** LightIsNotGood: The Vatican is menaced with a weapon that turns matter to light energy.
** LightIsNotGood: The movie version of the Hassassin also wears white

** LightIsGood: Played with, subverted and reconstructed. Danilo is a white tiger, but he starts off as a self-loathing, frankly bigoted person, [[spoiler:though by the end he grows out of it, and even becomes a downright saint figure to the gay men he saved]]. The medieval Catholic Church sees white-furred individuals as especially sacred and divine, [[spoiler:but that doesn't save Danilo from being persecuted by them]]. Archbishop Argile is a classical case of LightIsNotGood, being a white furred church official that is absolutely corrupt and vile.

** LightIsNotGood: In book 2.

** LightIsNotGood: The Futilists all wear white, but they're not exactly the good guys.

** ''VideoGame/BreathOfFireIII'': This incarnation of the goddess [[LightIsNotGood Myria]] is a draconic ruler who [[WellIntentionedExtremist truly wishes for peace and order]] no matter what she has to do. Witnessing humanity destroy itself with over-advancement and the expansion of the Desert of Death, Myria detached most of world in an isolated island, trapping it in her design where it's kept static under her rule away from potential destruction. Fearing the Brood for their destructive power, Myria created the Guardians to massacre them, before sealing away her remaining adversaries. [[WrittenByTheWinners Successfully manipulating history]] in embracing her architecture, by framing her adversaries as evil, Myria maintains her sanctuary for decades until the appearance of a surviving Brood name Ryu who she observes and later makes numerous attempts for his life including turning his own adoptive brother against him. While ruthless and [[MyBelovedSmother smothering]], Myria's true ambition is preventing potential catastrophe who till the end only did what she did out of misguided love.

** ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'': [[NinetiesAntiHero Guts]] and [[FallenHero Griffith]] were born in squalor and grew into the mercenary life to become a [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower superhuman]] MasterSwordsman capable of leading the Band of the Hawk (as Guts discovers when the former leader Griffith was rendered lame and crippled due to being tortured for a year). Both Guts and Griffith each have a respective dream which they effectively ruin for each other. They both love [[CockFight the same woman]]. And while they have plenty of connections the [[NobleMaleRoguishMale contrast]] is clear as well: Guts resembles the [[DarkIsNotEvil archetypical villain]] and often [[BloodKnight acts]] like it despite being TheHero, whilst Griffith can be seen as the [[LightIsNotGood archetypical hero]] being a literal KnightInShiningArmor but who is ultimately [[BigBad the villain]] due to his [[MoralEventHorizon unforgivable actions]] during the Eclipse.

** The TrueFinalBoss, Aeon Hero, has a few moments of NightmareFuel, possibly more of them than Parallel Nightmare himself.
*** ''(''VideoGame/SuperKirbyClash'' [Aeon Hero])'': His [[LightIsNotGood Light]] and [[DarkIsEvil Dark]] forms. Picture this: a deranged and maniacal warrior already able to destroy planets with ease raises his power to near-'''PhysicalGod''' proportions. With the [[FridgeHorror alarming implications]] settling in, it kind of gets you wondering what would happen if he is set loose in these forms.

** ''(Emperor Mateus)'' As the Emperor of Heaven: [[LightIsNotGood Light evil being]], [[BitchInSheepsClothing Try to pass himself as benevolent]], [[DealWithTheDevil Offer others immortal life in exchange of serving him]]

** ''(Soul Calibur)'' Portfolio: CoolSword, EmpathicWeapon [[MorphWeapon Can change forms best fit to her wielder]], LivingWeapon, [[ExtraOreDinary Can create]] [[PowerCrystal power crystals]] [[AnIcePerson of ice at will]], [[HealingFactor Can heal it's wielder]], [[ExcaliburInTheRust Excalibur Expy]], KnightTemplar, [[GrandTheftMe Can possess ]] [[MindManipulation and persuade her wielder to do her bidding]], ManipulativeBastard, AngelicBeauty, AFormYouAreComfortableWith, PureIsNotGood, LightIsNotGood
** ''(Yuuto Kiba)'' Like the other members of the ORC, Kiba has befriended Luka, whom he respects for his desire for a peaceful coexistence between monsters and human beings. Luka in turn does sympathize with Kiba due to his bad experiences of getting experimented on by religious fanatics, saying that it reminds him of his experiences with [[LightIsNotGood angels]] in his own world.

