Arguably, it is like all other avatar-based RP in the TVTropes forums, but has its own storyline and rules. The characters are also restricted to a room which is a gateway to and from other dimensions... sort of.

The thread used to be comprised of many players [[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=12983510570A63380100&page=709 at the time of the split]], but as time marched on many have left with newer players joining the ranks. New players are currently not being accepted at this time due to an overabundance of players. The discussion thread can be found [[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13232935040A44850200&page=1 here]] and the sign-up [[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13232948760A17760100&page=1 here.]]

!Other Rules, because as of late, you can't be too careful

* NO RAPE. This should go without saying.
* NO GODMODDING. Can't believe I actually have to make a rule for this...
* This game is meant for interaction, so interact. Large walls of text within one's own characters is highly discouraged.
* IC is your friend. Stick to it!
* Try to respect the wishes of other players. If someone doesn't want something done to their character, don't do it.
* Fanservice for the sake of fanservice is prohibited. If the sole point of the character/scenario you are using is to indulge in your fetish, we will ask you to stop, or revise said character/scenario. If you become subject to questioning about this rule, we will ask you to provide proof that you are not violating it.

!'''Addendum:''' Multiple transgressions may result in a formal request to leave the thread. You have been warned.

!Additional tips to make the roleplaying experience fun for all can be found [[RoleplayingTips/OurAvatarsAreInARoomTogether here.]]

!!'''Due to how large the thread is, and how many plot cycles we have gone through (and because we are probably not important enough to get episode recap pages), tropes are sorted by story arc.'''

!Tropes that apply across the board, or nowhere in particular, go here:

* AbortedArc: The one with evil!Zack, due to confusion, plotholes, and retcons, and the one with Kamen Riders, due to Strig leaving and player exclusion.
** The Santiago Claus one, due to Duffy's lack of wifi.
* AfterTheEnd: The SC arc.
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: Due to [[ScheduleSlip some difficulties with the plot itself]], everyone decided to form an Away Team to pass the time, the team consists of: Sir Clarence, Legion, a couple .hack// characters, Alpha's/Mike's clone, Gamzee Makara, Holly Short, Harry Dresden, a quiet robot, Savyna, and Rock.
* {{Badass}}: Just about everyone.
* BigBad: Several.
* ButThouMust
* CameBackWrong: [[DamagedSoul Zack.]] So very, very much.
* CurbStompBattle: SlenderMan versus Chewbacca. Chewbacca won.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Than the Forum Game.
* DiabolusExMachina: Cloud.
* FromBadToWorse: After the Traveller arc.
* GroinAttack: to Shirou from Lancelot. Paraphrased:
--> Shirou: I need those!
--> Lancelot: For what, defiling my King?
--> Shirou: ...Yes?
--> Lancelot: -stomp-
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: Gordon, Mordin, and Shepard showed up towards the last leg of the Vesperia arc, Yu was worse in that he showed up during the ''final battle'' of the Persona arc.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Aven functions as this to Cloud. When he leaves, things go downhill for the latter very quickly. [[spoiler: Ironically, it is also likely Aven's presence that is further dragging Cloud into his downward spiral, since, due to Aven's encouragement and support, Cloud feels twice as bad for not recovering and deems this to be his own fault, leading into deeper depression, which Aven then tries to correct, thus perpetuating the cycle.]]
* MindRape: Done several times to several people.
* PinocchioSyndrome: Cloud, after getting Jenova'd.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits
* ReasonYouSuckSpeech: Cloud delivers two of these; one to Not!Zack, and another to Zelretch.
* RuleOfCool: It runs on this.
** [[spoiler: The Eighth Arcana of the final battle has a midair dogfight with the Millennium Falcon with Nyx wielding and energy sword whilst Han pilots and a guy with a BF BifurcatedWeapon, a potion maker with an eyepatch and a potion gun that shoots lasers (sort of), a walking carpet that can rip a man's arms from their sockets, a guy with a chainsaw sword, and Bahamut all do battle with the anthropomorphic personification of Death. ]]
** [[spoiler:The final battle of the Vesperia arc was a group of Crystal Giants against an EldritchAbomination in orbit around Terca Lumeries]]
** [[spoiler:The whole theme park in the Castle of Dreams arc, especially the [[TheWonka eccentrically brilliant]] Barry Acres, the Six Flags Guy {{Expy}} and the water show at the very end.]]
** [[spoiler:The ''entire moon'' is converted into a badass spaceship in the Spaceship arc, as is the room itself.]]
* TheVirus: Jenova. Also, the vampire blood.
* TraumaCongaLine: Cloud is slowly driven insane from the buildup of stressful events preceeding the Traveller arc in the forum game, then is openly despised by Zack (as neither of them know they are from alternate timelines). Zack then tries to kill him, and is killed (again), then is brought back as a sadistic monster, who hates Cloud just as much. He is then [[MindRape Mind Raped]] by Nagato, his hallucinations taunting him all the while. [[spoiler: This, however, culminates in a CMOA for him, where he [[ShutUpHannibal tells Zack in so many words to stuff it.]] ]]
* [[spoiler:TrueFinalBoss: Nyarlathotep, for the Persona arc.]]
* WorldOfCardboardSpeech: [[spoiler: Cloud's response to Not!Zack. [[MindRape Shame it doesn't last for later on....]] ]]
* YankTheDogsChain: Cloud. So very, very often.
* YourSoulIsMine: Cloud can do this.

