''Cicero Crisis'' introduced Earth Forest tileset into the game.

The Grineer has long been unable to conquer Earth's forest, a result of Orokin's super plants that grow faster than anything we know. Councilor Vay Hek plans to use Cicero Toxin to clear the way for Grineer settlements on the planet.

The Tenno acted against the invasion by creating anti-toxin, using samples and data of various local plants on Earth. The substance is later loaded into Cicero Toxin Injectors the Grineer were operating, making the toxin null. Eventually, the Tenno prevailed, and the Grineer were unable to gain a firm foothold on Earth.

A Tenno is an organic creature, created by the Orokin to combat the Sentient and Technoxyte Virus. The Tenno use dated weapons such as swords, guns or bows in place Orokin technologies that are more advanced but useless against the Sentients. But ''what'' they exactly are is still a mystery;

* Captain Vor, a famous Grineer commander who studied the Orokin extensively, has referred to the Tenno as a being of pure energy, whose bodies is merely a shell.
* A spaceship Zariman was lost during 'the fold from Saturn to the Outer gates' then mysteriously returned day later. An account of Kaleen, a inspector assigned by unknown military group, mentions children aboard the ship, one of whom burn her face off when she 'violate the procedure' and tries to comfort them. Many players suspect that said child is the original of Ember warframe.

Normally, such an assault would not even register to the Lotus, much less the Tenno as a whole. But the Grineer having a weapon capable of shifting the balance of power, as well as the Corpus offering the then-rare Ammo Mutation mods, led to the Lotus deciding to send the Tenno to destroy the Fomorians by using Infested flesh to force the cores to implode. Grineer and Corpus relations have never been the greatest, with both sides barely tolerating each other at the best of times. But eventually, tensions would reach an all time high when the Corpus decide to raise taxes on trade. In response, the Grineer reveal they have been constructing a new class of ship, the Fomorian, and send them to destroy private Corpus resource stores, intent on forcing them to lower prices again.

Some time after the Tenno attempt to sabotage Tyl Regor's experiments, a new type of autonomous drone would be sighted at various areas of the system. The Orokin is an ancient but highly-advanced empire whose influences once spans all over the galaxy. Among their creations are the Prime weapons (Or most of them, some are implied to be made by Tenno with salvaged Orokin tech), the various derelicts encountered within Void missions, the genetically engineered plants on Earth, and the Tenno themselves.