** '''Inverted''': Malsophia is DarkIsNotEvil, and her shadow actually ''heals'' and ''protects'' the world from the harsh LightIsNotGood of Lucisophia.

** Holli Would from ''Film/CoolWorld''. She rebels against the authority of the world both Frank and The Professor because they stand against her rebellious nature, seduces a man into committing a grave sin that has grave consequences on the world, and causes an apocalyptic event out of amusement. She is associated with a [[LightIsNotGood light color palette]], is associated with a hellish location and her defeat echoes the Devil in being [[DraggedOffToHell dragged back down to the hell she belongs to]].

** LightIsNotGood: [[spoiler: Daguva is seen in white for both his human and Grongi forms. Which is actually appropriate, considering he's somewhat akin to {{Satan}} or the Antichrist.]]

** LightIsNotGood: [[BigBad Zhilan]] wears a very elegant white outfit in "Rage".
** LightIsNotGood: Master Drake is introduced wearing white and presents himself as a wise martial arts master. In reality, he is crook who is manipulating his students into participating in illegal fights which he is profiting from.

** Toyotomi Hideyoshi does this [[IncomingHam as part of his introduction]] in ''VideoGame/SengokuBasara'''s second anime season, leading to the clouds above him to part and the sun to shine down on him as the rest of of the battlefield remains overcast as the OminousLatinChanting swells to a crescendo. LightIsNotGood indeed.

** ''WesternAnimation/ReBoot'': Fourth Season villain [[LightIsNotGood Daemon]] is a Supervirus, appearing as a MysticalWaif styled on [[JeanneDArchetype Jeanne D'Arc]]. Unlike her [[BoyishShortHair inspiration]], however, Daemon has long tendrils (possibly [[LovecraftianSuperpower tentacles]]) that each move independently of the wind (or even ''each other''), almost like the arms of a sea anemone. Given her [[DissonantSerenity detached]] and [[FantasticallyIndifferent indifferent]] [[AffablyEvil sweetness]], [[AGodAmI holy connotations]] and status as HiveQueen, it gives her [[HumanoidAbomination otherwise sprite-like appearance]] a ''deeply'' unsettling feel.
** ''WesternAnimation/SheRaAndThePrincessesOfPower'': Arguably [[InvokedTrope invoked]] by [[spoiler: [[GreaterScopeVillain Horde Prime]]]] with his [[PrehensileHair prehensile]] cranial cables, further highlighting his [[LightIsNotGood holy]] and [[AGodAmI otherworldly]] aesthetic.

** At the end of ''VideoGame/HollowKnight'', if you complete the criteria for the true ending, you find yourself in the arena where you fight the TrueFinalBoss, a platform floating high in the clouds with the sun glowing in the background... but there's nothing there. If you hop up onto a small higher platform, you find a 'Challenge' prompt like the one you used the call out the Mantis Lords earlier in the game, and the Knight turns towards the background, brandishing its nail in challenge. Then ''the sun sprouts wings'' and a [[BossSubtitles title]] fills the entire screen: [[spoiler:[[LightIsNotGood "THE RADIANCE"]]]].

** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV'': PlayedForDrama for the patients of the Inn at Journey's Head. The Inn is a clinic for people infected by [[LightIsNotGood too much light aether]] as it slowly turns them into [[AngelicAbomination sin eaters]]. Those working at the Inn tend to the afflicted, trying to ease their burdens in day-to-day life. When they're close to completing their transformation, the innkeepers will give them a PrisonersLastMeal of their favorite food that's been poisoned to give them a MercyKill.

