* RecycledPremise: The "familiar room" is reminiscent of the "sidekicks lounge" from "Tick vs. The Tick", right down to those relegated to the area sharing stories of the injuries and abuse they take on the job, and one of them being a nonhuman entity--i.e. a cat, though unlike the superhero's dog companion in the cartoon, this pet doesn't speak. Really, the whole episode is so silly, it could be the plot of a Saturday morning cartoon, albeit for the more adult set.

** Simon has ordered "bloodle service" for his table, which is similar to "bottle service" except the "bottle" is a naked man strapped down to a tray.

** This little gem in the familiar room:
--->Colby: So how long have you been a familiar? You don't look very familiar.

* NoodleIncident: Laszlo's hat somehow caused the Irish potato famine.

* LaserGuidedKarma: Simon takes Laszlo's hat before kicking them out of his club, turning down their idea of a merger. Because the CoolHat is actually an ArtifactOfDoom, it does not take long for his William-Tell game to lead to the club exploding, putting him into a full-body cast.

not a trope

* CoolHat: Laszlo likes his witch-skin hat and seems to be in denial about its cursed properties. Even Simon wants it, having wanted it on the ship-ride to America and invited the gang just to take it from them.

* LongList: The highlight of the episode is Simon revealing the whole colorful cast of Manhattan vampires who constitute his "crew", in a segment that just keeps on going and somehow keeps on finding new ridiculous gimmicks for each new vampire who shows up ("Mr. 50s", "The Silent One", "Blagvad the Exsanguinator", "Count Rapula", "Len the Accountant", etc.).
