[[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/ Reporterz]], A Comic Strip by Mastercougar (formerly called "Reporterz Da Comic") was a SpriteComic initially created under the [[https://www.serebii.net/ Serebii]] forums, before being moved to Website/ComicGenesis. Starring Gabby and Ty, the interviewers you could encounter in ''VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire'', their job soon forays into interdimensional exploration thanks to their Dimensi-portals. A run-in with [[WebAnimation/HomestarRunner Trogdor the Burninator]] has them eventually encounter [[AuthorGuestSpot the author]], who has them go on quests to find the [[CosmicKeystone cores]] of different universes. On the way they find new friends, and cross to both other franchises and original creations.

* AmbiguousSituation: It's not made clear whether Zard is a black Charizard because he's a shiny or because of some sort of mutation or other event in his past considering his comrade is a Machamp/Houndoom fusion and his world of origin is unknown.

* BerserkButton: Ty is a man of science who prefers the consistency of the laws of physics. As such, Illie flagrantly violating those laws with InsaneTrollLogic makes him almost silent with rage.

* FusionDance: In order to stop Sauron, Eliza and Sila end up fusing into a more powerful form. The result is a massive black Yellow Devil with four arms and red and green spines.
* GodOfChaos: Illogic, or Illie as he prefers to be known as, is the antithesis of all things logical and a sort of multiversal embodiment of chaos. Because of this it's in his nature to act inherently illogical, causing inevitable chaos due to his weaponized use of InsaneTrollLogic. The more of a presence he has in the universe the more chaotic it is and the looser its laws of physics is.
* GodOfOrder: Logic acts as a sort of multiversal embodiment of logic, who exists to enforce order and structure. The Logic encountered in the webcomic is [[PiecesOfGod a fragment]] that separated himself from the hive mind to avoid suffering a LogicBomb. The more presence Logic has in a universe, the stricter its laws of physics are.

* GreatGazoo: Illie is the embodiment of the lack of logic [[GodOfChaos and chaos]]. He's potentially one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse but his inherently chaotic nature causes him to be an overly quirky {{Cloudcuckoolander}} who often goes off on nonsensical non-sequiturs and [[RealityWarper alters reality]] with InsaneTrollLogic.

* ItRunsOnNonesensium: Illie/Illogic is the AnthropomorphicPersonification of the lack of logic in contrast to Logic, which basically makes him the embodiment of InsaneTrollLogic. This lets him [[RealityWarper bend reality to his will]] by using absurd reasoning; for example he creates an escape by cutting a table in half, as two halves make a (w)hole. As a man of science, Ty finds this aggravating.

* AdaptationalHeroism: In so much as it applies to an object. Unlike in canon where the One Ring was exclusively created for evil purposes, here it was originally the core of the universe and thus naturally neutral-aligned. Sauron corrupted rather than truly made it.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Unlike in canon where [[TheSociopath he truly has no care for anyone]], here Sauron actually has the capacity for love and reciprocates Sila's affection (not that it stops him from turning on her when she won't let him kill her sister). ** Storyline 1,2 and 6: Trogdor. [[BigBadDuumvirate He shares this role with Logic in Storyline 4]].
** Storyline 3: [[AuthorGuestSpot Mastercougar]].
** Storyline 3.5: [[SiblingYinYang Sila]], though she's not really a villain as much as she is [[SiblingRivalry a rival to her half-sister]] in wanting her blaster.
** Storyline 4: Logic, who doesn't take kindly to the protagonist's association with his former nemesis Wisest Pikachu. [[BigBadDuumvirate He shares this role with Trogdor]].
** Storyline 5: [[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings Sauron]], with Sila, Trogdor and friends ''initially'' working with him.

* BigBadDuumvirate: Again, Trogdor and Logic in Storyline 4. [[RedOniBlueOni Logic plays the straight man role with Trogdor]].
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Due to ''Webcomic/BobAndGeorge'' being an inspiration the fourth wall is not only broken, but becomes semi-plot relevant.

* CerebusSyndrome: Storyline 5 is more serious than the more comedic-themed previous storylines, and [[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings the main villain]] [[KnightOfCerebus manages to be serious and threatening]]. Storyline 6 looked to be almost as serious due to MC's world being threatened by Trogdor and the Core he was going after being far more dangerous, though it was cancelled before the storyline finished.

* DemotedToDragon: Being far more competent than him Sauron does this to Trogdor. He tries to pull TheStarscream but Sauron overhears this and imprisons him.

* DumbMuscle: Madoom is so stupid he can't properly talk, but he's also a Machamp/Houndoom hybrid so his strength is

to:

* DumbMuscle: Madoom is so stupid he can't properly talk, but he's also a Machamp/Houndoom hybrid so his strength is nothing to sneeze at.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Ultimately subverted with Sauron; while the One Ring's dip into [[GoodHurtsEvil Yellow Dimensi-Space]] has rendered him capable of love/compassion again, and he does genuinely enjoy his time with Sila, he disregards her when she steps in to protect Eliza. Played straight with Sila, of course.