** LightIsNotGood: The Huggables have light color schemes, but they are killing machines.

** LightIsNotGood: [[spoiler:Jakou's female form is angelic and beautiful, and has golden wings. He later combines his male and female forms together, resulting in a saintly figure with demonic-looking wings.]]

** BrokenAesop: The DarkIsNotEvil and LightIsNotGood message is undermined in the DS UpdatedRerelease by [[WriterOnBoard extra lines]] in the pre-ending crawl [[{{Anvilicious}} going on and on]] about evil being defeated by "the ''light'' of hope." Ultimately subverted with the Cloud of Darkness, though -- it applies only in name (it's really a neutral OmnicidalManiac whose current tenure just happens to result from the Flood of Darkness this time), and it (or some other incarnation) was a byproduct of the Flood of Light as well.
** LightIsNotGood: Books in Saronia and a couple of bards in Duster will offer details about the previous "Flood of Light" cataclysm. This entity that the Warriors of the Dark had to fight, comprised of the excess light when the Ancients shifted the balance in light's favor as Xande does with the darkness, was a pure evil being no different from the Cloud of Darkness whose sole objective was to destroy both worlds.

** LightIsNotGood: God is merely a consiousness represented by a point of light. [[spoiler:God also plans to put humanity out of its misery.]]

** DarkIsNotEvil: The Oni race in general is depicted as demons of darkness. While they may be violent, they're on mankind's side, contrasting with the Genma God being generally LightIsNotGood (the Genma race overall are pretty content with their demonic DarkIsEvil appearances).
** LightIsNotGood: Fortinbras, as the BigBad of ''Dawn Of Dreams'', where he is explicitly referred to as the God of Light. In the first game, he was your standard dark demon overlord. Also worth noticing that noone of the five heroes start with a light-aligned weapon... whose magic is still effective against certain Bosses (Like Claudius).

** DarkIsNotEvil: Along with [[LightIsNotGood sinister light elementals]], there are also non-evil dark elementals such as Oichi and Sasuke.
** LightIsNotGood: Villainous light-elementals exist, most notably Motonari and Hideyoshi.

** LightIsNotGood: If Doctor Doom starts glowing, stay away from him. He will release a big deadly ray, and even touching him hurts.

** LightIsNotGood: ''(empty ZCE)''

** LightIsNotGood: ''Holy crap, Simo.'' While the story Lumi tells portrays him as a hero overthrowing a tyrant, these days Simo is a petty, paranoid man who's committed to killing his oldest brother and willing to use Lumi to do so. He also [[spoiler:is responsible for several of the things which are used as proof that Sindri was an nonredeemable tyrant, bragging as Sindri lay wounded that no one will remember it as Simo having been anything but a heroic liberator]].

** LightIsNotGood: Cruella's fur coat is light-colored, yet she is the villain.

** LightIsNotGood: The MirroredConfrontationShot towards the end of the trailer has the sun among the Darkness' minions, while the moon is among Pibby's makeshift army.

** LightIsNotGood: White Wolf. Despite her white coat, she's as vile as her brother was.

# WorldOfWarcraft.TropesSToZ

to:

** LightIsNotGood: The Scarlet Crusade and blood elves (before patch 2.4 gave the latter some redemption, anyway).
** LightIsNotGood: The winged arakkoa in Draenor seem to regard the sun as holy (and indeed it forms the basis of much of their power), but, with ''very'' few exceptions, they're ''not'' good guys.
** LightIsNotGood: What Xe'ra tried to do to Illidan (forcing the Light on him, heedless of his own wishes) was not good either.
** LightIsNotGood: The recruitment storyline for Mag'har orcs reveals that Yrel now leads a band of fanatical "Lightbound" draenei and orcs who were turned to the Light either willingly or forcefully like Illidan nearly was.
** LightIsNotGood: The venthyr of Revendreth have the traditional vampire weakness of being vulnerable to light, but if it doesn't outright destroy them, prolonged exposure turns them into feral ash ghouls.
# WorldOfWarcraft.TropesSToZTropesSToZ
** SuddenSequelHeelSyndrome: Common in the game.
***Yrel in ''Battle for Azeroth''. In ''Warlords of Draenor'', she was one of the most unambiguously good women in [=WoW=] this side of Alexstrasza and one of the few times that Blizzard did not screw up writing a female character, and became quite the fan favorite as a result. As revealed in the Mag'har Orc recruitment storyline, [[spoiler:she now leads a band of draenei, orcs, and ogres collectively known as [[SoulSavingCrusader the Lightbound]] who seek to convert all the orcs of Draenor to the Light ([[LightIsNotGood willingly or not]]).]] While her [[WellIntentionedExtremist intentions are good]], she has become far more ruthless than before. Unsuprisingly, this turn of events was not well-received by her fans.

** LightIsNotGood: The Schnee family is a white themed family that created the SDC, Remnant's biggest Dust distributing company. They are led by their patriarch, Jacques Schnee, who is a cruel and abusive man that pays his Faunus employees poorly, raised Weiss and her siblings up in an unloving environment, and looks down on everyone who isn't a Schnee. Weiss replicates many of his poor behaviours, but she has a heart underneath that comes out from time to time.

** LightIsNotGood: The Sphynx, Butterfly's head torturer, dresses in white. His boss, the Tom, wears a mask in white and golden. The Moggy, another member of the Alley Cats, is an albino.
** LightIsNotGood: [[spoiler: The colours of House Mullendore are predominantly white and bright orange, yet Maron Mullendore is one of the main villains.]]

** LightIsNotGood: Stacy is almost always seen wearing light-colored clothing, usually white. However, she's one of the most unpleasant people in the film.

** LightIsNotGood: The white-suited humans in their clean, sterile towers. Sure, they're more-or-less good people, but [[spoiler: they're unwittingly maintaining the Tet's ongoing obliteration of humanity]]. Similarly, the shiny, white, disturbingly TriggerHappy AttackDrones.

** LightIsNotGood: The gateway to [[EldritchLocation the Void]] is a triangular, blinding white light, and the Disciples are dressed in white robes and hoods. There's nothing benevolent about either of these examples.

** BigBad: In the main ''SMT'' series and some spinoffs: YHVH, a {{Jerkass|God}} representation of {{God}} created out of the human desire for order and control [[GoneHorriblyRight no matter the cost]]. Besides being leader of the [[OrderVsChaos Law]] faction, YHVH is a LightIsNotGood KnightTemplar usually responsible for whatever CrapsackWorld you find yourself in.
** DemonicPossession: In ''VideoGame/DigitalDevilSaga'', this is what happens to people who can't control their Atma Avatars, they lose their human identity and believe they truly are the mythological figures they represent, making it a horrific combo between Type 1 and 2. The first cases were the [[LightIsNotGood Four Seraphs]], [[KnightTemplar Metatron]] and [[Myth/HinduMythology Meganada]].
** SignatureMove: Metatron has Fire of Sinai, a rain of [[LightIsNotGood Almighty-type holy fire]].
** SignatureMove: Every Fiend has a signature move in ''[[VideoGame/ShinMegamiTenseiIIINocturne Nocturne]]'': Matador has [[SuperSpeed Red Capote]] and [[SliceAndDiceSwordsmanship Andalucia]], Daisojou has Preach and [[LifeDrain Meditation]], Hell Biker has [[WeaponizedExhaust Hell Exhaust and Hell Burner]], White Rider has [[BoomHeadshot God's Bow]], Red Rider has [[AxCrazy Terrorblade]], Black Rider has [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Soul Divide]], Pale Rider has [[PlagueMaster Pestilence]], the Harlot has [[MightyRoar Beast Roar]] and Trumpeter has [[OneHitKO Evil Melody]] and [[HealThyself Holy Melody]]. Others examples are Skadi ([[DishingOutDirt Earthquake]]), Amaterasu ([[LightIsNotGood Godly Light]]), Dante (his entire moveset), Pazuzu ([[BlowYouAway Wet Wind]]) Kurama Tengu ([[LightEmUp Starlight]]), Mada ([[TheAlcoholic Intoxicate]]), Valkyrie ([[DareToBeBadass Soul Recruit]]), Mithra ([[WithUsOrAgainstUs Death Pact]]) and Dionysius ([[AlcoholHic Wine Party]]). Each of the Conception gods has at least one: Ahriman has Hell's Call and Apocalypse, Noah has Domination and Baal Avatar has Bael's Bane.

