a sister, but she was deleted from the final script.
# Trivia.CellSpex: Celly originally planned to make a prediction video for Despicable Me 3, but ended up never making it due to being involved in a car accident at the time.
# Trivia.{{Jumper}}: Tom Sturridge and Teresa Palmer were considered for the roles of David and Millie respectively.
# VisualNovel.EndlessSummer: Book 3 introduces the Embers of Hope, through which each of the Catalysts (except Taylor) is shown a possible future that could come to pass if the destruction of the world can be reversed. The Embers are objects that are significant to the individual, and unlike the Idol futures, the Ember visions show positive outcomes (see [[WhatCouldHaveBeen WhatCouldHaveBeen]]).
# YMMV.LaffALympics: CommonKnowledge: One element from the [[WhatCouldHaveBeen WhatCouldHaveBeen]] side that is often said but not true is that Hong Kong Phooey replaced Jeannie on this show. Phooey was added before Jeannie's removal provable by the fact both of them are in the model sheets and in a Freeze-Frame Bonus|es, Jeannie is standing right next to Phooey.
# Trivia.{{Twister}}: Tom Hanks was the original choice for Bill Harding. Hanks even briefly accepted the role and read lines with the cast before dropping out. Kevin Costner, Richard Gere, Mel Gibson, Michael Keaton, Dennis Quaid, Kurt Russell and John Travolta were also considered. Laura Dern was considered for Dr. Jo Harding. Incidentally, years earlier Hunt had tested for the part of Dr. Ellie Sattler in Jurassic Park and lost the role to Dern. Christopher [=McDonald=] was considered for the role of Dr. Jonas Miller, but was already committed to Happy Gilmore where he ironically plays a similar arrogant, smug villain. Garth Brooks turned down the role of Dustin Davis.
# Trivia.FamilyGuyS4E20PatriotGames: All the references to the New England Patriots, plus all the celebrity appearances, and the big musical number indicate this was meant to be the post-Super Bowl episode. However, the Super Bowl didn't even air on FOX that year.
# Trivia.YoshiTatsu: A persistent rumor (possibly apocryphal, though similar things have happened in pro wrestling before) claims WWE hired Tatsu by error because Johnny Ace, the executive that welcomed him to FCW by Tiger Hattori's mediation, was under the belief Tatsu was a completely different NJPW wrestler.
# Trivia.TheIdiot: In Dostoevsky's original notes, Prince Myshkin wasn't a figure of Incorruptible Pure Pureness, but a proud and passionate villain who would have undergone a complete regeneration by the novel's end. At the time Dostoevsky finished Part One, he was still planning on a very different ending in which Myshkin would redeem both Nastasya and Rogozhin.
# Recap.GleeS4E20LightsOut: Before going into rehab, Cory Monteith recorded some parts of this episode and the music for it (including a solo in WWRY). However, due to the aforementioned rehab, his parts were cut because his US work permit was revoked and they couldn't even broadcast what they already had filmed. Finn was completely edited out.
# DrivenToSuicide.VisualNovels: Something that's kinda overlooked by fans during early playthroughs is that Shiina Mikado aka Misha also has suicidal tendencies. In Shizune's route, during a talk with Hisao, she tells him "Wouldn't it be better if I disappeared...?" In [[WhatCouldHaveBeen the beta to the game]], Misha would have committed suicide in Shizune's arc. Act 3 is full of her acting increasingly depressed and reveals her self-loathing, only to end with her getting hit by a car and dying soon afterwards. Act 4 is all about her best friend Shizune shutting down in grief. The Bad End actually has her essentially kill herself. Shizune dies of dehydration after being hospitalized if you don't stay in the hospital. She removed her IV.
# Trivia.{{Apocalypse}}: The game was originally meant for two players, with Bruce Willis' Trey Kincaid as a supporter, but halfway through it was repurposed as a single-player game. Kincaid's dialogue are remnants of when he was supposed to be a secondary character.
# Trivia.SuperRobotWarsJudgment: Bottom-right line art◊ in Judgment for the Granteed indicates it had an attack called the "Orgonite Buster"; as it doesn't appear for the machine's attack list, it's implied it was cut from the game. The attack makes its appearance in The Moon Dwellers.
