Janine summons the Ghostbusters to inform them that they are in debt due to a variety of causes, one of which being food expenses, which causes Peter to snap at Slimer for eating a lot and giving nothing in return. Slimer counters that what he gives is "love", but Peter tells him to shrink himself, and when he does, he tries mailing him away. Ray stops him, then Slimer goes out to get a job.

Out in the streets, a teenage boy is bullied by a group of other teens, who trip him and make him drop his stack of comics and magazines. Then, when the bullies leave, a Doberman chases him, and he screams. Slimer hears the boy screaming and saves him, so the boy thanks Slimer and introduces himself as Mike. He then pays Slimer to be his bodyguard, but Slimer doesn't know how to appear scary, so Mike takes him home to teach him how.

Meanwhile, Janine and Ray are searching for Slimer, and the bullies are hanging out near a pharmacy. Slimer and Mike arrive, and when the bullies insult Mike, Slimer chases them. Slimer and Mike leave, and the bullies decide to seek revenge. Meanwhile, the Ghostbusters (except Peter) and Janine are worried about Slimer, and they get an envelope full of slime-covered money. Ray decides they should search for Slimer at the zip code of the post office.

The bullies enter a subway station, where Rick (the leader) reveals that it was closed years ago due to strange creatures there. They meet up with the creatures, and Rick invites them up to the surface to get revenge on Slimer and Mike. The Ghostbusters, still looking for Slimer, notice the higher PKE readings.

One of the bullies then invites Mike into the warehouse, and he hesitantly accepts, but then the plan backfires when the creatures start attacking, not only Mike, but the bullies as well. Slimer flies out and alerts the Ghostbusters to the creatures, who are revealed to be called "Barrow Wights"; malevolent creatures that, like vampires, must be invited to go to a place. Slimer makes part of his body into a baseball bat and beats up the Barrow Wights, while the Ghostbusters trap them, then the bullies call a truce with Mike. Ray says that Slimer is worth his weight in gold, but Peter disagrees, angering Slimer.