** ''(FridgeBrilliance)'': Let's examine ''Manga/DeathNote'' and ''Code Geass'': ''Manga/DeathNote'' is a dark anime, in which most of the scenes and characters are dark and toned, and it contains a CrapsackWorld, but also a protagonist who subscribes to LightIsNotGood. ''Code Geass'', on the other hand, seems much more straightforward and even optimistic, uses a lot of bright colors in its characters and scenery, and comes with a protagonist who subscribes (at least initially) to DarkIsNotEvil. ''Code Geass'' has a hopeful BittersweetEnding while ''Manga/DeathNote'' has a ShootTheShaggyDog style DownerEnding. The two shows could easily be seen as counterparts. -- @/{{2writeis2life}}

** ColourCodedForYourConvenience: White — almost uniformly connected to [[LightIsGood goodness]] (Albus Dumbledore, Patronuses), except Voldemort's unnatural [[UndeathlyPallor chalk-white skin]]. The final stage of Voldemort's body regeneration potion is also glows [[LightIsNotGood so bright white that Harry sees it through eyes screwed shut]].

to:

** ''(The Golems, in General)'' LightIsNotGood: A recurring theme among them. In the 'Variant Wizard' lullaby, the Straight Thunders are described as 'pillar[s] of light pregnant with darkness'. This 'darkness' inside the Straight Thunders ruins the soil and seems to induce symptoms such as paralysis if people are too close to the blast.
** ''(The Golems, in General)'' LightIsNotGood: The Shokera are feminine insect-like figures with pure white clothing.
** ''(Mirror Man)'' LightIsNotGood: The body takes the form of a mirrored surface.
# ''(The Temple)'' Characters.{{Fractale}}{{Fractale}}
** ''(empty ZCE)''

** ''(The Will, in General)'' LightIsNotGood: They look like angels, but are the villains of the sequel trilogy.

** ''(Father Alexander Anderson)'' LightIsNotGood: He is a ChurchMilitant who really does want to kill off vampires, but his, um, AxCrazy moments make him border more this than on LightIsGood.
** ''(Enrico Maxwell)'' LightIsNotGood: A HolierThanThou albino.

** ''(Gardhe, God of the Sun)'' LightIsNotGood: Gardhe and his knights have little qualms about committing murder when it suits their needs.

** ''(Flightmare)'' LightIsNotGood: The Flightmare glows bright blue and attacks anything it feels is a threat to its food supply.

** ''(General Zangetsu / The Ace of Clubs)'' LightIsNotGood: Wears bright armor and is part of Project Solitaire. However he does have an honorable side.

# Characters.NarutoMadaraUchiha

to:

** ''(Tropes exclusive to him as Ark-One)'' ContrastingSequelProtagonist: The LightIsNotGood Ark-One is this to the DarkIsEvil [[Series/KamenRiderZiO Oma Zi-O]], as both are the forms the main characters have and eventually take on that symbolizes their status as a FallenHero and both are formed by the protagonist willingly embracing dark powers born from witnessing the death of a loved one; Geiz for Sougo and Is for Aruto. However, Oma Zi-O, [[AllYourPowersCombined which combined the powers of all Heisei Riders]], originally belonged to Sougo's [[FutureMeScaresMe villianous future self]] which the present Sougo sought to avoid thoroughout his series, while Aruto, who has directly been fighting the Ark and its minions, becomes its host [[RevengeBeforeReason for revenge]] by using ThePowerOfHate before and during his time as Ark-One. How they are each dealt with is also notable: Sougo never fully succumbed to the power of Oma as proven when he willingly gave up the power to repair all of the worlds, while Aruto goes through an HeelRealization and allows Ark-One to be destroyed to overcome his malice.
** ''(Tropes exclusive to him as Ark-One [Kamen Rider Ark-One])'' LightIsNotGood: Covered in white plating to mimic the brightly-colored Zero-One, but is founded on the principles of targeted hatred rather than idealism.
# Characters.NarutoMadaraUchihaNarutoMadaraUchiha:
** LightIsNotGood: After he becomes the Ten-Tails' new Jinchuuriki, just like Obito, he's clad almost completely in white, and his skin also turns this color.

They are brightly-colored Fairies with the Psychic/Fairy type, a "Good Guy" typing shared with the benevolent Ralts line. Hattrem and Hatterene are extremely dangerous and quick to violence, especially towards highly emotional beings.

** ''(The Nameless Passenger / The Voice)'' LightIsNotGood: [[spoiler:She wears bright white armor, has a flaming mane and tail, and thinks of herself as an ExaltedTorturer sent to punish Discord for his many crimes. She is also an insane Nightmare directly responsible for the permanent CrapsackWorld state of the Dark World timeline, as well as the continued suffering of every single living thing trapped in it.]]

** ''(The Voice)'' LightIsNotGood: Introduced as a celestial, divine figure... then he opens his mouth, and you promptly realize he's an asshole.

** ''(Temple)'' LightIsNotGood: He is named after a holy place of prayers, wears light blue armor and seems like a nice guy, but his true nature is much more sinister than he lets on.

** ''(The Seven Heroes [Wagnus])'' LightIsNotGood: Wagnus sports a halo, four wings, and even a crown of thorns in his leveled-up version, but considering the fact that he's the leader of the Seven Heroes, he's anything but good.

** ''(Villains [[[spoiler:Declan Jade]]])'' LightIsNotGood: He wears white, and is a villain.

** ''(Solaris [Tropes Relating to All Three])'' SatanicArchetype: Solaris is Satan-as-Lucifer, the FallenAngel. In his complete form he's a celestial being who emits light, and has [[NumberOfTheBeast 6 stones on his back (shaped like a star), 6 claws, and 6 horn segments on his head]], as well as a second phase that appears like [[LightIsNotGood a luminous angel-like being]].
** ''(Solaris [Solaris])'' LightIsNotGood: A being of heavenly light who is capable of destroying time itself.

** ''(Julian Robotnik)'' LightIsNotGood: During his days working for King Acorn, he dressed in a white naval uniform. However, he was still just as evil then, simply biding his time until the time was ripe for him to spring a coup.

** ''(Kingdom of Kupa Keep [Princess Kenny [=McCormick=]])'' LightIsNotGood: He's (she's?) a little boy who's [[WholesomeCrossdresser dressing up as a stereotypical princess]] in white and pink and attacks with [[EverythingsBetterWithRainbows rainbows]] and unicorns, so surely the Princess is completely benign and won't betray you, right? [[spoiler:Wrong.]]

** ''(Silver Sablinova / Silver Sable)'' LightIsNotGood: Wears a bright outfit, and is the head of a heavy-handed mercenary group.

** ''(Path of the Open Hand, in General)'' LightIsNotGood: Members of the Path wear robes that are usually a mix of white, blue and gold, colors that aren't dissimilar from what High Republic era Jedi would wear, but while they claim to be trying to liberate the Force, they are actually a cult with authoritarian motives.