# Trivia.UltramanTheUltimateHero: Magular was supposed to appear in episode 3 alongside Red King, Pigmon, and Chandler to complete the cast of creatures that appeared in episode 8 of Ultraman, but was replaced with a second Red King in the end."Powered" figures of several monsters that appeared in Ultraman, but not in this series, were released, suggesting the intention to adapt more of the original Ultraman's foes. Here's one for Gavadon's two forms◊.
# Trivia.SplinterCellPandoraTomorrow: Beta gameplay footage shows that originally Lambert and Grim were intended to be voiced by their original voice actors noted above, as well as having other characters and enemies voiced with native accents instead of American accents. For whatever reason, all of it ended up being re-recorded with new voice actors, with no explanation ever being given for the change.
# Trivia.ThatTouchOfMink: Rock Hudson had expected to be cast as Philip, but director Delbert Mann wanted Cary Grant.
# Trivia.PhineasAndFerbTipOfTheDay: Originally, the plot was about a conspiracy to make sure no one ever knows what the tip of a shoelace is called. But it was decided to have Phineas and Ferb raise awareness of the word because, as Candace keeps pointing out, it doesn't really matter what they're called.
# Trivia.{{Prometheus}}: See the franchise's page.
# Trivia.KirbyTiltNTumble: According to this article, the game was going to be rebranded as a Pokémon game outside Japan due to Pokémon 's major popularity at the time.
# Trivia.ATrollInCentralPark: Bluth has said that, had they not rushed their production, he would have wanted Stanley to be a much darker character with more abundant flaws. Buddy Hackett was initially the voice for Stanley, but Bluth ended up replacing him with [=DeLuise=] because he was easier to work with (for example, Buddy's contracts demanded a limited number of takes per line, while Dom was more than willing to do multiple takes).
# VideoGame.TheLegendOfZeldaTearsOfTheKingdom: Princess Zelda is descended from the married Sages of Time and Light, which led to them having a remarked-upon dual set of powers despite officially inheriting only the Time sagehood. This seems to reference how the two elements have long been indecisively linked together in the games. The Ocarina of Time Sage of Light (also named Rauru) was headquartered in the Temple of Time since [[WhatCouldHaveBeen a Light Temple was cut from the game]], while the Temple of Time from Twilight Princess referenced this further by featuring imagery of the Light Medallion, indicating it was the Temple of Light in its original purpose, or served both purposes at the same time.
# Trivia.FlushedAway: As noted above, this was originally intended as a pirate movie, which [=DreamWorks=] dubbed "unmarketable" at the time, plus the technology was not yet up to speed to combine that much water with claymation. Unlike most cases, however, it has since been. Sid was originally going to be voiced by Ricky Gervais but he left at some point during pre-production, giving the role to Shane Richie. As mentioned above, Roddy also was supposed to have hamster butlers by the names of Gilbert and Sullivan, if what was expected in the trailer to be true. They're only in the video game. They were removed because it wouldn't make sense for them to be in the plot of Roddy being a loner.
# LetsPlay.SorcerorNobody: ShoutOut: A pirate uttering "He he he" in episode 9 results in a brief watermark of Hella Jeff. Episode 11 [[WhatCouldHaveBeen was actually meant to]] Call-Back to this, as Sorc put faint text saying [="SBaHJ.jpg=] wayermark" on another "He he he he" instance. Unfortunately, it turns out he made it too faint, meaning that compression during rendering caused it to become pretty much completely indiscernible in the final video.note It is still there, as you can see it by maxing the brightness and contrast of a screencap. It just might as well not be. The term "gold badger", also in episode 9, naturally prompts mention of Hufflepuff. Although Sorc then points out that he himself is actually a Ravenclaw. "Why do I always get the icky jobs?" in episode 22.