!The Nasuverse arc contains examples of:

* BigBad: Crimson Moon
* BodyHorror: Cloud. He simply has no luck at all...
* DemonicPossession: Of a sort. Done by SlenderMan, [[{{Nasuverse}} Crimson Moon]], and attempted by Jenova. Done to Cloud.
* CooldownHug: More of a cooldown tackle/MindHug from Lancelot, but it still applies.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: True Ancestors.
* PhysicalScarsPsychologicalScars: When Cloud first obtains the marks across his face stemming from his fight with Vlad, which marked the beginning of the loss of his humanity and sanity.

!The Persona arc contains examples of:

* AbstractApotheosis: Erebus and Nyx. [[spoiler: And L, after his death.]]
* AsLongAsThereIsEvil: Erebus is the embodiment of the despair and hatred in the collective unconscious of humanity, meaning it can never be truly killed until humanity itself is enlightened (something one of the heroes eventually sets out to accomplish). [[spoiler: However, on the flipside of this, we have L, who becomes the embodiment of hope and humanity's desire for justice.]]
* BigBad: Erebus
* BiggerBad: Nyx. [[spoiler:Nyarlathotep.]]
* BittersweetEnding: And how! On the one hand, [[spoiler: Nyx has been defeated, Minato actually ''survived,'' Aven finally got his milkshake, and the cultists are dead. On the other hand, L is dead, both he and Light suffered a FateWorseThanDeath (not that Light didn't have it coming, but ''ouch''), Nyx is still around somewhere, and Cloud may or may not be the AnthropomorphicPersonification of Chaos and might never see his family again, and continues to slowly go mad.]]
* BrickJoke: [[spoiler: Aven goes into town and buys a milkshake.]]
* DiscOneFinalBoss: [[spoiler: Erebus.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler: Light. Why is this in spoilers? Was anyone really surprised? It's what he does.]]
* FateWorseThanDeath: Becoming the Great Seal. [[spoiler: Also, how Light met his end.]]
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler: Nyx.]]
* FrickinLaserBeams: Aven's incendiary rounds.
* MemoryGambit: [[spoiler:Pulled by Light in order to gain the group's trust.]]
* PoweredByAForsakenChild: The Great Seal, making the party a tad reluctant to allow Minato to become part of it.
* ScrewDestiny: One of the central themes. A discussion frequently had by the main charaters was whether Minato truly had to die to become the Great Seal and preven The Fall. [[spoiler: Minato overcomes his own death written in the notebook through sheer force of will and the Universe Arcana, and eventually survives Nyx as well.]]
* WildCard: HK-47, who only assisted the party to destroy the "inferior" HK-50 units.

!The Vesperia arc contains examples of:

* AppliedPhlebotinum: Aer
* BigBad: Alexei
* BittersweetEnding: Congrats! Terca Lumeries is saved! [[spoiler:Except Cloud kills himself. (Technically twice since he sacrificed his Crystal body to destroy the Adephagos.)]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Estelle after being kidnapped by Alexei.
* CantSpitItOut: Cloud to Estelle.
* CooldownHug: Estelle gets one.
* DyingAsYourself: [[spoiler:Cloud. Whether it sticks or not has yet to be seen.]]
* EldritchAbomination: The Adephagos
* GrayAndGreyMorality: Alexei wants to prevent the Adephagos from killing everything, and Estelle genuinely wants to help everyone and makes every effort to.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Raven. [[spoiler: And Cloud, eventually.]]
* HopeSpot: Cloud gets one briefly when having a nice conversation for once with an innkeeper. [[spoiler: A few pages later, Estelle gets kidnapped by assassins due to his negligence.]]
* SamusIsAGirl:[[spoiler:Judith]]
* WelcomeBackTraitor: Raven.

