[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/scaredysquirrelbook.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Not much like the cartoon, huh?]]
''Scaredy Squirrel'' (known as ''Frisson l'écureuil'' in French) is an award-winning series of very simple children's picture books created by Quebec author Creator/MelanieWatt, who is also known for creating ''Chester the Cat''. It's about a nervous squirrel named Scaredy who is afraid of nearly everything and lives his life through extremely intricate and meticulous planning. However, Scaredy often finds that things don't go his way. But ''because'' of the breaks from his routines and expectations, in the end he always learns something new, important, and exciting that makes him a better person, er, squirrel.
There are five books in the ''Scaredy Squirrel'' series:
# ''Scaredy Squirrel'' (2006)
# ''Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend'' (2007)
# ''Scaredy Squirrel at the Beach'' (2008)
# ''Scaredy Squirrel at Night'' (2009)
# ''Scaredy Squirrel Has a Birthday Party'' (2011)
In 2011, Creator/{{Nelvana}} made an AnimatedAdaptation of the books that aired on Creator/{{YTV}} and Creator/CartoonNetwork (later Creator/{{Qubo}}) for 52 episodes. Although the cartoon is '''''VERY''''' InNameOnly to the point of sharing literally nothing in common with the books beyond the title character's name, Mélanie Watt served as a creative consultant for the series. ''[[Literature/FangboneThirdGradeBarbarian Fangbone! Third Grade Barbarian]]''
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fangbonebook.jpg]]
In 2012, about three years before Daron Nefcy and Creator/DisneyTelevisionAnimation introduced the world of to the magical interdimensional adventures of ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'', [[http://mikerexbooks.blogspot.com/ Michael Rex]], the bestselling children's author behind horror-themed parodies of classic children's books like ''Goodnight Goon'', as well as ''Furious George'', ''Truck Duck'', and ''Icky Ricky'', created a hero from a realm of fantasy and magic who crossed over to Earth to become an exchange student and befriended an ordinary boy who helped him battle monsters and other evil beings. And his name was... ''Fangbone''!
''Fangbone! Third Grade Barbarian'' is a trilogy of graphic novels oriented at elementary-aged boys starring the eponymous {{Barbarian|Hero}} KidHero, who has come to Earth from the world of Skullbania with the magical big toe of his home's vilest villain, Venomous Drool, having been assigned by the older barbarians to keep this severed digit of great and powerful evil out of Drool's hands. On Earth, Fangbone attends Eastwood Elementary's misfit third-grade class of 3G alongside his newfound friend Bill, but things are complicated by Venomous Drool sending deadly Skullbanian beasts to defeat Fangbone and retrieve his Toe.
And so HilarityEnsues as Fangbone does his best to adjust to life as an ordinary kid dealing with pop quizzes, bullies, science fairs, birthday parties, super-spicy hot wings, and other ordinary children's fare, while his classmates do their best to help Eastwood Elementary's newest and strangest student battle hound-snakes, lava-ferrets, razor-dragons, dirt devils, killer birthday castles, and other minions of Venomous Drool!
The first ''Fangbone'' book, simply titled ''Fangbone! Third Grade Barbarian'', quickly became a bestselling hit with its target demographic. It was quickly succeeded by two more books titled ''The Egg of Misery'' and ''The Birthday Party of Dread'', both of which were equally acclaimed by both kids and reviewers of children's literature, with many in the latter positively comparing the series to ''Literature/CaptainUnderpants'' and the like.
The success of the ''Fangbone!'' books was noticed by TV producers from the Canadian studio Radical Sheep Productions, as well as the executives at Canada's [[Creator/FamilyChannel Family CHRGD]] (the Canadian version of Creator/DisneyXD), who contacted Michael Rex about making an AnimatedAdaptation of the books. Rex agreed to the idea, resulting in the release of ''WesternAnimation/{{Fangbone}}'' in 2016 (initially scheduled for 2014, but delayed due to shifts among the higher-ups). The cartoon only ran for 1 season of 26 episodes, but is notable for the heavy involvement that Michael Rex had in its production (who was an executive producer and did some of the show's concept art), allowing the series to remaining fairly close to the books while also taking it in a few new directions, namely the expanding on the world and its characters (particularly Venomous Drool). It even resulted in the books getting a second publishing in 2016.

