When Bogg and Jeff drop into a dark alley, they get caught up with Nellie Bly, who is trying to hunt down Jack the Ripper, and Arthur Conan Doyle, who is struggling with his creation Sherlock Holmes. But things are about to get much worse as a figure from their past makes an unwanted reappearance...
!!This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
* BeethovenWasAnAlienSpy:
** It's implied that Jules Verne named Phi'''l'''eas '''F'''ogg, the protagonist of ''Literature/AroundTheWorldInEightyDays'' after Bogg.
** Subverted later in the episode. Jeff asks if Jack the Ripper was really Drake. Bogg says it isn't like him and thinks he's just trying to mess up history by going after Nellie.
* EntertaininglyWrong: After spending a fair amount of time examining Jeff's shoe and all the different things on it, Doyle concludes he's been to the Royal Zoological Gardens.
* {{Flashback}}:
** When he sees Bogg in the pub, Drake has a flashback to being outed after trying to frame him.
** In the police wagon, Bogg also has a flashback to seeing Drake at the trial.
* GoingForTheBigScoop: Nellie Bly tries to find Jack the Ripper so she can get the story on him.
* LivingCrashpad: Bogg falls on top of Drake when he and Jeff omni in, although not for long as Drake uses him omni to time jump out.
* SherlockScan: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is presented as having the same ability his character Sherlock Holmes did; he deduces Nellie Bly's nationality and profession from her clothing, behavior, and articles. Later, he shows off his deductive skills to the police chief so as to prove that he's right in saying the evidence declares Bogg is innocent.
* WritersBlock: When the story starts, Arthur Conan Doyle has written only ''A Study in Scarlet'' and is unable to come up with anything further.
* WronglyAccused: Nellie Bly, who's only able to remember the black cloak and shiny watch of her attacker, comes to the wrong conclusion that Bogg is the Ripper. She recants when Drake attacks her again later in the episode.