# Trivia.TwentyFour: More Less - More - [=FamousLastWord…=] Haiku [=JackBauerInter…=] [=MagnificentBas…=] Monster [=ReferencedBy=] [=WhamEpisode=] [=WhatCouldHaveB…=]
# Trivia.StateOfTheMeta: Yung Warrior went back and forth a lot in regards to Jamie's Spirit Partner. He considered ideas such as having Marshmallon be Jamie's companion, or having Jinzo become Jamie's partner after losing to Jamie. He briefly decided for Jamie to not have any Spirit Partner to avoid having him come off as too overpowered. In the end however, Jamie gained Sonata the Melodious Diva as a Spirit Partner after using his Melodious deck against Camula.
# Trivia.TronMazeATron: Mattel was developing a version of this game for the Atari 2600, but it ended up becoming an entirely different game in the process, a Platform Game called Adventures of TRON.
# Trivia.SplitSecond2010: The ending to Season Mode is unquestionably a Sequel Hook. However, it's merely a pipe dream at this point since Disney force-closed Black Rock Studios. In early gameplay videos, one of the Route Changers in the Airport Terminal would've allowed the player to drive through the terminal itself. In the game, this is replaced with them driving through an underground parking garage.Subverted in the PSP version where the beta track is now playable there, at obviously low-res.
# Trivia.CloakAndDaggerMarvelComics: It was announced Cloak and Dagger were going to have a five part mini-series written by Valerie D'Orazio. It never materialized and instead they joined the Dark X-Men. Cloak and Dagger were considered for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but were passed over because their gameplay dynamic (they would've played similarly to the Puppet Fighter characters from [=JoJo's=] Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future) would've made Mirror Match fights confusing.
# Trivia.SuperRobotWarsNEO: According to Terada during an Umasugi Wave SRW Memories Radio episiode on SRW NEO, Mashin Hero Wataru Series and Kyattou Ninden Teyandee (a.k.a.
Samurai Pizza Cats) were considered to be part of the debuting entries in this game, but they were ultimately cut out when difficulty arose in securing the series licenses. Wataru eventually made its Super Robot Wars debut in Super Robot Wars X. During a 2019 interview, series producer Takanobu Terada expressed a possibility of creating "another world"/"magical" Super Robot Wars installment that may feature Wataru, Magic Knight Rayearth, and Madou King Granzort (including The Vision of Escaflowne due to the Thematic Series elements between it, Wataru, Rayearth, and Granzort).
# Creator.CharismaCarpenter: invoked She was apparently offered the role of Delilah in The Faculty. As the character was an Alpha Bitch (though her Hidden Depths are revealed), she turned it down for being too similar to Cordelia Chase.
# Trivia.LeisureSuitLarry6ShapeUpOrSlipOut: The Larry 6 design document officially shared by Al Lowe reveals there was a tenth woman in development named Frau Michlieb, who would have been an "excessively rich, over-weight, over-sexed, middle-aged, married, Germanic tourist covered with way too much gold and diamonds" and in order to get her item (a toe ring), Larry would have to push a dessert cart into her room. The final game contains nine women, as she was removed at some point. There are also mentions of a 3DO version which was never released.
# Trivia.{{Everhood}}: The original vertical slice demo for Everhood had an extremely different post-incinerator fight that was set to the song Shponglese Spoken Here by psychedelic trance music project Schpongle. The Foreign Gnomes developers were unsuccessful in obtaining the rights to use the song in the final game and instead retooled the sequence into the Post-Mortem fight and the Gnomes fight.
# Trivia.BradHasAPain: In the final game, Buzzo's only appearance is as a child in a flashback, having died during his training, his corpse somehow remaining completely upright when Brad sees it. According to the devs, a concept they had for Buzzo involved him adding arms to Brad before it was scrapped for Buzzo being hard to turn into a joke.It was also planned that if Jack turned Brad invisible and it wasn’t reversed, Brad wouldn’t be visible in the ending slides.
# Trivia.WagonTrain: Ah Chong in "The Ah Chong Story" was originally going to be played by Bachelor Father's Sammee Tong, but NBC disliked cast members of its shows appearing on competing networks. So the role went to the decidedly Caucasian Arnold Stang. Oh, dear. Especially since Yellowface had been averted for the earlier episode "The Sakae Ito Story", with Sakae Ito played by Sessue Hayakawa.
