My interpretation of the Ma episode is that her mother was dead all along and Mona has been talking to her mother’s dead corpse all along - like in the Two Sentence Horror Story that inspired it.

* AccidentalMurder: During her psychic episode, Mona accidentally stabs Erica with a knife, killing her. Her murder of her mother is also this, since she does not actually mean to do it.

to:

* AccidentalMurder: During her psychic episode, Mona accidentally stabs Erica with a knife, killing her. Her murder of her mother (if that is indeed how she died) is also this, since she does not actually mean to do it.

* DeadAllAlong: Another interpretation of the twist ending is that Mona’s mother has been dead since sometime before the beginning of episode, and Mona has been nursing her mother’s long-dead corpse out of a sense of obligation and/or guilt.

* MummiesAtTheDinnerTable: After she unwittingly kills her mother and Erica, Mona refuses to let them go. The episode ends with her having dinner with their corpses at the dinner table.

to:

** Another interpretation is that Erica is seeing what has been actually going on this whole time: that Mona’s mother was dead since sometime before the start of the story, and Mona was talking to her mom’s dead corpse - pretending it was alive.
* MummiesAtTheDinnerTable: After she unwittingly kills Erica (and possibly her mother and Erica, mother, who may have been DeadAllAlong), Mona refuses to let them go. The episode ends with her having dinner with their corpses at the dinner table.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: After she is snapped out of her psychic episode, Mona breaks down after realizing that she has just killed her mother and Erica.

to:

** If one goes with the interpretation that Mona’s mother was DeadAllAlong, this may just be how Mona envisions/remembers her.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: After she is snapped out of her psychic episode, Mona breaks down after realizing that she has just killed Erica (and possibly her mother and Erica.own mother).