Added DiffLines:

* FusionDance: Sila and Eliza do this in order to stop Sauron.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: Red text is used for villains, and the more villainous Sila is red compared to the green Eliza.

Added DiffLines:

* InterspeciesRomance: [[HalfHumanHybrid Eliza]] and [[MoeAnthropomorphism Kyo]], later on [[OurAngelsAreDifferent Sauron]] and [[SlimeGirl Eliza]]
* KnightOfCerebus:
** While LighterAndSofter to his canon self and not immune to [[TheComicallySerious jokes]], Sauron is still incredibly dangerous and straight-faced. By the end he's only narrowly defeated by a FusionDance of Sila and Eliza.
** Though limited to Eliza's backstory, Daraku is definitely this. [[HeroKiller He wiped out practically every hero]], [[TheBadGuyWins managed to take over the world where Dr Wily failed]], and has ruled a dystopia for about 30 years. [[YouKilledMyFather He even killed Eliza and Sila's parents]]. And unlike Sauron ''nothing'' is comedic about him.

Added DiffLines:

* VillainProtagonist: Trogdor is the star of Storyline 1.5, as he tried to break into being a big villain.
* VillainousFriendship: Trogdor and Logic end up rather chummy, [[VitriolicBestBuds even if they bicker]]. He and his minions seem to like each other too.

''[[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/ Reporterz]]'', A Comic Strip by Mastercougar (formerly called "Reporterz Da Comic") was a SpriteComic initially created under the [[https://www.serebii.net/ Serebii]] forums, before being moved to Website/ComicGenesis.

The comic was eventually discontinued in its sixth storyline, due to losing interest in spriting compared to writing. In addition to the main comic, [[reporterz.comicgenesis.com/extras.html there are a couple of extra stories]] which explain the backstory of Eliza and Sila, two of the main protagonists/antagonists.

----
!!Includes examples of:

* [[AloofBigBrother Aloof Big Half-Sister]]: Sila. Sometimes antagonistic and definitely aloof, but clearly cares for her little half-sister.
* ArcVillain:
** Storyline
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Logic and Illie/Illogic are personifications of logic and [[InsaneTrollLogic non-logic]]. Well Logic ''was'', but he split off from the HiveMind when Wisest Pikachu used a LogicBomb.
* {{Archenemy}}: Trogdor is this to Gabby, Ty and their friends. While they encounter different foes, he is always their chief enemy.
* AuthorAvatar: Mastercougar or MC take either a human-looking sprite, or a winged [[VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver Entei]].
* BadFuture: Eliza and Sila's universe is an AlternateTimeline of this for ''Webcomic/BobAndGeorge''; Dr Wily's death caused an old friend of his to go nuts, rename himself Daraku, use updated robots and a modified Bass to slaughter practically the entire case case Dr Light and Cossack, and install himself as the planet's dictator for about 30 years.
* BigBad: Trogdor is usually this when he shows up. He becomes a BigBadDuumvirate with Logic in the Gebra storyline, and gets DemotedToDragon to Sauron in the LOTR storyline.
* BrickJoke: [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/d/20041218.html Trogdor refuses to have his]] SupervillainLair be a giant muffin, even if the exterior is cool. [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/d/20060108.html This bites him in the ass later on]].
* CoDragons: Zard and Madoom serve as this to Trogdor.
* CompositeCharacter: [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Link and Zelda]] seem to be a general amalgamation of the different incarnations of the characters. Might count for PragmaticAdaptation.
* ContemplateOurNavels: [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/d/20060101.html Happens once in a while.]]
* {{Crossover}}: Storyline 2 has Gabby and Ty cross over with [[https://forums.serebii.net/threads/hanging-with-wisest-pikachu-the-comic-version-4-0.157977/ Wisest Pikachu's work]].
* DamnItFeelsGoodToBeAGangster: Leo the Magneton certainly acts as such, at least.
* DarkerAndEdgier: [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/oota.html Eliza's backstory]] is far more serious than the main comic, with jokes few and far between.
* DiscoDan: Johnny the Loudred, complete with Elvis cosplay.
* DumbMuscle: Madoom is so stupid he can't properly talk, but he's also a Machamp/Houndoom hybrid so his strength is
* EvilGenius: Zard, who's probably the smartest character on the villain's side.
* ExactWords: Trogdor is introduced when Ty sets the portal on a dimension known for its humor. [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/d/20041013.html Gabby points this out, and Ty does point out the beefy arm is funny]]. Plus it ''is'' the WebAnimation/HomestarRunner universe.
* GoodHurtsEvil: Yellow Dimensi-Space was designed by Creator/JRRTolkien to have a negative effect on evil beings. For Trogdor and his minions [[VomitDiscretionShot they lose their lunch]], and for Sauron he suffers great pain when the One Ring falls into it. Though he does start to [[TookALevelInKindness regain a smidgeon of his humanity]] and be able to gain a fairer humanoid form, so it only hurt him short-term.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Eliza is half-Demon[[note]]that's Yellow Devil variant, not [[OurDemonsAreDifferent actual demon]][[/note]] from her dad, half-human from her mom.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Gebra's core can control numbers. [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/d/20060323.html Azad points out this is really dangerous]].
* HypercompetentSidekick: Zard serves as one of Trogdor's evil minions, yet time and again he proves smarter and more competent than his boss.
* ILetYouWin: Suggested [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/d/20050524.html here]]
* InsaneTrollLogic: Illie/Illogic is the personification of this, being the AnthropomorphicPersonification of the lack of logic. For a man of scientist like Ty, he's immensely frustrating. Just for a demonstration, [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/d/20050910.html there's how he cut an escape for them]].
* LaughablyEvil: Trogdor is the recurring villain and a vicious, giant dragon. His emotive and quirky personality also makes him one of the main sources of comedy.
* MoeAnthropomorphism: [[MakingASplash Kyo]] is a Pokemorph of Kyogre, meaning a humanoid Pokemon like the others in his universe. Admittedly, he's not all that "moe". Eliza could be considered a moe version of ''Mega Man's'' Devil archetype.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: Demons(capital D) are Yellow Devil-based shapeshifting good creatures composed of {{Nanomachines}}.
* PaletteSwap: Zard is a black/shiny Charizard, and Eliza and Sila's demon forms are green/red recolors of [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic the Yellow Devil]]. Their dad's body was a grey Bass recolor, but his head is [[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Champion Steven's]]. And Logic is a gray recolor of [[VideoGame/MegaManZero the Rainbow Devil]].
* PaintingTheMedium: Villainous characters use red text, while Eliza uses green text to match her coloring.
* PlanetOfHats: Gebra is a planet/universe themed entirely around maths and geometry.
* PosthumousCharacter: Eliza and Sila's parents Alan and Kalinka/Alexis were killed before the start of the comic, with Alan parodying ''Franchise/StarWars'' by being Eliza's SpiritAdvisor when Sila wants his blaster.
* RageAgainstTheAuthor: MC kidnaps Zelda to get Link to be part of a storyline. Link ultimately wins their Pokemon battle.
* RoguesGalleryTransplant: Logic used to be a villain in the Wisest Pikachu sprite comic, before [[SealedEvilInACan being banished to X-Space]]. He later gets brought out to Gebra by Azad, and goes on to conquer the place.
* OurElvesAreBetter: Link and Zelda are depicted as such.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: In Eliza's backstory, [[VideoGame/MegaMan4 Kalinka Cossack]] is her mother and [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/images/Eli-19.png died fighting Daraku]] along with Eliza/Sila's dad. Dr Cossack was still alive after this.
* ShoutOut: Eliza turning fully human and being mode-locked on a full moon is a reference to the title character of ''Franchise/{{Inuyasha}}. The dictator of her world, Daraku, is named after the anime's BigBad Naraku.
* SlimeGirl: Eliza and Sila are human-looking versions of the [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic Yellow Devil]], basically making them this trope. Eliza is half-human, while Sila is fully demon.
* TheComicallySerious
** Logic is a straight-forward and dry-witted villain, but he happens to team up with [[LaughablyEvil Trogdor]] and a lot of his world is pretty silly.
** Sauron even more so. He's the most competent villain by far[[note]]excluding [[VillainOfAnotherStory Daraku]], who basically won in the backstory[[/note]], however he's in a mostly comical SpriteComic and again, is teaming up with Trogdor.
* ThickerThanWater: Sila and Eliza have something of a SiblingRivalry and she's considered a villain, however when her boyfriend Sauron tries to take her out she doesn't hesitate in turning against him.
* TookALevelInKindness: '''Sauron''', of all people, experiences this due to the One Ring [[GoodHurtsEvil entering Yellow Dimensi-Space]]. He's still a villain, but compared to [[TheSociopath his canon personality]] he's now capable of lost emotions like love again and starts a romance with Sila.
* VillainOfAnotherStory: Daraku is the BigBad of the [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/oota.html Out Of The Ashes]] narrative, and the tyrannical dictator of Eliza and Sila's backstory. However he's not the focus of the comic proper and it was discontinued before the protagonists reached his universe.
* WildCard: Sila [[http://reporterz.comicgenesis.com/castvillains.html is listed as one of the villains]], but she's more this trope than anything. She only antagonizes Eliza for personal reasons, is a self-described mercenary and is more just going along with her own plans (and a VillainousCrush) in the ''LOTR'' storyline.
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: Link and Zelda like to talk like this.