# Trivia.ItComesAtNight: Shults originally planned to end the film with a nightmare with the family's house burning down, which Joel Edgerton claims included one of his all-time best performances, but ultimately decided that with the film's jumping back and forth between dream and reality, it might be too confusing for audiences. The sequence was shot, however, and a split second of it appears in the trailer.

# Trivia.PerryMason: CastTheRunnerUp: After Raymond Burr's death, it was revealed that Perry Mason author Erle Stanley Gardner himself had advocated Burr's hiring; neither he nor the producers were happy with the actors who had auditioned for the titular role (but were [[WhatCouldHaveBeen leaning towards]] Fred [=MacMurray).=] Burr, who had primarily acted in a series of low budget films, was invited to shoot a screen test for the role of Hamilton Burger. Midway through the playback of Burr's test days later, Gardner (who had never heard of Burr) stood up, pointed at the screen and said "That's him! That's Perry Mason!" The rest is history.
# Trivia.TransformersGenerationOne: The Megatron: Origins miniseries from IDW was originally conceived as a prequel set in Dreamwave's continuity but the company's bankruptcy meant it would get later fitted into IDW's continuity.
# Trivia.DragonAgeInquisition: CreatorsFavorite: The developers have been pretty vocal that The Iron Bull was one of their favorite companions (along with Varric and Sera). Bull's romance was going to be tamer, but the wives of his head writer and animator found him so sexy that they encouraged Weekes to write more steamy content. Bull was [[WhatCouldHaveBeen also going to be]] a restricted romance due to animation issues, but Mike Laidlaw and Bull's animatiors animators loved him so much that they spent hours of unpaid overtime every night for several weeks to resolve the issue in time for launch.
# Trivia.BigCityGreensS3E2: "Papaganda" was to play first before "Boss Life", but in the final aired episode, the order of the segments was reversed. Makes sense as the credits use the song Tilly performed in the latter aforementioned episode in place of the usual Ending Theme.
# Trivia.DragonValor: The unlockable image gallery shows various unused character designs, including a female dragon halfling with retractable wrist blades.
# Trivia.TheWestWingS02E01InTheShadowOfTwoGunmenPartOne: Originally, there was supposed to be more footage of Josh being treated at the scene by paramedics. This was all incorporated into the Christmas episode "Noel".
# Trivia.TheCookTheThiefHisWifeAndHerLover: Vanessa Redgrave was conisdered for Georgina.
# Trivia.HangEmHigh: Sergio Leone was originally going to direct, but he turned it down in favour of Once Upon a Time in the West. United Artists executives suggested experienced action film directors like John Sturges and Robert Aldrich.
# Trivia.TheElectricTaleOfPikachu: EarlyDraftTieIn: At least some of the differences between the manga and the anime it was based on were a result of the writer getting scripts for episodes that hadn't aired yet, only for the final versions of those episodes to be changed after the fact. As a result, at least some of the stories here represent [[WhatCouldHaveBeen WhatCouldHaveBeen]] for the anime.
# Trivia.LordElMelloiIICaseFiles: A blonde-haired design was considered for Faker, which would make her resemblance to the historical Alexander the Great even closer.
# NightmareFuel.SpiderMan1: A [[WhatCouldHaveBeen WhatCouldHaveBeen]] example is the original design of the Green Goblin, combining make-up and animatronics to look closer to the comic. It's also unnerving enough that reportedly Avi Arad nixed it because "We're trying to sell toys here, not scare children", and replaced it with the helmet seen in the movie.
# Trivia.DJJazzyJeffAndTheFreshPrince: Will and Jeff were the first choices for the lead roles of House Party. Kid 'N Play were cast instead when they turned it down. Interestingly enough, Will's sitcom deal that lead to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was originally for Kid 'N Play — who rejected it after NBC cancelled their Saturday morning cartoon. Will and Jeff were tapped by Questlove to reunite for the 50th anniversary hip-hop showcase at the 2023 Grammys. Unfortunately, Will was forced to bail at the last minute due to scheduling conflicts with Bad Boys 4, but Jeff still participated in the celebration.