** ''(Skeletons [Paladin])'' LightIsNotGood: It has really bright armor, and it starts not-so bright chaos.

** ''(Luna)'' LightIsNotGood: Appears as a completely white being with a female outline in pictures taken of her. [[spoiler:After the ''QUEEN OF THE LUNARIANS'', she completely turns on humanity and orders the decimation of their language through her kidnapped king.]]
** ''(Lunarians)'' LightIsNotGood: The cloud ship which they use is completely white, [[spoiler:but they're a bunch of invading aliens who erase the human language and turn New York City into a hellhole. Said cloud ship is even used to perform mass lobotomies.]]

** ''(Shen Jiu)'' LightIsNotGood: He wore light colored robes and was the titular "Scum Villain" in the original canon.

** ''(The Shipmaster)'' LightIsNotGood: He wears pristine white armor as a sign of his rank, but it does not hide the fact that he's an AxCrazy, OmnicidalManiac hellbent on firing Halo.

** ''(Saint [Geoffrey Pellick (Saint)])'' LightIsNotGood: Wears powered armor themed as an angel of light, but is one of Teacher's minions.
** ''(The Simurgh)'' LightIsNotGood: While it wouldn't be accurate to describe her as "evil" the Simurgh's angelic appearance is very much at odds with her behavior.

** ''(Knights [The Five Knights [Adolmaea, The Sun King]])'' LightIsNotGood: The Sun King is always wielded by a villain, first Madoras and then Grazel.

** ''(Qifrey)'' LightIsNotGood: Qifrey is mainly covered in bright white robes, but he is capable of very dubious and cruel actions. Such as [[spoiler: fighting the Brimhats that appeared during his apprentices test instead of focusing on their safety]] and [[spoiler: erasing the memories of Mr. Nolnoa and Olruggio when he doesn't want them revealing the information he discovered about the Brimhats.]]

** ''(Shimmer/[[spoiler:Sting Chameleon]])'' LightIsNotGood: Has light based abilities (invisibility cloak), a light based weapon (see above), and was one of the villains. Gets turned into LightIsGood once he joins the X-Hunters.

** ''(The Endbringer)'' LightIsNotGood: Similar to before, the Telethia is not all that benevolent despite its angelic appearance and AdaptationalHeroism being in play. It will try to kill any lifeform that it deems impure, regardless of innocence or sapience.

** ''(Magical Musketeer)'' LightIsNotGood: While they are LIGHT monsters, they are Fiend-Type and implied to be malevolent. Zakiel, as an {{Expy}} of the "black huntsman"—and thus, the devil—takes this one step further.
** ''(Maju)'' LightIsNotGood: Emperor Maju Garzett is decked out in golden armor (potentially his own skin), and is likely still just as evil.

** ''Literature/TheThrawnTrilogy'' notably frames Grand Admiral Thrawn and Joruus C'baoth as {{Foil}}s of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, respectively, making it clear that the series wouldn't simply be a retread of the Original Trilogy. While Palpatine was an ominous black-cloaked [[CardCarryingVillain card-carrying]] human villain known for his sadism and his mastery of the Dark Side, Thrawn is an impeccably [[WickedCultured cultured]] OfficerAndAGentleman known for his [[TheChessmaster tactical brilliance]] and his love of art, as well as a HumanAlien who habitually dresses in well-tailored [[LightIsNotGood white military regalia]]. Likewise, while Vader was a tragically corrupted Dark Jedi known for his stoicism and physical discipline, and he ultimately turned against Palpatine in a HeelFaceTurn, C'baoth is the insane clone of a legendary Jedi Master who's brought down by his own mental instability, and Thrawn turns against ''him'' when it becomes clear that he can't be controlled.
** ''Literature/NewJediOrder'': The Vong's leader, [[GodEmperor Supreme Overlord Shimrra]], also contrasts with Palpatine, as is explicitly pointed out by Luke when he and Shimrra meet. Palpatine is a withered old man, while Shimrra is a [[LargeAndInCharge towering warrior in his physical prime]]; Palpatine has a [[DarkIsEvil darkness motif]] while Shimrra has a [[LightIsNotGood rainbow motif]]; Palpatine was the ruler of the Galaxy Far Far Away while Shimrra rules an outside force trying to take it over; Palpatine came to power by guile, while Shimrra came to power via military coup; Palpatine subverted the Republic to create the Empire, while Shimrra is merely the latest in a thousand-year dynasty of tyrannical Supreme Overlords; Palpatine chiefly relies on his cunning and the power of the Dark Side, while Shimrra is a physically powerful warrior whose enhanced powers come from BioAugmentation rather than the Force and has no problem getting his own hands dirty; Palpatine is well-known to the people of the galaxy as ruler of the Empire, while most non-Vong have barely heard of Shimrra until relatively late in the war; Palpatine spends most of his encounter with Luke trying to turn him to his side, while Shimrra and Luke just duel. [[spoiler: Oh, and Palpatine's actually the Big Bad of the original trilogy, while Shimrra's just a decoy for the ''real'' Big Bad of the New Jedi Order]].

