** For as much as the others posture about how deeply connected to their Italian heritage they are and how much Christopher Columbus means to their identity, they all protest when native-born Furio mentions he doesn't like Columbus himself. He then explains the age-old feud that southern Italians have with the North, and how even Columbus being Genovese doesn't mean much in Napoli, showing that the guys treat Italy as a monolith rather than a real place with varying traditions and cultures.

Still feeling undervalued by Tony, Paulie Walnuts tries to ingratiate himself to John Sacrimoni and New York by informing him of the fat joke Ralph Cifaretto made about his wife Ginny. Johnny is infuriated but keeps the information to himself for the time being. However, when he runs into Ralph at Karen Baccalieri's funeral, he brushes him off without speaking to him.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Janice is seeing a [[TheShrink Shrink]] of her own. The first session itself, right down to detailed references to her [[AllGirlsWantBadBoys questionable taste in men]], and an OedipusComplex towards either Johnny Boy or Tony himself is a dead ringer for several sessions Tony has had with Dr. Melfi.

* FairForItsDay: Silvio is obviously of the opinion that American Indians feeling outrage over sports names like the Washington Redskins (an example he specifically cites) amounts to PoliticalOvercorrectness. Back in the early 2000s, when the show first aired, it is possible that not many people besides American Indians themselves shared in that outrage. Fast forward to the 2020s, where Washington's football team is now named the Commanders and Cleveland's baseball team is now named the Guardians. It seems society in the current day has reached a consensus that those kinds of sports names are offensive, even allowing for the possible holdout with the Atlanta Braves. The episode in hindsight may merit some slack on account of having been produced over two decades age and reflecting ValuesDissonance.

* HonorBeforeReason: How Silvio flies into another episode of acting quite out of character. His behavior and role has up until now been utterly cold and rational as TheConsigliere. Here we see him fly hard in a direction not unlike going from TheSpock to TheMcCoy almost overnight. His ethnic pride in being Italian American and the Native American protests really send him in directions ruled by his emotions that he otherwise would never go in. If he stopped to apply his usual cold calculating thought processes to them, he'd realize that they'd have troubling repercussions for the business. Even Tony lampshades it: "What the fuck's with you? I count on you to be the most level-headed guy I got!"

* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Tony decides to pull the plug on the whole Columbus Day thing after Del Redclay essentially causes a ThreatBackfire. Silvio would like to expose Redclay as [[SexualExtortion sleeping with his own graduate student]]. But Tony remains firm that it's time to put the whole thing to bed.