''Powerbirds'' is an American animated series aimed at preschool audiences that premiered on Creator/UniversalKids on January 19, 2020. The brainchild of nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist and children's author Steve Breen, the show is based on a series of kids' books he wrote.
Ace (voice of Creator/CoryDoran) and Polly (voice of Creator/TaraStrong) are two parakeets owned by a six-year-old boy named Max who loves superheroes. Whenever Max is busy for the day however, the two birds are living out their own lives as the Powerbirds, two pint-sized superheroes who battle villainous animals to protect their neighborhood.

Additionally, the villains are always visible at the start of an episode in non-anthropomorphic form, suggesting they can perform some kind of similar transformation.
* ArtShift: The show's artstyle changes from a traditional modern [[ThinLineAnimation thin-line]] animation style to a retro-looking [[ThickLineAnimation thick-line]] comic book style whenever Ace and Polly become the Powerbirds.
* BadassAdorable: Ace and Polly are two cute little budgies who become superpowered crimefighters whenever their owner isn't looking.
* BadButt: Due to the fact the show is made for very young children, the conflicts between the Powerbirds and their enemies are non-violent and have very low stakes, with the villains' evil schemes usually being more inconvenient than dangerous for others.
* BigBookOfEverything: Ace and Polly always rely on Max's Superhero Handbook to guide them in being heroes and fighting the villains.
* CallingYourAttacks: The Powerbirds always announce the name of the superpower they will use before activating it.

** The Powerbirds always shout "With the flap of our feathers, we'll do this together!" whenever they head out to fight crime.
* CatsAreMean: One of the Powerbirds' main foes is Clawdette, Max's cat who hates the Powerbirds and seeks to get rid of them so she can become Max's favorite pet.
* CatNinja: Clawdette is a cat who always boasts about having "serious ninja cat skills" and dresses the part as well.
* CivilizedAnimal: All of the show's animal characters can speak, walk, and behave like people, but they still have relatively animal-like lifestyles, such as being the pets of humans or living in the neighborhood's trees.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: One of the show's villains, Asher Stasher, frequently mentions his mother and calls her every day, making it clear that he's very close to her .
* EvilVsEvil: Some episodes feature the Powerbirds having to battle more than one villain, with said villains squabbling with each other. For example, in "Clash of the Critters", Ace and Polly have to deal with Clawdette and Scrapper fight each other over a trash can, having to stop the pair's argument.

* TheNarrator: The series has one during the scenes of Ace and Polly as the Powerbirds who acts a lot like a typical comic book narrator.
* OminousOwl: Minerva, one of the Powerbirds' enemies, is an owl who wants to become the smartest person in the world and does so by using various gadgets to cause trouble for people.
* RascallyRaccoon: Scrapper, one of the Powerbirds' foes, is a raccoon who uses all manner of mischief and trickery to steal food from people.
* RoguesGallery: Ace and Polly have five different villains they deal with in every episode -- Nibbles, Clawdette, Scrapper, Minerva, and Asher Stasher.
* SiblingTeam: Ace and Polly are brother and sister, and always work together as a team against the villains.
* StrictlyFormula: Every episode has certain beats and patterns. It always begins with an outside shot of Max's house, where the episode's villain can be seen in their non-anthropomorphic form. Max will be playing in his room with Ace and Polly before having to leave for the day, upon which Ace and Polly transform into the Powerbirds and go to their hideout, where they use their Neighborhood Scanner to find villains and then head out to thwart them. After the bad guy is stopped, the Powerbirds return home, and Max shares with them what he was doing and begins to play with them again.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Scrapper and Ace are both consistently shown to be huge pizza lovers; the former frequently tries to steal them while the latter often daydreams about them.
* VillainTeamUp: Some episodes feature the Powerbirds having to fight more than one member of their RoguesGallery. For example, "Birdy Guards" has Asher Stasher and Clawdette team up to steal a wrestling championship belt, while all five of the show's villains join forces together in "Villain-Palooza" to defeat the Powerbirds once and for all.

''Powerbirds'' is an American children's animated series that premiered on Creator/UniversalKids in January 19, 2020. The brainchild of nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist and children's author Steve Breen, the series is based on a series of kids' books he wrote.
Ace (voice of Creator/CoryDoran) and Polly (voice of Creator/TaraStrong) are two parakeets owned by a six-year-old boy named Max who loves superheroes. Whenever Max is busy for the day however, the two birds are living out their own secret lives as the Powerbirds, two pint-sized superheroes who battle a variety of villainous animals to keep their fair city safe.