His name may be associated with TheCycleOfEmpires, OrderVersusChaos, and GaiasVengeance. Therefore, not an OmnicidalManiac by default; a destroyer deity may just have a GodJob to perform without any malice attached. * ''(Michael Morningstar / Darkstar)''LightIsNotGood: As Mike Morningstar he's not only beautiful and blonde, but his powers are mostly represented by golden/yellow light. As Darkstar, his powers now are obviously [[DarkIsEvil dark energy]], but he once almost regained his original appearance, and presumably his powers.
* ''(Michael Morningstar / Darkstar)'' SatanicArchetype: His surname "Morningstar" is used as a translation for Lucifer, he also starts with [[LightIsNotGood divine light-based powers]] but was using them for evil, not unlike the FallenAngel himself.
* ''(Michael Morningstar / Darkstar [Michael Morningstar (Reboot)])'' LightIsNotGood: His debut episode is even titled "Bright Lights, Black Hearts".

** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV'' plays with this trope a tad in the ''A Realm Reborn'' era. After the events of the final battle in ''1.0'', the story opens up five years later with many of the city-states trying to rebuild after the [[ThatsNoMoon lesser moon Dalmund]] appeared over Eorzea and broke open, unleashing the dragon Bahamut. They find themselves besieged not only by the beast tribes who seek to take advantage of this by summoning their gods but also by the Garlean Empire, who seeks to continue their reign of conquest. Probably worst off in this are the Amalj'aa race, where a vast majority of their kind have been tempered by their god Ifrit, that the very ''very'' few who haven't are hiding in constant fear. The ''Shadowbringers'' expansion has another example in "The First", an alternate reality in TheMultiverse where the balance between Light and Darkness was disrupted to the point that [[LightIsNotGood the power of Light destroyed most of the world]]. All that remains is the continent of Norvrandt, and its myriad peoples and remaining settlements are struggling to deal with the fallout from the Flood of Light. Beyond Norvrandt, there is only the Empty, a vast, lifeless desert.

** Adventure Mode returns! This time, a [[LightIsNotGood malevolent being of light]] has captured every Smasher except Kirby, who sets out to rescue them! ''And the characters are voiced!''

** LightIsNotGood: A member of team Foo Fighter Brilliant Stars, Hiromi, also uses Royal Paladins, and he's not the most upstanding guy out there.

** LightIsNotGood: As the Witch of Waste learns, magical lamps are the polar opposite of "good". To a lesser extent Suliman as well – she sits in a conservatory, lit brilliantly by sunlight and surrounded by thriving plants, and she appears the very image of benevolence and wisdom.

** ''(Dr Hickfield/Dr Hotti)'' LightIsNotGood: He's not evil, but he's an incredibly predatory and repulsive man.
** ''(Charles Fuzz)'' LightIsNotGood: Wears bright clothes and is a corrupt detective willing to resort to murder if he needs to.

** ''(Earl of Lemongrab)'' DarkIsNotEvil: Lemongrab and Lemongrab are respectively this and LightIsNotGood. Their morality seems to alternate between light grey and dark grey.
