* ArtisticLicenseLinguistics: When the Parliament House in Canberra is first shown, a sign shown says "Parliament-haus der Austria", with "al" scrawled in. Not only is "der" wrong - that's a masculine term and countries are referred to with feminine ones - but the two countries' names in German are different enough to not be confused: Austria is "Österreich" and Australia is "Australien".

I removed the “Artistic License – Geography” example about Lisa playing the didgeridoo, which noted the taboo in Aboriginal culture for girls playing the didgeridoo. Firstly, it’s not quite clear how this is supposed to relate to geography. More significantly, regardless of whether it is considered culturally appropriate, white American girls can and do purchase and play didgeridoos. Since artistic license tropes apply to cases where the writing is inaccurate, I do not believe the trope applies in this example.

** Lisa playing the didgeridoo at a store: In Aboriginal culture, girls and women can't play the didgeridoo (but they can dance to it) as it's considered taboo for anyone but men and boys to do so. This sparked quite a bit of controversy, and it did not help that Lisa is a white (well, okay, mustard-yellow) American girl with no connection to that culture.

** Bart's joke: "I hear a dingo eating your baby" references a real life event, the disappearance of baby Azaria Chamberlain at Uluru, Australia in 1980. The mother claimed she was snatched by a dingo but was convicted of murder, until 6 years later where new evidence was found that exonerated her. ''Film/EvilAngels'', also known as ''A Cry in the Dark'' is a widely known film regarding the incident.

* HarsherInHindsight: Bart taunts Bruno Drundridge by saying "hey, I think I hear a dingo eating your baby!" which is a reference to the disappearance of an Australian infant, Azaria Chamberlain, in 1980, with her remains having never been found. Her parents, Michael and Lindy Chamberlain, claimed she had been snatched from a tent the family was in at Uluru, Northern Territory. The authorities did not believe the parents, and convicted Lindy of murder and Michael of being an accessory after the fact, sentencing Lindy to life imprisonment. However, in 1988, after Azaria's jacket was found near a dingo's den, all convictions against the Chamberlains were overturned and Lindy, who had been sentenced to life, was released and paid a settlement for false imprisonment. In 2012, a coroner ruled that Azaria Chamberlain had, in fact, been killed by a dingo. ''The Simpsons'' would make a similar joke in the tenth season episode, [[Recap/TheSimpsonsS10E7LisaGetsAnA Lisa Gets an [="A"=]]].