!The Castle Of Dreams arc contains examples of:

* AWizardDidIt: Barry handwaves some of the more extraordinary happenings in the park by chalking it up to magic he got from his grandfather.
* BookEnds: The Castle of Dreams arc starts with Barry Acres inviting them to the theme park and bringing them in on a bus, it ends with Barry Acres inviting them to come back one day and bringing them back to the room on the same bus.
* BreatherEpisode: A trip to an Amusement Park would do everyone good.
* {{Expy}}: The elderly, yet spry dancing bus driver is one of the Six Flags Guy.

!The Castlevania arc contains examples of:

* {{Checkpoint}}: The havens between each major boss fight.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: The players kind of collectively [[spoiler:BEAT UP DEATH.]]
* HeroesOfAnotherStory: Harvey, Phoenix, and Maya go missing shortly after the beginning to engage in a sub-plot. Nobody really notes on the three missing except Yu, but nobody has the time to go look for them anyway since Dracula Reviving is a much more pressing issue.
* IncendiaryExponent: Aven learns of the power of setting himself on fire and getting thrown at enemies during his time here.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Mutsuki oh so (in)conveniently charging into Soma right when he was recovering from [[spoiler:Dracula breaking free.]] It undid basically everything everyone was trying with him.
* RewardingVandalism: The party discovered certain objects in Castlevania can be broken for weapons and that bricks can be broken for food, this naturally didn't avoid some questioning.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: So much. The leader being an impulsive teenager that just found out [[spoiler: he's Dracula reincarnated]] doesn't help things in the slightest, either.
-->Aven: (whispering) I don't like you.
-->Alpha: (whispering) I don't like you either.
* WebcomicTime: Subverted as Aven mentions that the days spent in Castlevania seem to be the same as the days spent real time in the arc.
* WhatTheHellHero: Mina outright refusing to get close to [[spoiler:Somacula]] on the grounds that she's too terrified. And she's supposed to be the LoveInterest...

!The Spaceship arc contains examples of:

* AFateWorseThanDeath / AndIMustScream: Sagi threatens to do this to the Maliwan CEO by [[spoiler:capturing her in a magnus,]] but ultimately does not go through with it. Alpha opts for MindRape instead.
* BadassCrew: When your ship is a room capable of breaking through dimensional walls and your crew consists of members such as The Doctor, Gordon Freeman and Riza Hawkeye, you're definitely this.
* CombatPragmatist: Rock isn't afraid of taking a direct approach in difficult situations, [[spoiler: [[IDidWhatIHadToDo especially when]] [[WhyDontYouJustShootHim negotiations with Maliwan are going nowhere]].]]
** Similarly, Ace often opts for violent means of sorting things out.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: Daisy interrogates an enemy Komerade by [[TastesLikeDiabetes hugging him]].
* CoolShip: Both the gigantic Moonship and the retrofitted Roomship count.
* CutTheSafetyRope: [[spoiler: Aven, who was being dragged off a cliff, started dragging Alpha with him during the attempted rescue. So the latter was told to let go.]]
* DrillSergeantNasty: One crops up while part of the group trains for Jakobs' militia, and reappears later with [[TrainingFromHell a painful gauntlet that the crew must run to prove themselves worthy]] so they can meet with Dahl. [[spoiler:It turns out he was actually Torgue in disguise and was messing with everyone.]]
* EldritchAbomination: A universe devouting entity called The Thousand Maws. Interesting in that it is a universe itself, making it an EldritchLocation as well.
* EscalatingWar: The (rather short-lived) prank war between Kirb, Daisy, Sagi and Marno. It began with a snow prank to wake up Sagi and ended with the Doctor threatening to ''bleach Sagi's hair with hydrogen peroxide in his sleep.''
* FluffyTheTerrible: Helen and Marno collectively come up with their own nickname for The Thousand Maws: "Bob The Destroyer."
* HurricaneOfPuns: Marno inflicts one on the group after Lenell retrieves her axe. The others are not amused.
* [[spoiler: NoOneCouldSurviveThat: Aven's supposed death -- he was stabbed, lost an arm, dragged off a cliff, and barely escaped being blown up.]]
* PingPongNaivete: Daisy's ditzy moments are often tempered by [[WiseBeyondTheirYears surprisingly profound ones]].
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: The Kirby-like Komerades on Vorgnock-5.
* RunningGag: Two - Marno's increasingly-humiliating demotions (though unless Mr. Torgue appears again, this is likely over) and the Jolly Green Giant appearing to fix impossibly confusing situations.
** Marno's demotions are once again referenced in the Deluge arc after he loses the "waiting game."
* SpannerInTheWorks: The Doctor's attempt to outgambit Miss Maliwan is foiled by Sagi's negligence with his lightning. Things go FromBadToWorse.
* TookALevelInBadass: Luigi takes one during his training with Zeff aboard the Baratie. By the end of it, the plumber is a formidable fighter far beyond his usual skills.
* WhatTheHellHero: The Doctor delivers one to Sagi, Alpha and Rock [[spoiler: after Miss Maliwan is threatened, tortured and killed by each respectively.]] He doesn't speak much to them, but still manages to cripple them with guilt.

