* DidntSeeThatComing: Wolverine's reaction to Magneto suddenly showing up to kidnap Psylocke.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Mystique tries to pull a SpotTheImposter stunt to trick Psylocke, a powerful telepath. Wolverine also points out his superior senses means he can sniff Mystique out easily.

* DynamicEntry: After Deathbird gets into the throne room, Gladiator bursts through the floor to halt her forces.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Apocalypse grabs onto Lilandra, yet he makes no effort to kill her. When Deathbird tells him to do so, Apocalypse simply says, "In time." Apocalypse's true plan for the Axis of Time will see everyone wiped out.

* IncomingHam: As Archangel and Psylocke clash in the warehouse, some claws start ripping through the door.
-->'''Archangel:''' Wolverine?\\
'''Sabretooth:''' ''[bursting in]'' GUESS AGAIN!
* MotiveRant: When questioned by Jean about his involvement with Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister goes on and on about how the Axis of Time will allow him to instantaneously see results of genetic experiments that would take generations to play out.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Wolverine and Shard fail to stop the villains from kidnapping Psylocke. Worse, Storm and Gambit having to break off to help them enabled Sinister to grab his target without any opposition.
* NoOneGetsLeftBehind: Yes and no. After subduing Wolverine, Magneto takes Psylocke through a time portal, telling Mystique to grab on. However, Sabretooth (having been knocked unconscious earlier) is left behind.
* NoSympathy: Likely due to their mutual history, Mystique considers it regrettable that Sabretooth was left behind to be captured. Magneto has no such sympathy, denouncing Sabretooth as "an unthinking animal" they're better off without. Apocalypse very much likes Magneto's attitude.
* TheNoseKnows: Besides Psylocke's telepathy, Mystique's attempt to pose as Shard fails because of Wolverine's keen sense of smell.
-->'''Mystique:''' Blasted bloodhound.
* ObligatoryJoke: Apocalypse explains to Jean what the Axis of Time is and how he slowly learned its many secrets.
-->'''Jean:''' If you have become some powerful, why do you need us?\\
'''Apocalypse:''' All in due time. ''[laughs]''
* OhCrap: Gladiator in response to seeing Apocalypse emerge from the time portal.

to:

* ShoutOut: After the two go at it in the warehouse for it, Sabretooth declares he's done playing. Wolverine sarcastically asks if this is part where he starts [[Franchise/{{Popeye}} eating spinach]].
* TaughtByExperience: Magneto has no sympathy for Sabretooth being left behind to be captured, knowing [[Recap/XMenS1E4DeadlyReunions from experience]] that his unthinking aggression bungles plans.
* UnwittingPawn: To Deathbird's frustration, Apocalypse reveals he had no intention helping her claim the throne of the Shi'ar Empire. She was just his means to claim Oracle for his own plan. The second he has Oracle in his grasp, Apocalypse leaves Deathbird to fend for herself.

The X-Men try to figure out why psychics are being abducted, only to learn several of their enemies are part of the scheme.

to:

The Shi'ar Throneworld is under attack from the forces of Deathbird, Lilandra's older sister. Her forces breach the palace, but Deathbird herself is waylaid by Gladiator... just as Deathbird planned, as Apocalypse arrives via a portal to grab Lilandra. However, the ancient villain has his own motives, grabbing Lilandra's psychic, Oracle, and leaving both Lilandra and Deathbird behind.

Apocalypse reappears in the Nexus of Time, placing Oracle in another tube next to one of Jean's, and explains to her what's happen; after stealing Cable's time machine, he was disrupted mid-transit and crashed in the Axis. Fortunately, since time has no meaning there, he was able to spend centuries studying the strange location and learning its secrets. Jean asks why, if he's so powerful, he even needs the psychics. "All in due time." Apocalypse tells her.

In the modern day, the Professor is trying to reassure Scott when he gets a psychic flash from Lilandra warning him about Apocalypse's actions. In the war room, the
X-Men try to figure out why Apocalypse must be going after psychics specifically, so all they need to do is stake one out and wait to catch them in the act.