# WMG.MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicRoyalty: [[WhatCouldHaveBeen If only. If only...]]
# Trivia.ArchieBunkersPlace: According to a 2001 E! True Hollywood Story special, if the show had continued for a fifth season, Mike would have returned for a cameo, and the show likely would have had (according to Carroll O'Connor) a proper series finale.

Given Bill Burr was confirmed to be signed up for an appearance this season before having to drop out due to a personal matter, fans have assumed that this was originally supposed to be Kuby's debut.
# Trivia.VivaPinata: The game was originally planned for the Pocket PC but it never happened. Rare figured out how to connect Trouble in Paradise with Pocket Paradise despite them being on consoles made by different companies, but they had to scrap it because it was too late in their development cycles. Many animals were planned but scrapped, including kangaroos, rattlesnakes, the afforementioned goldfish, giraffes, cane toads, and hamsters for the original game, and a platypus and shark for Trouble in Paradise. Similarly to Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, the babies were originally planned to look different than the adults before the budgeting kicked in. The Parmadillo in Trouble in Paradise has a scrapped appear cutscene, implying that it was originally meant to be a visiting species rather than an evolution.
# Trivia.ComeAndSee: The film was very nearly called Kill Hitler, a rather goofily blunt title that is only relevant to the very final scene and lacks the apocalyptic undertones of Come and See.
# Trivia.JanisJoplin: If only Jim Morrison was sober that night...
# Trivia.QueenForSevenDays: Lee Jin-wook was offered the role of Lee Yeok, but he declined.
# Trivia.TheSarahJaneAdventuresS5E5E6TheManWhoNeverWas: The original climax would have seen the Light Sculptors create a hologram of the character who became John Harrison, who would confess to thousands of health and safety violations to the police, leading to the arrest of the real Harrison. The dying billionaire would then realise that he was just a construct before deactivating. Early drafts included a security guard at Serf Systems named Byers, who was revealed to be in cahoots with Harrison. The E-Panel was originally named Z-65 and then the Serf Board. The Skullions were originally named Light Sculptors, with their leader originally named Skrull and then Plark.

Mauro Sánchez Navarro auditioned for both Gerry and Bruno. He got the latter part. Lidia San José was initially offered the role of Nora, Sofía's mother. However, she turned it down, because she thought she wouldn't be a fitting choice to play a mother, and was instead given the part of Gabriela, the school's biology teacher as well as Alex's secret girlfriend. The former part was passed on to Rocío Verdejo. Ariana Saavedra was originally hired to appear in 12 scenes. The producers were impressed by her skills in front of the camera and discipline that they decided to increase her relevance and screentime on the series.

# Trivia.TheBeatles: When Lorne Michaels on Saturday Night Live offered the Beatles $3000 to appear on the show in April 1976, both John and Paul were in New York City watching the show. They were intrigued with the idea of going over right then and perform on SNL, but were both too tired that night. This was such a big [[WhatCouldHaveBeen WhatCouldHaveBeen]] moment that a movie was made about it (directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, who also directed Let It Be).
# Creator.JoeManganiello: He was originally cast to play Wes on Scream Queens, but pulled out before production began, eventually replaced by Oliver Hudson. He was set to appear as Deathstroke in more DC Extended Universe films than Justice League such as a Batman film and even a film centered around his character, but the constant changes in the plans of DC Films made them fall into Development Hell.
# Trivia.{{Erra}}: Might have been slated to play the inaugural Swanfest, but didn’t get on the bill. Which is weird, as the bands they were on tour with at the time (We Came As Romans and Crown the Empire) DID play the show.
