* PoliceAreUseless: Just as in the previous episode, Lin and her metalbending police are easily bamboozled and defeated. While raiding Hiroshi Sato's secret underground factory, the police are trapped in a room and trounced by the Equalists. While this is happening, Mako and Bolin are easily able to subdue the lone police officer who was left to keep an eye on them. Lin is rescued, but the rest of her police force are captured. Lin claims the she has failed as Chief, and decides to immediately resign from the police force for this mistake.

* InnocentCohabitation: Korra invites Bolin and Mako to stay at Air Temple Island, but they've already accepted Asami's invitation to stay at her dad's mansion. Though she neglected to tell her dad about it, she managed to smooth things over with him or so she thought. By the end of the episode, the brothers and Asami will all be moving to the island together.

* ButtMonkey: Officer Song, the policeman assigned to guard Mako, Bolin, and Asami. In addition to being subdued, one must remember that in episode one, he was the officer who grabbed Korra's pony tail and got slammed into the ice. Being subdued actually worked in his favor, as the other officers that went down got de-bended.

* ShesGotLegs: Asami strikes a nice pose in her bathing suit when Korra arrives at the mansion.

* AntiMagic: Sort of. As it turns out, there is one type of metal that even metalbenders cannot bend--platinum. According to one character, this is because platinum is so pure a metal there isn't enough earth in it for benders to use.

* BeingGoodSucks /FriendOrIdolDecision: Asami sided against the Equalists, but in doing so, she stands against her father and has the leave her cushy life behind though at least has a home on Air Temple Island.