Elsewhere, in England, a mysterious ninja breaks into Castle Worthington, unaware the lord of the castle is in. Archangel confronts the intruder, who reveals themselves as a woman, called Psylocke. The two fight, Psylocke flees, but her path brings her to the edge of a cliff, and she falls over. Archangel grabs her, and for his trouble is zapped with the focused totality of her psychic might. While he's out, Psylocke helps herself to Warren's stuff. Coming too, Warren decides to just follow her and see what's what.

The trail leads to a warehouse in central London, where the X-Men
are being abducted, staked out for Psylocke when she shows up. Wolverine spots her first, and goes to investigate. As Warren catches up with Psylocke, the two bicker about her theft and his history with Apocalypse, only to learn several be interrupted by the arrival of Sabretooth and Mystique, looking to capture Psylocke. Wolverine and Shard join in, and soon Psylocke gets fed up; she doesn't know who anyone is or why they're there, but she's taking off.

Shame Magneto has other ideas. The Master of Magnetism manages to capture Psylocke and incapacitate Logan, and he and Mystique depart via portal, leaving Sabretooth behind just as Storm and Gambit finally show up. Magneto, Mystique, and Sabretooth are, of course, all working for Apocalypse, who now has another psychic for his collection.

And in the year 3999, Cable and Tyler make
their enemies own plans. The problem is there are part of no more time machines. They were all destroyed, and Cable wasn't supposed to have his either. Except that's not ''completely'' true. As Cable tells Tyler, the scheme.
world's government kept one time machine, safely hidden, just in case.

And they're going to steal it.

!!Tropes:
* AdaptationalVillainy: Starting the ball rolling on all future adaptations, Psylocke is a thief, though she's not openly antagonistic toward the X-Men.
* TheBusCameBack: Archangel returns after last showing up in flashbacks in "Proteus", and his last modern day appearance in "Obsession".
* CainAndAbel: Deathbird, Lilandra's crazy older sister, who was denied the crown (can't imagine why...) and has no problems contracting Apocalypse as a middle-man to get rid of her.
* TheCameo: Gamesmaster, Karma and Mesmero are among the other psychics already abducted by Apocalypse.
* CharacterDevelopment: Warren has mellowed a ''lot'' since his last appearance. He's still apparently after Apocalypse, but he's not as frothing-at-the-mouth obsessed as he was, and is now capable of cracking jokes.
* CrazyPrepared: While the people of Cable's time supposedly got rid of all time travel devices, they kept at least one, ''just in case''.
* DudeNotFunny: Storm chides Gambit for making a crack about psychics knowing what's about to happen to them.
* ILied: Deathbird teamed up with Apocalypse so he would kill Lilandra for her. He instead grabs Oracle and leaves, but not before a harsh burn.
-->'''Deathbird:''' You promised the crown would be mine!\\
'''Apocalypse:''' I lied. Farewell, "''empress''".
* ImposterForgotOneDetail: Mystique tries pretending to be Shard to confuse Psylocke, but it fails because of Logan's nose and Psylocke's own telepathy, but even if it hadn't, she's still carrying the gun she was just using.
* MythologyGag: Shard recognizes Archangel because he'll one day join the X-Men.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: What gets the X-Men suspicious is that Mr. Sinister's behavior is extremely unlike him.
* {{Retcon}}: Three, two of the previous episode and one via the next ones;
** The last episode ended with Scott begging Shard to show him a way to get to wherever Jean is. That plot point is forgotten and never comes up again.
** The mansion got slightly smashed up during the fight between the X-Men and the Nasty Boys, but here and for the rest of the story an entire wing has been reduced to rubble, far beyond what the previous episode suggested.
** Magneto's stated motivation for helping Apocalypse is finding a way to resurrect Magda. Part four will instead state he was tempted by the idea of a world ruled by Mutants.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: Psylocke has no damn idea who any of the people fighting over her are or even what they want, and she doesn't particularly care, so she tries to run. Magneto prevents that.