# Trivia.{{Carmageddon}}: The first game was originally intended to be a Licensed Game of Mad Max. The first game was also ported to the Gizmondo, featuring some improvements over the PC release (such as making The Plow not wheelie when it was equipped with better engine upgrades). However, due to Tiger Telematics' bankruptcy, this version was not released until Carmageddon was ported to mobile devices. # Trivia.BlackNarcissus: The film was supposed to end with a scene between Sister Clodagh and the Reverend Mother, where Clodagh apologises and expects a reprimand, but Reverend Mother comforts her. It was filmed but not used, as Michael Powell loved the shot of the rainstorm as Clodagh leaves the village - which was only going to be the penultimate scene. Greta Garbo at one point was considered for the part of Sister Clodagh. Deborah Kerr in fact almost wasn't cast because Michael Powell felt she was too young - but Emeric Pressburger lobbied for her.
# Funny.GrimFandango: Meta Example: in the [[WhatCouldHaveBeen original script]] for Grim Fandango, Tim Schafer mentions the Unresolved Sexual Tension between Manny and Carla in Year 2. This is followed by a bolded disclaimer: "A Note on Skeleton Sex: The official Grim Fandango policy is "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Lucien ended up getting cast twice. Dean Dodrill had another 'mascot' character, Bonnie, who was originally one of the major characters in Elysian Tail until Dust was envisioned.
# Trivia.TheGentlemanPirate: The song which plays over Stede Bonnet’s Training Montage, simply titled “The Captain Montage”, originally had vocals and was substantially longer. Benjamin Symons, producer of many songs featured in The Gentleman Pirate, originally did a demo. Then he had Ordinary Things sing his version, and then Internet Historian, then eventually winding back to Symons doing the vocals, and finally it was scrapped. The only vocal version which is out has Benjamin Symons singing, leaving the Ordinary Things and Internet Historian versions unpublished. The reasoning, Symons described, was that it was “probably embarrassing for them.”In a reply to a comment on this video, Symons describes the Ordinary Things version as “auto tuned so much it sounds insane!”
# Trivia.Persona4Arena: Ryotaro Dojima was considered as a playable character (instead of a Persona, he'd summon Nanako, giving the impression he would have been a Joke Character), but Atlus bluntly shot the idea down. Akihiko's initial design for the game was, in the words of Zen United, similar to Jason Statham in The Transporter, implying Soejima may have planned to give him a design similar to his Trinity Soul appearance. However, the director felt a 'wild man' was needed, and influenced Akihiko's drastic change in appearance. Aigis was intended to have a braided ponytail in her new design. That went to Fuuka in the end. Going through the sound test in Gallery mode shows some unused lines for each of the characters, including the Investigation Team calling out their Ultimate Personas, and the Shadow Operatives calling out their own initial Personas. Obviously, the unused Personas were considered for the game at some time, but ultimately failed to make it into the final product.
# Trivia.{{Mobsters}}: Johnny Depp turned down the role of Charlie "Lucky" Luciano.
# Trivia.MasterOfNone: Harris Wittels' presence as one of the central members of the show's writing staff was cut short when he tragically died in February of 2015. Denise's character was initially conceived as a working woman who would've had a Will They or Won't They? dynamic with Dev. When Lena Waithe got recommended for the part, they decided to rewrite the character to be a better reflection of her.
# Trivia.TheAmazingSpiderMan: See here
# Trivia.TrickOrTrap: The cover was originally much different, and more accurate to the plot.
# Trivia.SecondhandLions: The original plan was to reteam Paul Newman and Robert Redford as the uncles. However, Redford's agent told the producers he "does not play old."
# Trivia.{{Pleaserock}}: The first three tracks on The Long-Playing EP were originally intended for another full Y-O-U album featuring a horn section and a new R&B influence. (A live version of "Honest Man" with the horns and extra backup singers is kicking around the web someplace.) When it came time to record the tracks, though, the band could only afford to do a core rock version, with just a few hints of the previous arrangement.
# Fanfic.AkkoKagariUniverse: The second cour of the anime focuses on the attempt to unlock the Grand Triskellion and restore magic all over the world. Here, the Grand Triskellion has already been unlocked before Akko was even born, and aside from a few mentions of how Chariot did it upon defeating Aradia, is mostly treated as an afterthought. Though the fact that Believing Heart, the planned adaptation of Deathly Hallows, is [[WhatCouldHaveBeen originally]] called Akko Kagari and the Grand Triskellion indicates that it will become relevant again in the future.