!The Deluge arc contains examples of:

* AbortedArc: Many, due to there being too many players to do them all properly, leaving many plot threads hanging.
* AlienGeometries: The altered city.
* AllThereInTheManual: Due to time constraints, several arcs were cut, leaving many things that would have been given a definitive answer very vague.
** For starters, Dr. Stabler [[spoiler: was aware of the nature of the city. He was playing all the fields, and intentionally triggered the outbreak of Calamity virus to pressure his buyers, due to a mistake he made when he released a sample (that broken terrarium in his lab around Thanksgiving? He had some infected mice. They got out. He let the virus spread and propagated it in order to cover his ass and make the feds and the terrorist group (which, in case you didn't pick up, was headed by the Auditor) scramble to buy his silence. This matches up with the dates, including the odd happenstances three months ago and the discovery of the burial site). Most of his arc wound up cut, and the few bits that did make it in were too subtle unless you were Sherlock or something. ]]
*** In relation to this, [[spoiler: the government ''did'' want to produce a bioweapon out of this super totes cool alien the found, though ("That won't backfire at all!" [[hottip:*: Well, actually, it didn't. Not in the way these things usually go, anyway]]. That's what, as far was they knew, the project was about. The men in suits allowed it because it provided them with an excuse to have Cloud nearby and restrained so they could run experiments. The Auditor wanted to use him to take out "Colonel Sanders", but he was more of a side project than anything else, and not really relevant to his overall scheme (which still has not been revealed.). They were all working towards their own goals, but one group was being puppeteered by the other that was being puppeteered by the other from the get-go. And Stabler, naturally was fucking with them all. The Auditor did not appreciate this. [[BoomHeadshot Look where that got him.]] ]]
** Details on the "[[Film/DarkCity Suits]]" that some people found confusing: they were [[spoiler: an alien race that were nearly extinct. They were studying humans, who have individual identities, as opposed to their hivemind, figuring that this must be their secret to survival. In order to narrow down what made an individual an individual, they would change the city (a copy of Vegas, made by the Auditor) every night using their reality warping abilities, as well as a machine that amplified them, and implant different memories into the populace frequently, seeing what changed and what didn't with what were essentially different souls (brain patterns, but whatever). They had a special interest in Cloud, who had his own [[TheVirus hivemind]], and yet an identity separate from then, and the ability to intercept and interact with all those memories and maintain his sense of self, for the most part. Studying and experimenting on him was what helped them perfect the process, since their data is largely chemical, in contrast to our electronic machine-based tech, and on top of that, they needed a human-like mind that was still slimilar to their own, to learn how to bridge the gap. Cloud was perfect for this. Win-win. [-[[{{Dissimile}} Except for Cloud]], whose life is in a perpetual state of suck, but let's not split hairs here.-] ]]
*** [[spoiler: They stop time and shift all the clones in the city and themselves to another plane of existence to do their memory thing.]] These were the times when the city was "empty", yet moved occasionally, and could be changed. [[spoiler: Cloud himself was aware of this, but did not mention it for fear of the "don't think about pink elephants" effect. All it would take was one person panicking about their abilities to rip the whole place to bits by thinking about ripping the whole place to bits.]]
*** The un-timestopped phase was what the city was like normally, and what the party experienced until Cloud was awakened and unconsciously took them out of it.
*** The emergency phase was the third timeline, and the one [[spoiler:swarming with Suits. It's so they can fix things in case someone gets out, like the party did.]]
** Cloud was [[spoiler: made into "Dave" when he got caught and implanted with fake (and ironically, happier) memories, bombarding him with the same injection repeatedly until he was overwhelmed by the new information. They changed his eyes because that's all they could manage, and hid him in plain sight in the city.]]
