!Metal Gear Meme Cleanup
Recently a lot of examples were removed from the MemeticMutation page of Franchise/MetalGear. However, some of these included examples that were ''actually'' memes, such as "Nanomachines, son!". Right now, I'm scouring the net for info. on these entries. I'll search on sites like Know Your Meme and archives of [[Website/FourChan a certain image board]] for evidence. If I can't find anything, then I'll just leave the example be. The ones that do appear will be re-added to the MemeticMutation page, with added context saying how or why they are memes. I will only look for the examples that have been deleted, but if necessary I'll add some context to existing examples as well.
* Note: Entries will be tagged as "keep" (for when there is evidence of it being a meme), "leave" (for when I couldn't find anything about it or it just doesn't seem like a meme) and "BR", an abbreviation for "being researched'', (the proof of it being a meme or at least frequently brought up is being searched).

* Kept you waiting, huh? [[labelnote:Explaination]]Snake and Big Boss's CatchPhrase.[[/labelnote]] - keep. I've seen this quoted far too many times. However, I'll add the context that it's quoted a lot, especially for things that people had to wait a long amount of time for.
* "Are Snake and Otacon... you know..." [[labelnote:Explanation]]The title of a [=gameFAQs=] thread discussing a similar matter.[[/labelnote]] - leave; this probably seems like more of a reaction to a meme.

* [[GoodBadTranslation "I FEEL ASLEEP!"]] [[labelnote:Explanation]]The NES localized version of the original ''VideoGame/MetalGear'' had a lot of terrible translations. This particular line was meant to be "I ''fell'' asleep", signaling that the guard was no longer asleep. The mistranslation made it sound as though he was falling asleep as he said the line.[[/labelnote]] - keep. I found a screencap of this scene on one of the archives, and when I reverse image searched it it yielded ''70'' results. That means the image has been posted many times, therefore becoming memetic. Plus, bad translations typically become memetic in varying degrees due to their unintentional hilarity. Will add with [[https://i.imgur.com/GOVvp.jpg this]] screencap.
** "Uh-oh! The truck have started to move!" - no context, but keep and add context. I search through the archives and it yielded a good number of results, so it's safe to say that this translation is about as notorious at the one above.
* This is [insert character here]... [insert command here] ...Over. [[labelnote:Explanation]]The sentences said by a certain character each time he/she finishes the radio call in the first localized version of the original [=MSX2=] ''VideoGame/MetalGear1''.[[/labelnote]] - BR. I might leave it because the wording of this makes it too general to search on the archives.

I've seen this one a lot, and now I found the context: It's either used to mock otakus or to compare situations to those in anime, usually in a favorable but joking manner.

* The alleged leaks from May 2022 brought countless memes, though they mostly died down in the next month:
** A photo of an unknown female with several papers, including one saying "I hate myself" being pasted onto her, quickly spawned many edits, usually editing another character's face to include the papers. The character also drew comparisons to ''VideoGame/LifeIsStrange'' and Creator/JaredLeto's version of [[Characters/BatmanTheJoker The Joker]] from ''Film/SuicideSquad''.
** The image of a messy room led to edits where another character was added into it, typically a character with a messy living situation.
** A character from one of the pictures quickly grew popular and was given the {{Fan Nickname}}s "Sakura Head" and "Cherry Blossom Head" due to its cherry blossom motifs.
** The sheer amount of leaks led to people taking random images and claiming that they were "leaks" of a new ''Silent Hill'' game.