** The Doctor and Cloud were cloned due to, again, their unique minds. Cloud, so they'd have a backup in case the original, er, "[[HeroicBSOD broke]]" during testing, and the Doctor because he's basically the smartest thing ever, and a Time Lord. Cloning something with genes as complex as Cloud and the Doctor didn't quite work, though, especially when everyone in the city wasn't meant to live long, anyway. The Doctors died (hence their regeneration into Ten, and he didn't last long, either), and the Cloud they made wound up blind, and emotionally closed off due to being messed up in the brain (even moreso than the real Cloud).
** The Auditor made them this city, and maintained all three timelines/planes in exchange for a few tests of his own.
* AnyoneCanDie: Should anyone go on to do something incredibly stupid or make a terribly wrong move, bodies can and have dropped.
** Presently dead are [[spoiler: Bang Shishigami, Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric, and Deimos.]]
** Subverted when it got to the point where a TPK really should have occurred several times over, in which Spaz simply gave up.
* CallBack: Marno's demotions from the Spaceship arc are referenced when he loses the "waiting game."
* CuckooNest:It is still unknown whether or not the daytime city or the altered city is real or not, or if nothing is real to begin with, or even if the people they've met actually exist. [[spoiler: It is later revealed that all three timelines are very real, as well as the MindScrew earlier in.]]
* EldritchLocation: The other city, which is a openly hostile place that was built by the men in suits and shifts and bends at will to them.
* FakeMemories: [[spoiler: Everyone in the city. Cloud has access to all of these, until they are ultimately used on him to hide him in plain sight as "David Mitinger".]]
* FissionMailed: At one point, a [[spoiler: clown with a jetpack appears and [[DiabolusExMachina suddenly kills everyone]] for no apparent reason.]] Then the group wakes up, completely unharmed.
* HumanoidAbomination: The sinister men in suits who built and patrol the other city.
* MonsterClown: A homicidal, seemingly immortal clown has become a threat to the group on several occasions, and in one case [[spoiler:killed them all.]]
* NotUsingTheZWord: None of the universe's natives have referred to the people suffering zombie-like symptoms as zombies, though the GenreSavvy members of the team show no hesitation in doing so.
** [[{{Jossed}} And then it turns out they weren't actually zombies.]]
* RealityEnsues: Breaking a door off in broad daylight and setting an alarm off? Police surrounded the group in an instant.
* RealityWarper: The Suits. [[spoiler: Later, the entire party.]]
* {{Room 101}}: What the half-stopped timestream is like,[[spoiler: due to the unstable nature of reality and the amplifier, allowing things like dreams and fears to manifest physically.]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: More so than the previous arc. The group is often left without clear directions forward, and friction between Aven, the Doctor and the Major for leadership caused sparks to fly on more than one occasion.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: The gang passed through Las Vegas with only a few glances and even fewer questions. Then again, with all the strange events going on, they are probably some of the less odd things around. This was mostly because the GM couldn't think of an excuse to not have them all incarcerated repeatedly.
* WhatMeasureIsAMook: After the Area 51 group gets captured, some of guards mourns for their losses in the preceding shootout.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Some of the party begin to question whether or not Cloud is simply a tool a little while after he joins the party.

!The Fragments and Reflections arc contains examples of:

* AllMythsAreTrue: A standard staple of SMT.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler: Dio Brando ripped [[CuteWitch Elisa's]] lungs out, drained her blood, then froze her and [[LiterallyShatteredLives shattered her body]]]].
* RealityEnsues: And the GM doesn't intend to give up halfway when the players keep doing things that would get them arrested this time... so far, anyway.
